It explains why NickBoston was well developed and written with a realistic outcome. He based it on his own experiences. But of course, he didnt tell us everything. What a roller coaster it must have been though. Actually living it.
Just watched LiveHouse. Mark said that Only Friends S1 is 'based on true story', and Mark's character Nick is…
watch Jjojo and Ninew interviews on OF last time. They candidly said that TopMew were based on people they know. Someone even posted a photo of Ninew with a group of friends in bar with the real life 'Top Mew' in the OF comment section. As to Nick being a stand in for Ninew> Yep. Ninew even said that he didn't show most of what really occurred in his past either. OF just showed a glimpse of it lmao
As to Nick cameo, yeah it's possible he was deflecting. Jojo dis say that the cast opf OF would be appearing in OFDO. We already got SandRay (FirstKhao) , Boston (Neo) so all that's left are TopMew (ForceBook) and Nick (Mark)
P'Jojo: "After watching and checking episode 1 multiple times as an assistant script supervisor looking at…
There you have it. For the people who thought he wasn't involved. Even though he isn't directing the series, he is still there in a supervisory capacity, overseeing the series as a whole.
when it comes to all this novel vs series comparisons, does anyone seriously think Ninew on his first full directorial debut will decide to do a series that is 'tamer' then Only Friends?
Why would he, an artist in his own right, settle for mediocrity?
If i was him I'd be aiming to match OF, or even surpass it somehow - all the time in public being respectful of the former. At the very least even if it was a fail then he tried his best and made a spectacular mess of it all. IMHO
I would try not to worry too much about the novel - depending how how it was written, it could wind up being very…
as i recall, the OF novel was published while the series was still airing.
At the same time, Jojo admitted that they were editing OF based on fan responses and reactions (which caused a backlash in and of itself) as the series was airing.
In other words, whatever was in the novel and what was in the series will differ from the simple fact that things were being edited while it was airing, while the novel was already completed and published beforehand.
Ep2 was a bit messy in terms of the timeline. I could folloq everything until Vier wakes up in Chiang Mai. Subsequent scenes indicating he was hiding from Kelvin.
Ok. This means that between the time where he and Kelvin were goimg around beghing for loans to the moment he woke up, something truly drastic changed in their relationship. But not indicating another timeskip was stupid by the director IMHO.
Plus how many times was Vier kidnapped, then somehow escaped?
He was clearly held and got out just hefore the ep starts, goes to the tea party, seduces and threatens the CEO banker, breaks a bottle over Kelvin's head then locks him up..then gets taken again 6 hours later?
Then before waking up in Chiangmai in the flashback, it implies he had been kidnapped and was hiding from Kelvin.
King was badly stabbed, then sitting at the press conference the next day like nothing happened lol. Honestly…
the guy who was kidnapped, starved and chained up for days experiencing major traumatic event and then stabbed, is fine the next day. Meawnhile Singha who was all healthy and fine, up to getting hit a few time and almost getting strangled, spends days in a coma...
It is understandable that some folks think the OFDO trailer is missing something, or doesn't quit hit the mark. Jojo developed a unique visual flair and signature directing style that instantly stands out and leaves an impression.
It took me a few tries, but finally I was able to watch the trailer without seeing it through JoJo lens. And what I saw was a an effective trailer in itself, not Jojo, but then other than the man himself, who is?
At times the trailer seemed to ape too close to Jojo's style, or at least mimic the OF trailer in terms of fast cuts and rhythmic beats set to intense scenes. Maybe a mistake, but it's an acknowledgement by Ninew that Jojo is his mentor and collaborator, and of course he will be inspired by his senior - while ensuring that there is some visual and aesthetic continuity between OF and OFDO. Yet Ninew is his own man and won't be trying to copypaste Jojo's style wholesale -he'll develop his own.
Maybe this is reaching, but if Ninew had done a subpar job, would he have gotten the new WinnySatang series? something to think about.
Also, a few have expressed concern that the OFDO trailer seems 'tame' compared to OF. Not sure what that means. Do people know that before he was a director, Ninew has even more extensive experience as an acting coach on several series like Love In the Air, Step by Step, Mandate, Boy Next World and others. Pretty sure on the GMMTv side he's been the acting coach for almost all of Jojo's series to date, including the ones he co-directed like Warp Efefct and OF. So if by 'tame' they mean the NC scenes, rest assured, we haven't seen anything yet.
I do somewhat agree that the unexpected loss of OhmLeng changed the dynamic from the pilot. In the pilot, OhmRome was much more fiery and confrontational with Jack, more dominant with Raffy - and seemed to be a co-conspirator egging Dean on. In the trailer, AouRome's link with Jack is NOT shown. He is aslo the one being coaxed by Dean and seems less in control of Raffy.
LengRaffy was a sparkplug - gave MixDean a run for his money. BoomRaffy meanwhile, seems a bit more passive, less pushy. But it is implied by Boom that Raffy will be a black flag in the series, so again, it remains to be seen. We might be surprised as the power balance flips.

Let's give it a chance before criticizing it to kingdom come. If people think it isn't as good as OF, then OF itself is only a few clicks away on YT.
Ok maybe I missed something…What do you mean the story was rewritten? Isn’t it based on a novel that was written…
The author of the novel read one of the early screenplays. Whether this version was the definitive one filmed and unaltered remains to be seen. So yes, it is possible for the story to be adjusted after OhmLeng pulled out, after AouBoom joined the cast, during the shooting process, then the long post-production and editing period.
Just a heads-up - GMMTV never follows novels to a T. They always change some things up, add more content, and…
It depends. By the looks of it, MOS story and the plot twists all followed what was in the novel. So, everything was already spoiled. But that was a mystery genre type series. Maybe engaging in major changes btween the novel and the series would have messed up everything since each clue and plot twist had been planned in advance beforehand.
i wish this also had a lesbian character, namcheum was such a great character and i loved her. the s1 had more…
Jojo director of GR and Ninew of OFDO might have discussed whether having gays in GR and lesbians in OFDO would be feasible or, because both series are airing the same year, just keep it separate. So, this feels like a deliberate decision to keep thrm in their oen series. Unless we get gay men in GR, which would mean everythung above is invalidated. 😥
They've been ramping up the promo this week. EM variety show appearances, MINT magazine interviews, fan-meets. It is nearly inconceivable that this won't lead to the climax - being the poster and trailer reveal, probably by this weekend by the latest ( fingers crossed )

So that's 3 times now i reckon.

Eps 13 was me going WTF is that it? when the whole thing was resolved the way it was.
Guess Change really needed to wrap things up
