Not Good Enough
Korean Drama '' When the Stars Gossip '' is a space melodrama with a love story at its center.
First of all, the cinematography is impressive, and the zero-gravity scenes were well acted and filmed. The whole settings, costumes, and space scenes felt authentic and realistic as well.
Also, the middle part of the drama was quite enjoyable. The story has unfolded and the characters got better, with some suspense thrown into the mix to keep things interesting. The comedy part was also entertaining and carefully mixed with the rest of the genres.
However, the love story was not as great. It was oddly paced and it wasn't believable that they fell in love instantly when they arrived in space. The couple did have some cute scenes together in those episodes in the middle part of the drama, but, overall, it wasn't satisfying. The more mature scenes also didn't make sense due to the circumstances when it was 'conducted'.
Generally, the first episodes and the last episodes were really bad, as the story was all over the place, and it was hard to ignore the plot holes and nonsensical twists. Actually, and even though one should turn their brain off when watching this drama as the physical rules do not really apply, some things simply were too much.
Also, the ending was rushed, with a montage used to show what the time jumps robbed the audience of, and a lot of the side characters' stories were left unsolved.
Finally, all the performances were great by everyone in the cast.
So, overall, four out of ten.
