On What's Wrong with Secretary Kim Oct 7, 2020
Such a cute and funny drama. I have been so stuck on Thai dramas lately that I am super behind on the Kdrama world lol. This drama reminded me how well-rounded Kdramas are and how they give you a taste of comedy, drama and romance. I loved the quirky but cute relationship between the ML and FL. I definitely think that there is no woman that could understand or handle him other than the FL. I was lowkey reminded of Tsukasa's character in Hana Yori Dango. They share the traits of being eccentric and a narcissist but very lovable. Both very dedicated and committed to the FL.
I loved how the drama reminded me of life working in an office and/or just having fun work buddies. They did a really good job giving all the characters screen time and they all had different personalities. My favorite characters other than the leads had to be the ML bff Park Yoo Shik and Ms. Bong. Great comedic timing and absolutely hilarious.

So true. I didn't realize this is a very common trope in J-dramas. The ML usually don't even realize other women…
If you don't mind age-gap relationships then check out Hajimete Koi wo Shita Hi ni Yomu Hanashi. The ML constantly shrugs off and doesn't like other women touching him. He is also more reserved with women that are not the FL. Hana Yori Dango especially Season 1, the ML is quite rude to other women but is very committed to the FL. Their relationship kind of reminds me of the leads in What's Wrong With Secretary Kim. I don't think anyone other woman could handle or understand the ML lol.

Interesting.... This is a common trope in Japanese doramas, at least in shojo manga derived dramas . Such a character…
So true. I didn't realize this is a very common trope in J-dramas. The ML usually don't even realize other women exist other than their female relatives and the FL. It's like they have blinders on. I love that lol.

Great J-drama! The hype is definitely real and I am very happy that J-dramas are getting some love. I used to watch them all time in the early 2000s and have fallen back in love with them. You definitely get hooked within the first couple of episodes and end up falling for the leads. I thought the FL was very pretty and adorable and thought she had a great expressive face in scenes. Ryusei-kun is bae and I get more and more impressed with his acting. I follow him on IG and he is so chill, laid back and goofy and I couldn't believe the energy he was channeling in this drama. Tsubaki as a character has this cold but sensual exterior (super sexy character). You realize how he is a softie inside and completely falls head over hills for Nao.

I really enjoyed trying to figure out who the killer was and loved the major plot twist. I enjoyed all of the side characters (even the mother lol) and thought they added different flavors to the scenes. I loved all of the desserts and the explanations behind them and was hungry all the time lol. I will definitely start reading the manga and hope for a season 2!

I enjoyed the lakorn but I do think people rating it a 10/10 are doing too much. I think because of the chemistry…
I totally agree. I think Kleun Cheewit is a good lakorn to introduce to someone who has never watch a Thai drama. I ranked it at an 8/10 as well. There is an issue with plotholes and having drama just to have drama in lakorns. I agree on Padiwaradda and BPS. I literally just finished rewatching BPS the other day lol. I am hoping the new lakorn with Bella and Pope will end up being really good. I really like both of them and have high expectations. I heard Pope tends to only act in one lakorn a year so that he can really focus on his acting.

That's a really good point about pitch changing with the language! You know who else has a super deep voice? Lee Sun Gyun. I remember so many girls commenting about that when Coffee Prince aired lol.

Omg I felt the same way! I couldn't believe I saw a sex scene like that in a lakorn. I actually gasped and I was brought up on American shows. That's one thing I do like about Ch7. They tend to be alot more relaxed with kissing and certain love scenes. Not annoying slow motion forehead kisses (Ch3 smh). I was disappointed with that low effort love scene in ep7 as well. Like don't go big at the beginning and then get all shy towards the end

I was a little disappointed with this lakorn. It started out really well and then it hit its peak and slowly died out. I was so ready for the last episode to end. I agree with the other posters that were alot of plotholes and unanswered questions. Lakorns are really bad about that smh. I felt like the ML and SL kept switching in importance and majority of viewers were supporting the SL. I think this is a good lakorn to watch for a weekend and if you want to be slightly entertained. Btw, Prang is an absolute doll and has hair to die for! I hope Ch3 continues to have more of a variety in the looks of their na'eks. They tend to go for a certain type and so it was nice to see a change.

