In my opinion, I know Mandarin speakers have a harder time speaking Cantonese than vice versa. I have friends who went to Chinese school and when they are speaking to me in Cantonese their accent is very thick. They have a hard time pronouncing certain words. Hopefully you understand. It is not a dig at Xu Kai. Just happy that he uses it in a Chinese drama

Nothing wrong with his Cantonese. Mainland and Hong Kong Cantonese sound different. When he speaks you can hear his putonghua’s accent.
(By the way I speak Cantonese and can understand basic mandarin)
