I have to say I’m not much of a historical/fantasy, people flying everywhere kind of drama watcher but this has me at a choke hold.
I appreciate the pacing of this storyline. For me there are no fillers episodes because this story feels normal, like everyday happening. Supporting characters don’t just disappear or become irrelevant. They all have a backstory, history of their life even briefly uttered in a sentence. Yu Sheng, Li Fei Bai, Gong ShuYang, Lv Sheng, Lu Chang Fu, Yuan Fang, Duke Hua and many others.
Even Consort Dowager’s hometown is from Lingan, a place Qin Cang came from tells you there is a connection.
Director and screenwriter don’t let us down. 🤲🏼

When Ah Li came down the mountain, she had a pigeon, 4 grass dolls and an imaginary confidant. Now at episode 17, she has “eliminated” 2 of the grass dolls. The happiness that she is currently experiencing with her husband is sweet because it seems the angst are coming

100% worthy of a watch. I saw a few edits and drama reviewer posts, decided to give it a try and the last few days had been glued to it. These kind of stories had been done to death and will continue because of the way the director narrates this drama. I truly trust the script and direction. She did deliver on one of my all time favorites, TMofPB and LnD.

Thank you for bringing this topic on MDL. I love a good romcom but sometimes it can be exhausting with many tropey stories. Finding underrated gems in slice of life dramas or films are difficult. Looking forward to this discussion section.
