Saw the trailers for ep 39-40. I guess as many of us predicted there is no love triangle. FJM asks DX to marry HS marries to protect her from the prince. It’s all an act. But seeing FJM secretly follow her around to ensure her safety when he is literally dying is kinda pathetic. Lol I’m sure there are other ways to protect her but the writers want to tie into what happens in the book, so I guess they do this. Seeing the changes from the original story makes me curious about how it will end! Tbh, the changes aren’t bad, it works for the drama. Tilan sort of experiences what HS experienced in the novel and probably will have a baby soon.

I miss zhuoying and haishi!!! Where is youdu lol

Not feeling the romance lol, it’s like she just fell for DX? After what? After all that misery? So random and toxic. I initially thought she was pretending to get close to him but guess not

That is possible, or a dream sequence. Lol open for interpretation. I did see from the drama poster and snippets of trailers where HS had her hair down in a very different style and was with FJM. It looked like they were living peacefully in the forest away from the palace. Either that’s a fantasy they have or them together before he dies.

Lol I take the trailers with a grain of salt, as it not the first time HS misunderstood him. Perhaps it is for his grand plan, but I'm sure the writers have dampened down his ruthlessness. It also appears that DX and FJM have a deal about HS marrying DX - still cruel as HS is kept in the dark, but there won't be much of a love triangle. DX won't fall for HS. For some reason, I'm still convinced that if DX has a child, it will be Tilan's. They already changed that part of the story because I heard Tilan ended up with General Tang in the book?

I think in the drama they'll tweak it where her death is fake? I see her wearing a different outfit with Zhuoying in the trailers. Why do I feel like the poison wasn't actual poison. But still it was heartbreaking, she was willing to die for him to leave without attachments. Also sad to see her and Aunt Su (who is so damn loyal) hug while crying. Aunt su is so nice!

Yeah FJM is too intelligent and strategic and ruthless. They definitely make him to be less ruthless, so viewers can sympathize with him more in the drama. I understand in the novel, he did it for the big picture, but it was still cruel for the ones involved as they didn't have a choice.

It's my first time watching this actor, he's good! Must've been fun playing two characters. He also looked like he had great chemistry with Yang Mi in their BTS - seems like a funny guy

LOOOOL honestly I feel like HS is the only one bold enough to stand up against DX. If they were the main couple, I feel like they'd be an interesting match, never a dull moment.

ahahaha or maybe their characters' dream/fantasy of what they wish would happen if they lived like a normal couple. Highly unlikely it'll be a happy ending :(

So it looks like FJM's character was made to be more human and less ruthless in the drama vs novel (based on all the novel spoilers I've read from the comments). In the novel, he took in HS and Zhuoying with a motive, everything was his grand plan. But here, you can see there is a family bond. Nonetheless, I admire FJM's wisdom and intelligence for having the eye for talent. Both HS and Zhuoying are people with lots of potential. I guess it takes one to know one.

LOL I watched one of the interviews where he says he felt that it was a tragic ending. Yang Mi said that there will be some ''candy'' if you continue watching but he says not to listen to her haha. At this point, it can go either way, although a HE would be unrealistic? I'm just hoping it is one with closure.

I don't think so, it looks like they changed it from the original story. Each character has their own love line. Whatever marriage seen between HS and the Emperor has a reason not romantic

Why am I more sad about this then FJM’s pending death lmao, the siblings are one of the biggest reasons I started the series

I’m not ready for our brothers Zhuoying and HS from being separated. Zhuoying loves her so much! Brother of the year goes to Zhuoying and man of the year goes to Youdu!

I haven’t watched ep 31-32 yet but saw previews for the latter episodes and it looks like there will be no love triangle between HS/FJM/DX. DX has Tilan, and FJM has HS. Guess that’s the big change in the original storyline, I’m guessing DX and HS will try to find ways to save FJM while protecting the kingdom together from Ji Chang. Glad there is no love triangle, we have enough angst loool

Just caught up with ep 30 and I still cannot get over Youdu and his grand love. He is a wise man. If there were a word to describe his character in the way he lives his life and loves others, it would be - 潇洒 (carefree). He helped to simplify FJM's turmoil in pushing HS away. Love with no regrets! To be loved by someone like Youdu is a great blessing.

So technically whatever Su Ming and the others say weren't completely false. DX and FJM got rid of ppl who may or may not have rebelled, but I guess they didn't wanna take chances on potential rebellions.
