"Amagi acts like a child"... Amagi IS a child...? He's a high school freshman, 15 maybe, of course he's going…
I don't have a problem with Amagi, in fact he's the only character I like in this series. My issue is the poor writing in this drama. What we have is a bunch of internal angst ridden monologue and awkward ill placed flashbacks. There is barely any interaction or development with the main couple that would convince me that they are well suited. They honestly seem like they're not. Usually in a good drama you are SHOWN why the two leads are meant for each other through discussion (dialogue), several present day scenes, and adversities they overcome in life together. We get none of that here. Have this couple even had a straight forward talk to each other? I don't recall any. Again this is just my opinion.
This family (the parents) were all kinds of messed up...goodness gracious! However, I really liked the movie. The chemistry and acting was amazing from the two leads. Yoshizawa Ryo's crying scenes felt so real..he has the most expressive eyes.
This explains a lot lol. These dramas are usually dragged out, bland, and extremely superficial. I've tried to give them a chance but often drop them midway. There's only a couple I've actually liked.
Oh no! I was going to watch this because your review is so well written and convincing and then I came to the…
Thanks, I actually just wrote the review last night and was tired, so I added more detail today that I forgot. And I know what you mean about when close ups are done wrong and come across awkward or silly. I think it's done right in this drama though.
I agree with all of this, it doesn’t even seem like Takara likes Amagi that much? Of course everyone is allowed…
Exactly, I like cute and fluffy dramas and this one has its moments, but there is definitely something missing. I think it could be a poor script and lack of chemistry from the two leads. I found that 2 really good bl highschool dramas that have everything this one lacks are Life: Senjou no Bokura and Utsukushii Kare. Those dramas have a nice plot and character progression.
I feel like I'm watching a different drama than the people in the comments lol. I'd say this show is nowhere near the current rating of 8/10. More like a 5 or 6. Amagi acts like a child that's had too much sugar. The leads date in the 5th episode felt like Takara was babysitting Amagi. In fact a couple of times he had to tell Amagi not do something because it was dangerous. The ending was fitting when they showed Takara holding hands with a child Amagi because that's what their relationship is like. Idk this show has zero plot, amateur awkward acting, and no depth. It's not the worst bl drama out there but it's certainly not the best either.
I just read that the original network said this drama is 8 episodes and not 10 like posted on here. So the next episode is the final one airing September 23rd. Did I read this right? FL becomes a dog and the only way this curse can break is if some boy kisses her? Yeah this has problematic written all over it. Says a lot about how the writer feels about women, huh? I bet the fl will suffer from the lights are on but nobody's home syndrome while the ml is a complete jerk to her. Hmm yeah major pass! Plot sounds contrived and dumb as hell, but no doubt this will be a hit and subbed immediately because of this idol. It's a "True beauty" part 2 haha.
A plank of wood could replace Takara and it wouldn't make a bit of difference. There's definitely something missing from this drama. Idk feels empty somehow. Will continue watching out of curiosity at this point.
Shoe string budget (3 locations: her bedroom, another room that's supposed to be an office, and the advertised restaurant for each episode. This drama is VERY repetitive!! None of the guys are ikemen either, except for the male lead and he's barely in the show. Basic premise of every episode: Female lead looks for "good looking" guys at restaurants to get turned on by them as that's the only way she can eat and write her food column. Several creepy scenes of her staring at basic af dudes while she has an orgasmic response followed by close up shots of eating. That's it. That's the show.
Funny that you mention the lip gloss. I remember the scene because it felt like something was off. The lips just…
Haha it seemed out of nowhere. All of sudden he had super shiny glossed lips. It was only for that one scene, I guess the make up artist got carried away lol. I wonder if this drama will also end on a sad note since it kept showing the break up scene.
Hmmn kinda disjointed and the two leads seem to just feel these intense feelings out of nowhere. First episode felt rushed. I hope their story gets fleshed out more. I like that they actually look like high school students though and the drama is intriguing. The boy with the dark brown hair and bad haircut had so much lipgloss on in the eavesdropping hallway scene that I got distracted ahaha. Anyway, I liked it enough that I'm looking forward to the next episode.
