Ji Chong is so fun to watch. He brings such a breath of fresh air to the over-the-top angsty show.

I agree with you. Bo Wang went way too far with it. I was somewhat surprised Zhai Xing didn't just straight up commit suicide from what Bo Wang put her through.

Bo Wang's outfits were so bad. They did Darren so dirty in this show.

Not really. In real life, he'd be in jail for what he did to Zhai Xing.

Oh, have you not gotten to the part where Bo Wang and Zhai Xing separate yet? Whoops, I might have spoiled it a bit for you. You'll see what I mean when the main misunderstanding from the Ma family massacre hatches between them.

And yeah, Zhai Xing trusted Bo Wang a bit too quickly, but that's pretty much par for course for the course for her character. She's supposed to be very naive, and that constantly gets her in trouble throughout the show. She was also fascinated with Bo Wang because of his resemblance to Lang Zhai, so it's pretty understandable she'd trust him a bit more than she should.

I don't blame Zhai Xing for believing him when literally everyone involved confirmed that Bo Wang was guilty. She doesn't find out the truth until around 5 episodes before the end.

It's not up to interpretation. Like I said before, Zhai Xing literally monologues about how she believes exactly Bo Wang has been telling her. Guess you think she's lying to herself while reflecting?

Zhai Xing literally monologues about how she can't read Bo Wang and thinks he hates her. I don't know how else to convince you that you're just seeing what you want to see.

I understand you might see it differently but that's not what the director is trying to present. Zhai Xing frequently monologues about how she fully believes Bo Wang when he lies to her. The dialogue is there for a reason.

This becomes even more evident later in the drama when even Ji Chong sees right through Bo Wang's deception. But Zhai Xing never once questions his lies.

He can't push her away. Zhai Xing told him she can't leave the marriage because of her obligation to the Ma Army. Bo Wang knows this but nevertheless continues insisting on making her life hell.

Neither of them should've lied. Wish they both could've just been healthy partners who were honest with each other and willing to face problems together. Would've prevented a lot of unnecessary angst.

It's clear to the audience that Bo Wang never actually means it when he turns his cold shoulder, but it's just as obvious that Zhai Xing doesn't pick up on what the audience knows. She's complained several times to people at her side about how she can never read Bo Wang. Not to mention, every time Bo Wang lies to her "for her own good", Zhai Xing rationales to the audience why he must've lost his feelings for her. It's not until literally the last 5 episodes of the drama when she starts seeing through his deception.

He's trying to manipulate her into leaving him, not toughening her up. Which is dumb because she told him clearly that she literally cannot leave their marriage.

The latter. Guess you could say his motive is to consolidate power and conquer the world, but it's a bit tough to do that as such an incompetent king.

She actually doesn't. The drama confirmed multiple times that Zhai Xing has no idea what Bo Wang's intentions are. He's unreadable.

If she had any semblance of a backbone, she would've dumped Bo Wang right there for what he did to her

Somewhat? You can see the sad ending coming from like 3 episodes away so it's not like an abrupt punch to the gut. It's a pretty conclusive ending that wraps everything up.

Better get used to it! This drama plays out misunderstandings for a good 40 episodes
