Beautiful and subtle drama that tells the story through multiple time-lines to keep the story fresh. Rarely seen stories about death and hope, and how it impacts not just on the son but all of the surrounding family and nearby friends. It's more a story of friendship, possible regrets against the backdrop of a changing China. The story of Bi Yun's mother and her life to the present day and her health is also touching and realistic and well researched regarding Alzheimers disease. Plenty of tear jerker moments, that mixes in with realism of things many of us will have experience or likely to experience. Dong Jie in one of her most commanding roles with a great cast, it really is a treat to see how the make-up department aged the actors so realistically.

And so they maybe, but then again, how many other countries' governments are corrupt too? Tax evasion is a serious crime in most countries with jail sentences in EU, UK & the US. To those who think that others that do the accounting for the said actor/company - it is still legally the owner/actor who is responsible for their taxes being paid. It means, Song Zu'er made a mistake either by trusting her family or employing the wrong people if guilty. The amounts are eye watering for the average person let alone in their industry, which is why they are held high in accountability.

I'm afraid you've come with a 6 paragraph essay stating it like it's fact. Truth is, we all don't really know and I very much doubt it's the reasons stated. Some might even wish it was that dramatic. The fact that many dramas have had to be put back or even withdrawn could be due to other factors. As I write, another 2 are held, but I guess others can't give it such a sensational reason as yours because they don't have subjects that just so happen to be about some Taiwanese celeb.

Scripts were strong for the older characters but when it came to the younger actors/actresses, they fell flat. The story turned all mushy and unbelievable and in the end you can't root for annoying Song Yang who's self serving no matter how the scripts try to turn it round. He was very unlikeable and trying to pit Kong Liang against him was cringeworthy and cliched. Female lead falling for Song Yang also seemed forced and the message they were trying to feed us felt insincere considering what the whole drama was about. She wouldn't have been interested in him at all. As for her father, another let down with no logic.

The story works because it doesn't try to give one side and not the other. The characters from the stories are relatable and more realistic to many in all walks of life. The reason it has success is the fact that it draws you into asking if you were there, would you have been any better than the so-called villains.

Apart from the true crafts people that feature, this is a poor attempt at a story that's weak and truly not with reality. The fact that a character like Tao Tang can actually keep secrets on behalf of the female lead is truly horrifying and wrong. This is then re-sold back as tasteful when in reality, it's creepy. Quirky is sold as clever is so dated and in the end, you are not rooting for her but begging for her downfall. The story telling tries to be witty in a middle-of-the-road way and doesn't hit the spot throughout. It's a shame as the only highlight are people's clothes.
