It may be out of the topic but I just wanted to say I think SK is already dominating the BL genre with only "Where…
I don't want to agree with you as much as I do, but I really do agree. lol Even though I've seen so much Thai BL and have definitely enjoyed quite a few (even after SOTUS which I didn't really start to enjoy until the second half of the second season), none of them can really hold a candle to Korean BL in any category: writing, acting, production quality, chemistry, etc. I think where they MIGHT be somewhat equal is plot. Neither country has terribly unique or unpredictable plots in a lot of their BLs, but Korea excels in everything else, so it makes up for it. I'd probably put Japanese BL before Taiwanese though just because I like Japan's dark, slow-burn style.
"Tell us that when your actor doesn't have a paralytic face that hangs on for the entirety of the show. Win is no exception either, being a rookie doesn't exempt him from criticism. Him "supposedly" acting better than Bright is not something that's redeeming"
I've only seen ep 3 and 5 ones since those are the only dramas of these I've seen, but I liked both of them. Ep 3 brings a refinement to the story of Tee and Mork (acting wise) that we knew they had the potential of during the series, but didn't get realized.
Ep 5 was just the cherry on top of the cake. The perfect end to the SOTUS Saga. It was Kongpop and Arthit living their very best lives and Krist and Singto did so well.
The contrast difference in the comments from when this series was airing to now is just like ...wow! I"m glad…
Right? I'm glad I didn't read the comments before. I also feel like a lot of the people watching were looking for more easily digestible, typical BL content, but this series played out more like a soap opera than a normal BL, so that could have put them off.
". This is not about being gay, societal issues connected to it, or even catering to fangirls. (Ok, a little bit, then.) This is something a little bit different. All of us BL-crazed, know that most stories in the genre are angsty, sad and usually ends tragically - after we've cried our eyes out over the forbidden love. In Love Sick - it's not angsty, not very sad at all, no forbidden love and the whole athmosphere is a positive and happy one. This isn't a story about two gay guys in love, it's just a story about two teens who fall in love. The gender is not all that important in this case, the air is accepting and happy-go-lucky and it's SO refreshing. I love that the focus is not all that much about the two lovebirds both being guys, but rather that the trouble around them is created from other obstacles, which are universal and not related to gender nor sexuality."
This part of the review is so interesting because now, in 2020 you can clearly see how much BL has grown and expanded. Most all BLs nowadays aren't too angsty with tragic endings and the fact that their both guys is usually not the source of conflict at all.
Is this worth the watch? I started watching Thai BLs from 2015 and beyond. Make It Right was my first and when I go back and watch that one, it kinda makes me wanna cringe at some parts. From the clips I've seen of this one, I'm getting the same vibes, but I also know that this series is really iconic for a lot of BL fans (like myself), so I'm not sure. I'm also not a fan of White, but that doesn't make too much of a difference, I think.
I liked this show. As usual, I don't like how 'the girlfriend' gets treated, but this series has so many other things going for it, mainly the actors. They're all great. From lead to supporting. They're naturals. It kinda lost me between episodes 4 and 8, but from episode 9 it picks back up and finishes strong.
I skipped basically all of the scenes involving Pan, Wan, and Fah unless those scenes also included the other characters too because I just wasn't interested in their part of the story at all, honestly. However, Min's acting was great, so I sat through quite a bit of the scenes with him and Wan.
I really ended up liking this one more than I expected.
I'm not far into this show, but I must say: visually, Earth and New are probably my among my top my favorite couples. I love the contrast in their looks and how they mesh together.
The story has very noticeable holes, the production quality is sloppy and the acting gets choppy (but to be fair, a lot of the actors are new here). Nevertheless, the chemistry for both the lead and the side couple is there. I didn't even rate it very high, but somehow this series held my interest and I actually don't regret watching it. I think the chemistry between the couples is what really keeps this one afloat for those of us who actually appreciated it. If you decide to watch, focus on that and the other stuff really won't seem as bad.
I said it before and I'll say it again, BLs always age badly in general on MDL. Unless there's something really…
Yeah, MDL is pretty fierce and I definitely see how problematic TT was too, but even on other forums (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), I see people drooling over TT, but I don't see any praise of 2gether without it being followed by some hate. You made a good point though before about it being hated now and redeemed later. From the comments on MDL, I kinda got the feeling that UWMA let a lot of people down when it first ended, but I personally really liked it.
Chinese fans....were the reason 2gether was a success. That's what you actually meant by 'international success' even though you don't realize it. Maybe it's because you don't speak Chinese that you haven't seen/read the full length of praise the show received in China.
Also, you're a lunatic. lol But I just wanted to correct that part about Chinese fans.
just because I like Japan's dark, slow-burn style.
Burn, but yes. haha

I screamed. lmfao
