How long has been I posted here? Still stuck at episode 20. I think if I were to give this one an honest try I'll have to try it from beginning, else I may not understand anything if I resumed from where I am stuck of months. Never thought it would happen to me for a show that I waited for so long before release.
note for myself- I will one day.

go with the flow much better 🤣 cause if like me, if i put high expectations to any drama , it's kinda disappointed…
Totally agree. I would rather let a show surprise me than feeling disappointed because of my own expectations. Let's see how this one goes.

what do we have here?? I just visited to reply to a comment on another show (I am struggling to resume) and found this. After an impressive experience with Blood River, should I keep my expectations high or just go with the flow. Guess 'Go with the Flow' makes the watch better, BR was quite a surprise :)

I agree with you. I wish it didn't need me to be patient. Calling myself a fan of LXY will be disservice to his actual fans. I loved him in TTEOTM and LIS, and had been waiting for WoF since forever. But every time I try I end up delaying it. But I will complete it ONE day :)

The numerous layers of clothing may be due to filming during the winter season. They had external as well as indoor…
TTEOTM was my first in terms of lavish costumes especially for male actors. Before TTEOTM only Chineses shows that I had seen were The Untamed and Word of Honor, so its not hard to imagine the awe I was in when I saw TTEOTM costumes. I was like what???
As far as WoH costumes are concerned they have amazing ones too. They definitely deserve to be showcased to the audience.
When TLC is seen roaming around or not fighting, costumes do make him look like the rich lord that he is.
My only complaints is with the compatibility of these costumes with action scenes. They end up looking a bit impractical. And the show has frequent and long fight scenes so it becomes more evident. Costumes here don't move with the body movements naturally, they have to be moved with efforts, because they have used heavier fabrics. So thats the complaint here.
Otherwise most of the costumes look great except Gui Mudan.

In the novel, the character is nearly blind and wears thick glasses to read. Even though he is blind, he has an…
Ohhh so that means he doesn't have 100% vision impairment. This sort of explains the kind of blankness that I mentioned I keep seeing in his eyes even when the blindfold is gone.
Makes more sense now. Great job done by the actor.
Thanks for the explanation, appreciate it!

Reference- Bilou Arc (question at the end)
I recently got introduced to Chang Hua Sen in Blood River. Never knew this actor but all the blame goes on my limited knowledge and experience with C Dramas. I loved him as Su Chang He.
I was more than surprised when he made an appearance in WoF. His character is so different in WoF and he did a good job. Though I still prefer SCH from BR over his role here in WoF, the character is pretty interesting.
He was introduced as a blind person, wearing a blind fold. But soon the fold was gone. However, to the actor's credit his eyes left confused if he is blind for real, which I don't think he is. Is he? There is some sort of blankness in his eyes. I think my attention was mostly on his eyes anytime he appeared on screen.
So here comes the question. I am not aware of the original text, so is there a reason behind him pretending blind? And why did he stop doing so? I mean is there a reason that I am not able to understand?
Thanks

I was unsure of what MLC is. Then I checked profile of actor playing SLH and I think its Mysterious Lotus Casebook right? I will give this one a try.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Yeah, everyone has been commenting on that. I think it’s meant to be an artistic simulation rather than actually…
If it was an artistic decision then I have to say its one of the worst decisions because there is nothing artistic about it.
I would prefer a mismatch in music and lips movement over no movements at all. I wonder who took that decision.
We can all guess, thanks for sharing.

The numerous layers of clothing may be due to filming during the winter season. They had external as well as indoor…
I dont know about winter. Because other characters are also shot in the same climate. His styling is actually ethereal but I find it restrictive during action scenes. Otherwise costumes work really well.
Also I also liked the dance sequence because it is supposed to be a dance in that moment.
But most of the fight scenes end up looking like dance performance too that where I feel costumes contribute too. Because they look too heavy, because many a times TLC does look entangled. I am curious if anyone knows average weight of his costumes, kudos to LYX. TTOETM was my first ever introduction to men wearing such amazing costumes and look other worldly.
Only if they had kept the layers but used lighter weight for fight scenes at least. Why I think white costume of TLCs yin yang look works for me beautifully is because they have added cuffs. That allows to see what hand movements are doing. Which makes it look refined.
I loved TTEOTM too and still do. I thought WoF would surpass but I don't think TTEOTM is ready to leave its spot anytime soon :)

