I saw from a video(so not 100% sure if this is true) that apparently the younger brother of the ML is actually his son. He had him when he was 18yo with Fang Lei's sister. The reason the ML allowed the FL's deception is because he has secrets to hide too, and a true heiress wouldn't be that easily fooled and controlled. So the ML married the FL so he has a flawless image, her job is presentable, she is beautiful etc.
