"Drunken words {actions} are sober thoughts" is the logic in most Thai BLs
In Thailand, as well as China, Japan, and South Korea (that I personally know of), it casts one (not really 'one', only males usually) in a good/dedicated light to drink as much as one can with their superiors before returning home.
This isn't as formulaic, per se, as it is societal. Yes, many Thai BLs spin this aspect (very crassly so) into the plot, but it's not so far removed from reality even jokingly suspect that "no Thai BL writer has ever been drunk". It's kinda like how western romances make it to seem (very lazily so imo) like the first meeting between one's love interest and themselves involves *literally* running into them and dropping something. It doesn't happen very often, but the capacity for it to happen is real. In the case of western dramas, it's redundant and tired, but the look the couple gives to each other as they simultaneously pick up the fallen object (when done right) makes us gush sells the same thing Thai BL dramas do, but in a different way.

ew wtf I'm rewatching this and I don't remember them being step-siblings. am the only one that's turned off by…
Them being step-siblings gets overlooked because it's revealed after they've been with each other. Then by the time it is revealed, there are other issues going on in the show that don't allow it to be addressed 100%. Possibly would have happened in the second season, but alas...

I just got to know this drama from China, I think Taiwan. That's why there is something strange at the end of…
China has some BLs from around the time this one was filmed. They are: Like Love, Counterattack, and later, Advance Bravely. When it comes to BL nowadays, China is best known for adapting novels that feature two male leads as lovers and turning them into best friends/soulmates also called "bromance" or just bromance dramas in general but even in film, the implications are clear that they're more than that. Examples of this are Love is More Than a Word, Till Death Tear Us Apart, Men With Sword, The Untamed (one of the highest rated BLs that isn't even technically a BL), Winter Begonia, and Silent Criminal, These are all beautiful dramas that show love between males in varying degrees, but sexually, no. As I said though, it's heavily implied.

The only complaint I would have about this is waiting week to week to watch it. Because I didn't have to do that, I can honestly say I don't have anything truly negative to say about the series. For the budget and the experience of the actors, they delivered. It also really helps that Jeff is actually a musician and Gameplay is actually a chef. I think this allows them to bring a lot more sincerity and reality to the roles they played. The sound (mics sounding weird, sudden cut of music etc.) at some points was a little strange, but nothing too distracting.

This series is very slice of life for the first half, but gets more emotional later. Nothing too heavy or dramatic, just a nice, healthy relationship with good music, good humor and good food. ^_^

I'm always down for historical fantasy, so I may be a little bit biased. I love that the story is based on classic Japanese legends and cosmology. It moves pretty quickly and you get a little bit of everything. Action, love, drama, and a lot of magic. I just they could have explored the bromance aspect a little more. The tender moments between Hirosama and Semei when they express their feelings to each other were very sweet.

So...not going to lie one of the most bizarre, out there plots I've seen in awhile (that have still kept me intrigued…
I enjoyed this theory and I also think endgame may be Thanu/Wayu. But you know what? A part of me just wants outright anarchy. I want Thanu/Wayu to get together, but Sandee continuing to sabotage it and keep that shadow of doubt in Wayu's mind. I want Pha to pretend to start to hit on Phai to make Wayu jealous and have Phai go along with it to make Thanu jealous, but then Phai slips and ends up catching feelings for Pha for real so gets just as obsessive about Pha as Wayu used to be (read: is) which really drives him crazy because he can't handle losing two men to someone who's supposed to be his mentor/guide. Sandee, the crafty devil that he is, would catch on to this and work to try and get Thanu expelled again somehow...maybe by prompting a physical altercation between Thanu and Pha? Sandee tries to slip in and care for Phai to finally get him, but it doesn't work, he's off the deep-end. I don't know. Maybe it's the way it ended, maybe I'm having flashbacks of TWM: The Next Chapter, but after this fluffy season, I'm down for a total shit show in season 2 idec. lmao

-I really like the opening and closing songs of this series.
-For the series itself, I generally liked it. It ticked off all the boxes I wanted it to, but the way it moved away from Mark/Kit's story to everyone else's made it seem too lop-sided.
-The build-up of Mark/Kit's relationship, their flirting, their conflicts, everything was just great to me.
-They shouldn't have revisited Thanu and Padbook's conflict so much if we weren't ever going to make any real progress there.
-All Jew, Sab, Klui, Jack, Koh, Yuki, and Kalae did was take up time and space. Seven characters' worth of extra time and space. lol The only reason I'm not completely unsatisfied with this aspect is because I find three of them to be physically attractive.
-I'm not so unhappy about the Thanu/Wayu/Phai/Pha/Sandee(?) conflict that's supposed to be continued in season 2. I think it could be interesting, BUT I don't know how confident I am about Bas' acting skills. My biggest hope for season 2 is that it will give even focus to Wayu and whichever other couples there will be...which should consist of Mark/Kit for the most part tbh.

Interesting. Wonder if it exists in this way in other languages.

Ok. I get it now. Aside from knowing that it was an American holiday, I didn't know anything else about it. Also, just googled the movie. Seems like it's a little old. lol Surprised it's still a popular saying.

There would have been a whole round of other complaints were the actor changed too, really, especially here. If MDL commenters can complain and have a gripe with anything, they will. lol Leaving Pha's "messages" there without Pha himself would probably have been the bes course of action.
