I have a feeling this is a setup lol, didn’t the emperor mention that FJM is heartless towards HS. Cannot trust previews! But even if it were true, something will prevent him from cutting the Baixi connection.
Also, I wanted to give a shoutout to Shao Zi and Zhuo Ying for being the best brotherly figures (so far at least). They’re not related to HS but the bromance is one of the things that got me hooked to the drama. Love Zhuo Ying and HS!

I’m betting that #2 is the ending even though HS does not care to rule, she will fulfill everyones wishes (taking care of Tilan’s child and stabilizing the country). It’ll be quite the lonely life.
Omg I’m actually really loving Youdu, was he part of the novel? Although I feel like adding his character is kinda pointless besides extra eye candy and a little shove for FJM.
I love how Haishi always straightforward and never assume things..Usually that creates a whole misunderstanding…
I admire her character. She has the courage to be herself and speak her mind. I think FJM saw that from the get go when he took her in - her strong will and courage. She loves with all her heart but has self respect and does not accept vague responses. I think compared to a lot of dramas I’ve watched, I have to say that the majority of the characters are well written and intelligent.
From the trailers and snippets in MVs, this is my prediction on how things will go down… - Fang Jian Ming asks Di Xu to marry Hai Shi to protect her, which happens as planned - HS finds out about Bai Xi - Tilan has Di Xu’s child, but because of her already weakened body, she dies during childbirth. She asks Hai Shi to help take care of the child in her place - Another rebellion happens that fatally injures FJM - HS spends the last days with FJM outside the palace. Then he dies - Di Xu dies either from illness or something - HS takes over and leads the country raising Tilan’s child and joins forces with Zhuo Ying (who becomes the leader of the other country) to maintain peace - ending scene - she reminisces her time with FJM while looking at the blossoming tree in their yard Not one for tragic endings but I still think the overall tone of the drama will follow what readers have mentioned about the book. Not ready for it but can’t stop watching!
On Ep 21 GOSH Emperor literally RAPES Tilan and gives her abortion induced meds! this is another level of abuse,…
I don’t really understand their relationship. Not sure how she falls for him considering the toxic and abusive behaviour. She can have sympathy, but love? I guess they did this to avoid the “love triangle” since we have enough angst?