I just wrote a review, I am blown away by the high ratings this crap got. The FLs acting is so hard to stomach.…
I enjoyed the lakorn but I do think people rating it a 10/10 are doing too much. I think because of the chemistry and sexual tension led people to ranking it so high. I had to same issue with Kleun Cheewit. I really liked that lakorn and thought it was well acted but people were acting like it was the best lakorn of all time. I like Mookda but she still needs alot of improvement. I can tell she get's super uncomfortable in super close face to face scenes with the pra'ek. She cannot maintain eye contact for too long. I think this is her first mature role as well.

Yes, it does remind me of Mario. I love Kim but she does have a almost nasally guttural sounding voice when she speaks in Thai. I was so surprised at how sweet she sounds in English when I heard her in the lakorn with James Ma.

I think Kem should practice more on his screen presence, the way that he talks and also his voice. The acting…
I noticed he tends to have this really blank almost stoic face in regular scenes. I had to warm up to him and think he might have loosened up as the lakorn went on. He does great at emotional scenes but needs to work on being more expressive even if the scene is calm. He's super young so he will keep getting better with practice. I like his voice and think he's really good at playing with the pitch depending on the scene.

This drama is really good! Like the hype is real. I haven't watched a Jdrama in such a long time and this reminded me why I loved them so much in the mid 2000s.

I really enjoyed this drama! It was so nice to be able to comment and have a So Wayree group to follow lol. The main strength of this lakorn is the chemistry between the two leads. People can say what they want to say about slap/kiss lakorns but there is something really addicting about them. I was really impressed with Kem's acting especially with him being so young. He really excels in emotional scenes and is probably one of the best pra'eks at crying. I see people already comparing this to Kleun Cheewit and again I think its the chemistry. Both lakorns were not perfect but the chemistry is so fire that it makes up for many of the issues. I also think the fanservice and debating on if Kem and Mookda are dating in real life also aided in the craze. I am really happy for Ch7 and glad that the show brought in such high ratings. Ch3 needs to watch out lol. I love the lowkey shade when Na's dad was talking about how forehead kisses are for fathers and daughters lmao. I hope Ch3 takes note and gets it together with the kisses.

I noticed this as well. I wonder if she feels super awkward in scenes and cannot make direct eye contact. It makes her look awkward and can take away from the scene

I dropped this lakorn at episode 5. I have been wanting to watch a lakorn with Push but it seems many of his lakorns have weak storylines or I don't like his characters at all. I really feel like majority of people who stuck through this lakorn was due to Push. The man is absolutely beautiful but even his looks couldn't save this lakorn.

The storyline seemed interesting but the show is set up to make it come off more cheesy and corny. Majority of revenge/deception lakorns have a very specific look ( for ex. Ra Raerng Fai)and a dark theme to it. I couldn't take the ML seriously at all. In addition, his player ways kept me eye rolling every episode. I couldn't believe that the FL and her bff believed the words coming out of his mouth. You would really have to be naive or dumb to believe some of the things he was saying. I was actually rooting for his plot to fail all five episodes and was happy when outsiders kept messing it up for him. I could not support them as a couple. I didn't warm up to the FL and didn't think they looked good together. Its funny how the ML was the prettiest person in the entire show lol. The FL was very one dimensional and there was nothing that made her stand out. There were a couple of cute moments between the leads but it was all fake from the ML's side so I couldn't support it. I wish they had shown the ML fighting his attraction or interest with her in the beginning in the name of deception but they never did and it seems it will stay like that for the rest of the show. This lakorn is the reason why Thai dramas are not taken seriously at all. Just a ton of drama for no reason. I love lakorns and have no issue with the craziness but this one made no sense at all.

Thank you for letting me know about the cheating. I can handle alot in lakorns but I don't do infidelity. Many lakorns really should be labeled as dark romance or a bully romance. It’s a genre in literature that is not everyone’s cup of tea. They really should start to give disclaimers on this kind of content so people who get triggered can avoid it.

I enjoyed this lakorn. I was a huge shipper of Pimmy and Boom in Once Upon a Time in My Heart and was happy to see them paired again. Amazing chemistry and I thought they looked really good together. This lakorn isn't for people who cannot stand the stereotypical aggressive/possessive pra'ek because you will get alot of that. I will say I got a little SL Syndrome towards the end of the show which is ironic because I had SL Syndrome with Boom in the lakorn with Pimmy. One of the major reasons I liked the lakorn was the music and how the show revolved around a band. I really enjoyed that part and it also reminded me on how easy it is for bands to break up over issues lol. I would give this lakorn a solid 8/10.
