Yes he is very self loathing and mainly because of his childhood and losing his parents, it was so sad when he asked Changyu why can't she love him, poor guy was so desperate for her love and affection 😢

I didn't get the feeling that Mei Si and Snake lord parted ways, the last scene when she kinda smiled at him gave me the sense that its a new beginning for them.
As for shang Jiang and huzhu I find it interesting that they didn't end up together (initially I only thought the only way they wouldn't be together is if one of them died). If you compare him to MZY, in the beginning he was someone who didn't take his role as a demon hunter seriously, he came off lazy and pretty much useless, yet at the end he seems to be more committed to his calling as a member of the sect, and love alone was not enough to convince him otherwise (the scene with him riding away I honestly thought he would turn around to find her lol) whereas MZY who took his training and cultivation much more seriously ended up leaving the sect for love. Nothing wrong with either choices but its interesting to draw that parallel.

I just finished the novel and it was such a cute and easy read but i'm kinda confused about the last chapter when MZY is a grandpa, it seems like WZ had passed away from old age already as they were offering her incense but then she's clearly alive as a cat as she visits and chats with MZY at night. So is she alive or not? Is he dreaming? Or she's alive but only in cat form? Sad to know that they didn't get to live out their lives together till the end 😢
