I agree that his character is definitely complicated. I do think he is thrown into these complicated life challenges and hurdles that are not just his own but with the people that he loves around him as well. He is the epitome of a character riddance with anxiety. He’s had nothing but challenges thrown his way when it comes to his life and love. I think the reason why some people may judge his acting is the amounts of sighs that he does. That’s the only thing that bothers me, which are the excessive sighs. otherwise I do think earth is a good actor for this role. He has a very calm demeanor and old school look about him, which makes sense for this character.
Jim doesn’t get any breaks. He literally has no time to catch his breath as he goes from one problem to the other. He took on the responsibilities and burdens from others that have been unjustly placed on him. These are the reasons why I may be in the minority who believe that Jim, and Wen are not endgame.

Definitely agreed. Jim deserves a lot of respect from Li Ming. I know Li Ming will regret his behaviors when he’s older and wiser but at his young age right now, I don’t think he’s able to see his uncle’s perspective and sacrifices.
