The initial plot of "step-brother" isn't original for sure, but wow man! The story and depth as well as camera work on this are amazing.
The more you look at the 2 MLs, the more they look so good together. The kiss was so much better than I expected it to be. Glad that this is not a short series where there are plenty of room for things to develop between them. <3
I like how mature Dai is over here and Shun learning how to apologise, putting his own ego or so down for this. Totally understood his background if he didn't knew how and also on what kind of family he really crave for. Also Taeheon over there being a big brother giving advice! Finally their interactions gave me butterflies as compared to the past episode on and off "drama"
Taeheon, why nobody see your charm yet. I for sure will pick you if Kabuto ain't gonna do so.
And also, finally Ryota giving that chance to Gensei <3. Hope they develop something more.
I am very surprised with how mature and easygoing the young ones here are. The environment over at JP must have been "harsh" to make these babies grow up so fast. Doesn't feel like these young ones are 22 or 23 at all. The E personality of Ikuo and Dai are so strong, they really do give the feeling that they can take good care of someone even though they are the younger one. (Dai being some months younger than Shun, and Ikuo being interested in Kazuto whom is about 5 years older.)
It's just a pity this series is abit short for a month high budget production. Could have seen their day to day interaction more than the scenes of what the producer squeeze in within these episodes
He's not 16 anymore? XD He was 15 when he auditioned for X-Fire. I'm glad they updated his profile pic.
Well, I know he's not 15 or 16 anymore, but even growing up/adulting will still maintain some form of feature of Similarity. He just look totally different. I read somewhere he grew inner double eyelid and have been wearing eyelid tape since. So I guess it's partially makeup cosmetic as well
Episode 10 was great, MK finally talk things out with YJ. One talks and the other listens while both are being calm at that moment as compared to the night before is a great watch. Good for MK for stepping out of his comfort zone and be honest about his feeling than being an avoidant before. Unfortunately, as time past and moving on, feelings for YJ probably no longer the same as MK. Hope MK finds his happiness outside of the show as I know he ain't actually that interested in MS.
The same I hope for MS as he is a great person, trying to be understanding while not being an asshole as well as being able to read the room.
SJ and Hwi are like the best pair of friendships made in this season over a short period of time. Able to express some form of honesty and share with one another their thoughts and interests about the other men. Wish them the best outside of this show as realistically, working adults based on SM and JS's age for example, will find it harder to accept such younger partners in reality. This is very true in the G community even for my country, so I totally understand why SJ and Hwi didn't have any catch from the other men especially when their age are revealed.
SM wasn't honest with Hwi on why he lost interest. He did mentioned Hwi has the best personality match with him but he is overall still bothered with the age gap and didn't tell Hwi this. It was a jerk move to isolate him on the 3rd floor and then tell him he ain't that interested in him anymore, and also on why he ain't interested with other men. I mentioned before, I have no idea why 2 men are heads over heel over SM. I seriously don't see the charm. He's not bad looking, but not the best looking in the show imo.
I got nothing much about JS, also not that interested in their love triangle lol. SM and JS might like each other more but obviously their interest in dates differ so much that they won't work out. Hope they realised soon cause even if they were to start something, it's very unlikely that the relationship will last. There will be quite some problem that arises as compared to Hwi personality of being so accommodating. That's a mature young one over there.
I wish whatever works out for HM. While he might be hiding some ugly side about himself since he's in front of the camera, but him and YJ together on dares are a great watch. Whether they end up together or not doesn't matter, hope they can still remain as good friends since they do look out for each other.
First off I just wanna say ALAN! I don’t know why people aren’t taking about him. He’s such a sweetie, and…
Yeah, I wish there's more screentime of Taeheon too, but it seems the show gives more screentime to casts whom have others as their interest(s)
Dai being the most popular boy on first episode, subsequently it's just Dai x Shun
Shun starting to be interested in Dai despite saying no man is his type. And then his on and off issue thing
Gensei starting to be interested with Ryota and currently is interested with Ryota
Ryota was interested with Shun then turned to Kazuto.
Usak's limited time in the show before leaving for his work abroad and confessed to Kazuto before leaving.
Kazuto being the most popular person currently with interest from Alan, Ryota, Usak and "Taeheon"
Alan being interested in Kazuto and Kazuto was interested in him too. Alan is also the icebreaker man behind most of the silence and is sweet to everyone. Being a good listener as well as giving good suggestion as well. Kazuto not so much into him cause he is too touchy on the get go perhaps. Pacing and all is not what Kazuto would like to find.
Taeheon initial interest based on first impression was Kazuto, but nobody expressed any interest in him and he isn't taking any initiative in doing anything either so not much screentime to show anything until it's his turn to work in Coffee Van. So pretty much why he has the least screentime in a show that in real life was lengthy, but air time is very short.
Seems to be Kazuto, the lovely man I stan. Knows how to cook so well and is good looking oooo. Not too sure why…
Tbf, he was interested in Dai at the start, but even the entire cast knows about Dai and Shun, so I think it's wise to not be involved and focus on people who wants to know more about you, and see if you are compatible with them.
The problem with Alan is he is being too touchy on the get go. They barely know each other that well and he starts to give him hug and all which ain't Kazuto's pace of dating/relationship at least.