I am liking Shen Lang Hun as a character a lot. The way he is written so far (I am on episode 20) and over all look that team has curated for him. Tan Tai Minglang did get a great makeover. I was not sure after watching him in TTEOTM I would like him ever. But kudos to the actor he made me resent TTM and now I like SHL.
PS- Bilou Palace not only gave SHL a change of clothes but they gave the man hair straightening too. Though I personally love his curly/wavy hair look more. Adds a bit of a drama to this usually quiet character. Who stays quiet for most of the time unless his intervention is really needed.
I do hope he stays a positive character till the end. And they don't show any fall out between this trio.

I have a question-
I don't see TLC making any lip movements while playing his flute. Is there a reason behind it, like something mentioned in the original novel? Because I may not know a lot about LYX but I think he is someone who cares about detailing. So why?
Thanks

Don't remember the exact time, but may be a month back had to keep this show on pause after watching 14 episodes, because- one I was watching another show, two the episode schedule for WoH was a mess, on account of the fact that I found it to be a slower side as far as plot progression was concerned. So decided to resume it after all the episodes were released so it can be binged watched.
I have now watched it till episode 20.
I am probably the only one, but I love LYX's styling in the show and at the same time I also feel it could have been a little different for TLC. I mean the actor and the character looks amazingly good in most of his attires and styling (did not really like his hair during the Bilou Palace arc) clearly show he is rich, infact super duper rich because there seem to be no end to the kind of connections TLC has. But I really hope they had lighten up the layers or used a slightly lighter weight of fabric, especially sleeves in the fight scenes.
I loved it in the beginning scenes but then in future fight scenes sleeves look heavy, restricting or not showing the things hands are doing. Many a times hands are barely visible and that for me reduced the impact of the action. It feels like TLC has been wrapped in super heavy layers and made to fight. I could not un see how sometimes I felt like, he is fishing through fabric to get his hands out. That could also be the reason that TLC in most of the fight scenes is turning around, flicking sleeves, more like dance moves than action moves (reminds me of the scene from TTEOTM where Ming Ye is teaching swords to Sang Jiu :)- the scene was adorable)
I love all that fluidity and flare but I personally feel it got repetitive a lot and styling could also be one of the possible reasons. I am just making a wild guess, but these little details were taking away from my experience of fight scenes, more because the show has long fight scenes and more often.
I remember TTJ's styling in TTEOTM and he begins from more than humble to lavish clothings but I did not find any of the characters (Tantai Jin / Cang Jiu Min / Ming Ye) struggle because of the clothing. The attire infact only added to the aura and charm of each of the characters.

PS- Love his white ying-yang look attire. With gold on his face. That makes him look like the majestic figure that TLC is.

Will be back with more on the show. Just wanted to get this thing out of my system.

10/10 but there are so many characters if you have watched other two series than you can watch this one without…
I watched it without watching the other two shows. Yes, there were times (not many) when I rewind to catch a new name or something that was a reference from the other two shows. But it wasn't confusing to understand BR story. They have shown back stories of characters from TBOY and it was easy to make sense of what was going on.

So true.. fell in love with these characters. By Episode 10 I knew there is no way out of it before episode 38. Such a good show it is.

Some people will be triggered by this comment. But the drama used too much flashback. Its lose the impact once…
Then I have a feeling my dislike for her character will probably continue when I resume the show. I have to agree the schedule is amazingly annoying.

Finished this 3 days ago. Rewatching it again from Ep 1 right now. Remember when people started to doubt this…
I was in it the very moment I saw the original patriarch flick his sword in the very beginning of the first episode itself. I mean he looked amazing though I had never seen the actor before.
The dark setting, loved it. And I got hooked to it like a crazy person in espisode 10, SMY scolding SCH for every time SCH messes up the most simplest of the assignments. When SMY asked SCH to be the patriarch and he chose to stay beside SCH over his own dream of living freely, though SCH had already made all arrangements so SMY could live a free life from that moment on.

Don't think so.
