Since it's a global drama they don't want the korean history to be known like this.If you don't understand fully,…
@Autumnshinae I do understand actually and I had mentioned this in my initial post. My point is that even your reasoning of 'They don't want Korean history to be known like this' doesn't hold up because they HAVE edited it and corrected the scene. Moreover, taking it down does not erase that the show existed nor does it wipe people's memories clean or something so like what is the purpose of doing it is what I'm trying to understand...If there's a solid rationale behind it that undeniably changes things for the better, I would agree with the move!!!
I feel sad thinking that all the awards ceremonies this year will probably omit Perfect Crown even if it was worthy of a nomination in some categories because of the controversy...
Hypocrisy at its peak...Koreans are sensitive when it comes to their historical accuracy (which I don't think is inherently bad, by the way) but it's OK to be ignorant towards everyone else 😑
Is this show seriously getting cancelled??? Don't get me wrong, I completely understand where Koreans are coming from with their sensitivity to historical accuracy in this case, coming from a country that was colonised for over 200 years, but the associated people have apologised and they have corrected the error in the show...So what exactly is the necessity of it getting cancelled? How does that make things better? That's what I can't get my head around...
great point but I think this is simply not it, nor is it realistic. if we go by this, we'll be laying off talented…
I did not mean to imply that talented actors should be laid off. I was more trying to point out that typecasting irrespective of the calibre of the actors hasn't worked favourably for the drama. Nor does it for the actors!
I actually think it's the opposite. I think it would have been better as 8 episodes. The plot is WAY too underdeveloped…
This is a bad analogy but the plot needed to either be a cookie or a cake...both delectable...but nobody wants a half baked cake, it's not edible...you'd rather have a cookie instead

To be fair, I see where you're coming from, but that would only work if they got rid of all the unnecessary subplots that they have left loose ends on and make a coherent linear narrative where the storyline is predictable but at least clear...This is neither
Why are everyone so pissed by the monarchy being abolished??!! It was predictable and tbh the best for everyone…
I don't think it's necessarily the abolition of the monarchy that's annoyed the majority of people (although there are people that are), some even predicted it right from the beginning...it's the abruptness of it...It hasn't been integrated well in the script...This doesn't mean uttering it explicitly in the form of dialogue but more so like others explained- give the audience a reason to root for the abolition of the monarchy even before it is included in the script...I'm not explaining this very well...It's very difficult to articulate how to attain higher audience satisfaction because they're based on feelings...
A flaw of this drama that I looked over initially but feel would've made a difference to audience satisfaction is the predictability and under-utility of actors...Perfect Crown seems like it had a good budget and instead of using it to flesh out the story to the 16 episodes it needed, it seemed to have splurged it on well-known actors and then not even used them properly! E.g. We all knew 'Jin Mu' was going to be in an antagonistic role because he was perfect in Alchemy of Souls and was typecast into a similar role in this. I feel like if they had used a different actor, we wouldn't have been as 'underwhelmed'...Same goes for the actors playing 'Tae Ju', 'Court Lady Choi', 'Steward Kim' and cameos from Im Chul Soo, Yoon Byung Hee and Kim Dae Gon...This is no hate towards the actors themselves, they all deliver all the time but that's exactly kinda the problem...we've seen it before...I don't necessarily mind cameos but when there's too many and that too from insanely talented actors, you can't help but feel like the role is too small for them and yet you still have to pay them what they deserve...so poor production management

Are yall really shocked the man who watched his brother be forced into a loveless marriage, manipulated, and then…
I don't think it's necessarily the abolition of the monarchy that's annoyed the majority of people (although there are people that are), some even predicted right at the beginning...it's the abruptness of it...It's the fact that everything you've stated in your comment(which is nonetheless absolutely true) had to be inferred...It hasn't been integrated well in the script...
The next episode is the last episode but there are still so many topics that were untouched or not discussed at…
I just finished writing a similar comment. The editing was getting on my nerves too! Like, I pressed a 10 second fast forward and we're in a completely different scene! Apart from Huiju's family they casually added Aide Choi's background in the script as if you were namedropping a restaurant or something and it has no relevance at all! I mean, why include it at all then? I hate when one creates too many subplots and then don't tie any of the ends! My brain is going haywire!
I have no idea why this won a script writing contest.
1. The pacing is poor-this series actually NEEDED the 16 episodes and rushed the last episodes as a result. 2. All the characters are underdeveloped-we got fed bits of information about each character that don't sufficiently justify the actions they are respectively taking, most obviously so for the supposed antagonist-Jeong Woo 'oppa' 3. Most importantly, what is the plot (that which the whole script is about) ??? None of it is coherent! I had been justifying the series until now against those who were complaining about the same because we all know what rom-coms are and looking for a gripping thriller is stupid but the series didn't even stay true to the genre! The first 6 episodes were OK and then it took a turn for the worse! It was a rinse and repeat of an accident happening to ML/FL who then lands in hospital or bed and is unconscious for a few hours again and again and again! 4. The scenes are also very choppy. It looks like they filmed way too much and the editors wanted to include as much as possible resulting in the lots of 2 minute setting scenes!
Before any of you come at me, I know I wouldn't ever be able to write a script for a series too but I have no idea how this won a script writing contest.
