Shi ji is the main villain isn’t she? Ren Feng is after yuechu to get rid of the bloodline/use him for his dark powers and shi ji also wants to destroy yuechu so his blood is not a threat to her and she can take over tushan. Yuechu also needs to die for the grief tree to replenish itself. All roads lead to yuechu. Guo guo has also been very sus I think he will come into play later too.

From their feedback they don’t seem to mind the adaptation so far. Sadly some story beats have been changed maybe to pass censorship idk.