I really think, and I say this with zero malice, Shun needs some serious therapy. I totally get where he's coming…
He needs to fix himself. Like I believed he has been trying to find a partner whom can fix him but failed. And even when his previous relationship was smooth sailing, but he said something was missing and he broke it off iirc.
Honestly, in his current state, getting into any relationship will fail anyways. Until he fix himself which no one can. Dai wants to understand and seems to don't mind that effort to fix him, but Shun be like playing hard to get almost every time. Don't get me wrong, by fixing Shun doesn't mean to change him or anything, but to accept the way he is and maybe can heal him in the process but Shun's like: "No, I am overwhelmed"
Then next moment wants Dai attention but don't want him to touch him. Shun can touch Dai but Dai can't touch Shun. Too complicated that hardly anyone can understand lol
New guy Ikuo is adorable but I feel like Dai will start liking him causing a stir between him and Shun. I hope…
Seems to be Kazuto, the lovely man I stan. Knows how to cook so well and is good looking oooo. Not too sure why so much attention is given to Dai and Shun xD
Imo, Dai and Ikuo match each other better so I am shipping them instead of Shun
Dai's playboy vibe does put off to Shun negatively I understand, but I believed some actions including the Naked photo of himself were part of a young past. Who doesn't have a past? What I see of Dai here is someone whom has shown some form of maturity and responsibility despite being one of the youngest among the casts. I also salute his patience with Shun as Shun ain't someone he has handle before so he is partially learning on how to get to know him better.
Shun on the other hand is quite pessimistic. I don't deny him as a person. Just interacting with him is truly tiring. He might have gone through alot per say, but imo he needs to fix himself. From the interactions he has with someone whom he may have interest with, he seems to easily get turn off by things and thus display some sort of avoidant traits. He is not yet ready for a relationship because he breaks easily. One minor thing can trigger and turn him off even though there's nothing wrong. Can't imagine if he were to start living together with someone. To start a relationship, it's not healthy to have one change for another or so just to match their vibe. So if he can't accept Dai for whom he fully is, then it's better for them to just not get together and stay as friends or so instead. While Dai has some traits that I understand may put someone off, but at least towards Shun I can see he has been accommodating most of the times and he did tried despite not knowing or understand how. There's something about Shun that is broken and I don't think anyone can fix it for him other than himself. 23 is still young, can grow up as he learn to get over it by himself. Else every relationship he going to have will still fail. Waste both party's time
I like Kazuto from the start, but Usak made a very nice lasting impression though maybe his first impression wasn't as good as the last due to his work. It's just sad he is going abroad to work else he might have his chance should he be able to stay longer, but glad he did what he felt he need to do before he leaves so that there is no regret.
Being in a relationship is great, but having someone to have a crush on and confessed when you usually don't, being a more proactive person than the usual passive person for a change is definitely nice. I am falling for Usak too lol.
Taeheon has too little screen time maybe cause there aren't any reciprocating person or "drama" but I do wish someone could also see his charm
I only watched till Ep 5 to comment on this, this are the current 3 I care about.
YJ and MK. I don't really see the drama but just 1 person wanting to talk things out with the other while the other one probably was hurt and not ready for full controntational.
Just 2 person of different personality barely able to communicate properly.
Not too sure how their situationship came to an end when YJ says MK didn't seem to want a relationship at that point then the question is: Who asked who or both waiting to be asked by the other party to get into a relationship but neither initiate and then just turn out to assume not interested?
Anyways, while YJ's tonality here to MK wasn't very pleasant, but I can understand why he lose his cool because MK is basically an avoidant. Says he don't care and all but his actions don't walk the talk
YJ already tried to talk to MK at the start so that everyone knows that they know each other but MK has a different thought.
On the other hand, I do understand that being ghosted do hurt but I also understand that YJ thinks as long as he stop responding, eventually time will let both of them move on. Though maybe MK hasn't. YJ explained his actions which I feel is reasonable on his POV, but maybe MK still couldn't accept it. YJ is losing a little bit of patience as MK is being ambiguous and avoidant.
But at least the next episode seem like MK is ready to talk, so let's just see how their relationship may improve from there.
I don't approve YJ's attitude of being rude to MK time to time but at least I do see that he is real. Even in front of camera, he's not hiding his bad sides. I see the positive and negative traits of him as a person but let's be real. Even in real life, there are people we just treat differently and more negatively compared to some others. So kindly stop judging like you're a saint whom is kind to everyone lol
On a side note, I can see that SJ is a really good person, and I am not sure what's the deal with SM that makes 2 person go heads over heel for him. My Stan is HM
Question for you guys.. Is there at least a few times where you can tell they are into each other?
I would say it was more one sided at the beginning till the mid. More obvious near the end due to the time and things they went through together
Ruan Lan Zhu's pov is very obvious he is into 090 since the beginning. Then somewhere in between 090 fall for Ruan Lan Zhu but not as explicit in expression. The ban might have been more due to Ruan Lan Zhu's gesture and expression imo though I wouldn't say it was necessary to ban this drama for Chinese side since there's no physical intimacy
The more you look at the 2 MLs, the more they look so good together. The kiss was so much better than I expected it to be. Glad that this is not a short series where there are plenty of room for things to develop between them. <3

I personally like 李佳欢 - 失眠的夜 very much
5 out of 8 men, besides Dai and Shun, as well as Gensei being interested with him. Very honorable title!
I like how mature Dai is over here and Shun learning how to apologise, putting his own ego or so down for this.
