We move one stop closer to setting standards for relationships and then one comes along saying they prefer toxic ones. People hear that and expect that most people like it or should like it and treat their partners like crap.
YOU missed the first part of my reply. Either give the other person closure and leave OR fight. Lune didn't do either it seems. There's nothing wrong with wanting to discontinue a relationship, but you should be doing that with respect for the other person. As much as life may not be fair for you, that doesn't give you the licence to be unfair to others. Also, next time, I would appreciate seeking clarification before jumping to conclusions and accusing people of victim blaming.

Phrase it like you have just now then. There's a difference between expressing a preference and calling out a positive change as 'losing their identity'.
I already said that. I was merely making myself as clear as possible with the reasoning requested for my original statement so I don't have to keep replying to people to clarify. Aaand, if you're going to ask me to calm down about it being fictional...I don't score anywhere near some of the people on MDL...
I guess I'm a cynic cuz everyone seems to love this one but OUUU I hate this drama. I guess having been a long-term…
You must have been watching some of the older lakorns then. I didn't think it was corny and cringey at all. Besides, one thing I have learnt is everyone thinks something romantic or sweet is cringey until somebody does it for them. We need more sunshine ie Mataladas in the world and I don't think any other actress could have pulled off the character the way Toey did. When you say lakorns used to have their own 'identity' and they are 'trying too hard' to cater to 'today's world', what do you mean? When you say something has an identity it has to be something that makes them unique. You really think that having 'toxicity' can be said as having an identity and be given a positive connotation that way? Do you think the Thai people themselves would be happy to being associated with 'the country with soaps that romanticises abuse' tag? I don't think so. However at the end of the day, it is a fact that native population's opinions matter more and TV ratings have dropped. But TV ratings have dropped globally! If I were to take a specific example, I read an article where they were saying a particular channel in India's highest TVR was 22.4 in 2002, 5.36 in 2020 and 2.3 in 2024! Moreover, most of us know why TV ratings have dropped anyway-OTT. Do you really think having progressive content is going to stop people from watching stuff? You think people care enough to think 'this is not what I'm used to' and not watch anything they're served? The audience just gets diluted to different platforms. Also if your final statement were true, GMMTV which isn't as popular within Thailand as it is internationally and brings out relatively progressive content have had better ratings in the recent past than they have ever had. So no, nobody is 'trying hard to cater to today's world'. They are trying to show the RIGHT thing. You made preferences between toxic and 'progressive' sound similar to choosing a favourite colour, 'Black or white' where there is no right or wrong. I think we should change these terms of progressive and traditional to right and wrong in that order.
This might sound harsh but I'll try to articulate it in a way such that it doesn't sound too judgemental...Everyone holds different views on what a good person should be like...Even though it'll seem like I'm getting too deep for a TV series, most people prefer protagonists of shows or films to embody those ideals of a 'good' person they hold...Hence my opinion: I can accept that a lot of people do not have the confidence to stand up for themselves but I feel they should always have the strength to stand up for those they love...From the trailer it seems like Lune was in a relationship with a girl called Sera at their previous school but was severely bullied for hanging around the popular girl and hence changed school. It looked like Lune succumbed to the bullying and didn't give Sera closure. That's a red flag for me. Lune falls for another girl with the same attributes at the new school (does he have a type?) and what's to say he wouldn't give up this time? I know this time he'll distance himself from Star because of friendship and I can accept that as the right thing to do (you can probably tell I'm so tired from the two guys fall for the same girl trope from TSITP, MLWTWB etc-like your existing relationships cannot be so weak that a girl comes along and breaks it and girls cannot be portrayed so badly as being constantly confused and insensitive of these guys' feelings all the time) I'm really sorry for the long ass reply but I saw someone commenting that Lune's a green flag and I just didn't think he was hence I commented the above. Lune's incredibly relatable, sweet and an excellent listener. He has some green flag qualities but at the end of the day if green flags are to do with love and relationships you have to be a fighter. Not physically go for someone, be all macho and all that but you've got be a fighter. My last statement is echoed by Keanu Reaves on Drew Barrymore's talk show, 'If you're a lover you gotta be a fighter...because if you don't fight for your love, what love do you have?' Lune is more of a beige flag not green.
The comedy in this drama IS over the top...the kind children would laugh at but I must say there is a good vibe that I can't explain...maybe it's the lack of a plot and hence no unnecessarily long drama or it might be how adorable/wholesome Mueang is...Is adorable the right word? I know a lot of you are disappointed because of expectations built up due to Mark and Yaya's previous show Kleun Cheewit but I don't get how people can enjoy that kind of toxicity...Maybe I'll get called out for not being in the right place considering it's a Thai drama ie 'misunderstanding, revenge, forced kiss, sexual assault, ML's enlightenment about FL in last 5 minutes putting poor Buddha who attained in 7 days to shame. Maybe I'm a sucker for green flag ML's and at the moment I'm simping on Mueang Prakan!
I started watching this drama and came to the comments section afterwards. I don't know why most of you don't get that the plot isn't as deep as it sounds about the dad being the FL's fiance. It is so obvious this was all planned by the dad to get his son ie the ML back in his life from Ep 2!
