Welcome to the Cdrama family. Might I recommend a few to you? Love like the galaxy is a historical drama. The ML is a grey character similar to Xie Wei minus the madness. Another is Love between Fairy and Devil. ML is also grey. It’s a period fantasy. Please don’t get deterred by the FL’s voice. First of all it’s her real voice and second it’s to show her youth. Those two are my favorite. There are many others. Chinese period dramas come in 3 main categories. Wuxia (martial arts world), Xianxia (gods and goddesses), and historical (usually palace dramas).

Nirvana in fire is possibly the best political drama I’ve ever seen. Even though there’s no romance, but the chemistry between the characters is just so utterly heartbreaking.

Before you start, let me make it clear to you . The ML is very complex. He is cunning, aggressive, and sometimes psychotic due to some massive trauma. With that being said he’s also a feminist. He’s a scholar that believes that woman should also be educated like men. The FL is no damsel in distress. She is just as cunning and complex. Neither of them gives off the green flag especially the ML.

It’s sad that all they got out of the drama was toxicity. What I saw was two broken people finding their way to each other despite their individual insecurities.
