I think he did plan for this to all happen but did not take in account of the “page boy” poisoning him ( which…
No, it showed both in episode 2 and episode 12 his head hitting a very pointy rock hard after he hit the ground and rolled. The hit to the head caused his amnesia. The poison was planned by him and his subordinate.
I'm still figuring out what he did but the part where he falls for her is real coming from him right?
IMO, yes, he truly fell for her. Like I said, none of his plans calculated for amnesia. Maybe if he'd kept his memories he could have held himself back and remained distant, but with the amnesia he truly got to know her and help her, and in the process fell in love. Also, I think it's worth mentioning that someone as highly intelligent and cunning as he is would definitely admire those traits in her and recognize a kindred soul, so I think he would have developed feelings for even if he hadn't gotten amnesia.
Honestly, anyone NOT watching ep 12 tonight should avoid these comments until you do. There is a MAJOR twist at the end and trust me, you do not want someone who is not using a spoiler cut to spoil it for you!
I still don’t understand the FL’s rationale for not telling him what his identity is. I can’t see any benefits…
Just my opinion, but given the reveal we got tonight at the end of ep 12 (and people, please don't spoil that twist without spoiler tags - not every here is watching SVIP schedule!), I think FL is cunning enough herself that she's felt something "wrong" about just happening to come across him and the whole thing. In the beginning, it was very clear that she didn't trust him, and little by little he has disarmed her. Even as soon as episode 11 when he was confessing his love, she still resisted returning his confession despite her obvious feelings because of the complication and unknowns about his background. Even if at this point she decides to trust him completely, who tried to k1ll him? By now, she's in love with him. It's obvious. Maybe part of her doesn't want him to remember who he is anymore, because it complicates everything so much if he does. Also, how does she explain NOT telling him even though she knew the whole time? "I didn't trust you, so I hid it from you" is pretty hard to say when you just committed yourself to marrying him, you love him, and what if he decides he doesn't want to be with her now?
My point is, her reason doesn't have to be something simple, and it doesn't have to stay the same the whole time.
OMG! Okay, not many dramas catch me COMPLETELY by surprise with a twist, but the end of ep 12 sure did tonight! So he planned THE WHOLE THING. HE set up the fake attack on HIMSELF, timed it to coincide with her carriage, and schemed his way into the household.
He just didn't count on getting amnesia and falling for her.
Oh man, I can hardly wait to find out how he's going to navigate this now that he remembers!
I totally hated his character in TBL. No it’s not the same here, he has no feelings for the FL, they are like…
Riiiiight?? He was SUCH a great character, I just wanted a different story arc for him. That character really allowed Wang Duo to showcase the subtlety of his acting.
Honestly, even a bittersweet ending for a CP with him would be better than yet another villain arc. I'm here for it. I love his SFL is also kind of a badass. Super excited to watch now. Thanks!

I loved his character so much I liked him better than the leads...right up until they ruined him. 😭 I just really wanted him to remain best friends with the ML and have his OWN love story not with the FL. I hate the trope of the SML loves the FL and turns evil because he can’t have her so much, and I especially hated it here. It ruined his amazing character.
Okay I started episode 1 and I had honestly forgotten that Wang Duo was in this, but now I need someone to spoil me, because The Blossoming Love left me with a deep and abiding need to 1. see this man in a ML role someday, and/or 2. watch every drama he is in, hoping to see him NOT turn into a villain every time.
So. He's the SML, I take it? Is this going to be a TBL situation where he has to have the worst SML story trope out there and love the FL until he turns into a villain?? PLEASE say no. I mean tell me the truth, but I really hope not.
Seriously, I love this man and his acting so much and I just need to know what I'm getting into so I can mentally prepare myself.
This is Bachelorette in ancient China. 🤣 I am loving seeing a different Neo Hou here. The FL looks so beautiful…
I love it! I've laughed out loud at so many scenes, and slow shots of the FL with her hair flowing in the wind or exchanging meaningful "looks" with the ML have all been beautiful.
Since I'm pretty sure the novel bears almost no resemblance to the show, I'm not sure anyone can. At least in my short perusal the only thing similar is the family is a tea family.
What a great way to start 2026! I am loving the drama so far. The leads are both incredibly smart and cunning people (I love how she always calls him scheming. Miss Rong, SO ARE YOU.)
One of my favorite tropes is when two incredibly smart characters slowly fall for each other. I am thoroughly enjoying his amnesia arc. Even without his memories, not for a MOMENT was he going to settle for being a mere stable boy. Watching him out maneuver all of the husband candidates like child's play has been vastly entertaining. No wonder the FL is falling for him. Also, props to the HILARIOUS moments provided by some of those other candidates. I've laughed out loud a few times.
Also, side note, but that steward?! That man is BUILT under those clothes. I about choked on my coffee when he was getting flogged for messing up.
SPOILERS from here through ep 10.
Anyway, like everyone else I detest He and especially Yang now, but I also kind of love how Yang messing up our leads engagement made LJL's true personality come even more to the forefront. He was NOT taking that BS lying down. Try to steal his woman? No, sir, not happening. I can't wait until he gets his memories back and someone tries to mess with him then.
I also really, really loved the scene where she tries to buy his continuing loyalty with all of the gold and land and shops and he's all "nope, not good enough" and she asks "well then what do you want?" and he just stares at her meaningfully and she immediately understands, gets totally flustered and kicks him out. 😂 She could not handle him looking at her like that. And then she IMMEDIATELY does a 180 once he's safely on the other side of the door and tells him yes, basically.
It doesn't work out thanks to that jerk Yang, but it was a great proposal scene and SO in character for them, ha ha.
Yes, it is a happy ending, although it APPEARS like a noble sacrifice at first, but BIG SPOILER, his death is…
By the end of the novel he would have been Emperor, so during his years of "death" she rules as regent while their son, the Emperor, is growing up. When his son is six, I think? He reappears at the palace as a "stranger", but because the Empress Regent had violently rejected every possible suitor or young nobleman sent to her by those trying to curry political favor, and she instantly accepted this stranger the moment he appeared, everyone around them knew immediately who he was. but they all pretend not to know that he's alive and who he is, and publicly he becomes the Empress Regent's...consort, I guess? But privately she and the son and those closest to them treat him as who he is.
That's just plain cruel.
My point is, her reason doesn't have to be something simple, and it doesn't have to stay the same the whole time.
