I felt so smug. I’m like yes finally I got validation that I was right and that whenever she showed weakness…
😂😂 Accepted! Yeah there is usually no point trying to talk to them. I made one comment that was just pointing out why Ming Yi was still lying and someone bit my head off. So I blocked them instead of responding.

Right?? Exactly! I felt the same as you! I tried to tell people but some of the Ming Yi hate was so intense I blocked a couple people over it. I don’t need to see that level of negativity!
I know. Literally my LEAST favorite plot for SML. Much more interesting to have an actual story for him and Fuyue.
Same. I hope each time they won’t do it. I think I’m most bitter about it in The Blossoming Love. MAN I loved the SML in that. I loved his friendship with the ML, loved his character, and then they ruined it all.
can someone explain the significance of the qingyun battles. I thought it was kind of like a corrupt sports competition…
It's not about pride at all for her. It's very unclear what exactly the bliss rain brings to whichever nation wins it, but it seems to have to do with prosperity and happiness for the people, and the Qingyun battle is ALL about winning that one thing. Ming Yi was raised and trained from birth to hide who she is (because women weren't permitted to be warriors) to fight for this for her people. She was abused and neglected by her own parents in the name of this, and told over and over again that she is only worth their time and affection if she is "useful" to them, and "useful" means winning the tournament. The ONE time she lost in ep 1, she was discarded, called worthless, and abandoned. Her father even wanted to k*ll her. She wants to get back her status and win again to win back her family's approval because it's the closest thing to love and acceptance she's ever known, but she's going to learn through JBZ what true love and acceptance really are.
All of this is also why she keeps lying to him, and why she's so afraid to be vulnerable and admit she loves him.
Well someone also said here, that the main thing on Ming Yi's mind is that she wants be to useful to others. This…
Yes, exactly. This poor girl has been raised and trained to believe that she is only worthy of affection (and life!) as long as she is useful, and definitely not if she shows her true self to people. She literally told him tonight that he has no idea of the inner demon she is hiding, and I'm pretty sure she meant HERSELF. Poor baby. :(
There is no doubt that JBZ's background was horrible and traumatic, but hers is, too, just in a different way. The fact is, they both went through some terrible stuff as children into young adulthood, deprived of love and protection from the adults in their lives. It's no wonder they're both full of trust issues and afraid to love and be loved. The way she panicked and ran away at the end of ep 19 was honestly heartbreaking. JBZ, despite all of his trauma, is more able to trust and be vulnerable than she is.
I need need need the doctor and the princess together so bad. Their chemistry is so crazyyy. Also situ might being…
Right?? And he chose not to hurt her father and to help her. I was REALLY WORRIED there when the show was having him act like he was going to do it, but I don't think we saw the full scene. He must have brewed a second bath or something. I was like "Oh no, if you do this there is no path back to the princess." But then we had that lovely scene of the two of them in the rain.
It's out now depending on your platform. Youku has it now. Netflix probably won't get it til tomorrow. Viki is FAR behind the others with only 6 episodes available.
Well, I certainly hope tonight's episode 19 put to rest all of the speculation everyone had about whether or not Ming Yi loves him. Because this episode made it VERY clear that she does. And that she also did when they went to the marriage stone.
That hot spring scene...man. Reminded me of the scenes in When Destiny Brings the Demon. Really well done. And the way she ran away at the end. I've seen a lot of people bashing poor Ming Yi in these comments up until now, and I hope tonight made it clear to everyone how broken she is. How her family deprived her of love and punished her until she became the warrior they needed to win the stupid bliss rain for them. That's all she ever was to them. She wants to be loved so badly, but she's so afraid no one will love the real her. That's why she lies and continues to lie. It's not just about getting the antidote. She's been trained since birth that the only way to get approval and affection is to hide who she is.
LITERALLY in my TOP 2 of the year (Prisoner of Beauty still reigns as number one for me, but WDBTD is a very close second.) MY GOD the chemistry and sensuality of every single scene.
All of this is also why she keeps lying to him, and why she's so afraid to be vulnerable and admit she loves him.
