It is considered the first xianxia (I don't agree with that) but yes, ut's a xianxia since it's based on a high fantasy (dungeons and dragons type) video game.

The most recent wuxias are Journey to Love The Blood of Youth Mysterious Lotus Casebook
For more epic wuxias with lots of sect fightings and hero learning different kungfu styles to fight different sects, just look for the umpteenth versions of The Legend of the Condor Heroes Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre Any adaptation of Jin Yong's novels
I grew up watching the epic wuxias and loved all the versions that I saw. Jin Yong is the father of wuxia in the alternate universe of jiangwu. I loved the Chinese "hero's journey" themes but grew tired of the never-totally-happy endings and have since moved away from watching many of them.
Ok so I stopped watching cdramas in 2018 and even at that time I never watched any historical drama. But I heard…
Wuxia is, in Western terms, a hero journey with martial arts. In wuxia, there is a fictional land/world where all the martial experts live. Think of King Arthur and his Knights of the Roundtable--they are fictional in a fictionalized medieval world. The hero's journey is often a quest--revenge, honor, a mission to save the world, that sort of higher goal. Wuxias, in the old days, never ended pretty.
Xianxia is high fantasy, of multiple realms fighting for control. Think of it as Dungeons and Dragons, but with Chinese stuff, LOL. You're good, you level up, gaining power. You're bad, usually you get defeated, with all your powers stripped.
Joking aside, there is a mixture of Taoism (reincarnation themes) and Chinese supernatural beliefs, such as good vs evil, Chinese style (vs Christian version, LOL), cultivation and separation based on levels of powers (it's a very orderly heaven and hell!). Xianxia is about immortals trying to be better than mere mortals, but they are often not (which makes it kind of humorous for me) and because they are not, these stories often involved the ML and FL having to reincarnate a few times to get to the point where they are equals (or when their blood debts are paid to some heavenly-appointed .supercourt). The funniest element is the rule that, in order to regain their status or improve their cultivation, these immortals must reincarnate as mortals to go through literally fire and death before they level up (like a video game).

LLTG is what I call a composite historical--it's fictional but the background is factual and background characters are based on factual historical figures. The emperor and his wives were real, with slight changes in names--the story of the Concubine Yue, first wife who should be empress but was the concubine instead was also true. There was a famous love poem the emperor wrote about his love for his "first" wife.
Same writer just poor execution. And TSJ dying was great, to bad he didn't stay dead.
LMAO I did not think of salted fish! Now I cannot un-think that of TSJ being (again) unconscious. It's appropriate, though, as there is that Cantonese saying, Ham yu fan sang, which is exactly what TSJ is good at!

lol Someone today mocked Xiang Liuâs in death as a pervert for kissing XYâs hand while she was unconscious. XL shouldnât have saved such a useless user.
Why not just try the first 15 minutes and see whether you like it? Itâs very easy to just stop. I donât know what you like, so cannot recommend or not recommend. It is a revenge drama, and the revenge is delicious. If you like that kind of story, this one is for you. This isnât an idol drama. So if youâre looking for the typical idol drama, this one isnât for you.
XL's obsession with committing suicide with the army through ALL of the drama started to really get on my nerves…
I didnât want him with XY but since he loved her, I wanted to give him XY. đ Does that make sense. In my perfect world, I wanted him saved by a stupid woman named SuSu, get kissed everyday until he submitted, and then found out she was the Great Fox Queen Bai Jue, ruler of all TuShan foxes. Hilarity ensued at a family dinner when TSJ arrived with his wife to kowtow and respect to his new king. đ€Ł
I wanted her to be more cruel. Wanning is not only evil but one of those people who use their previous bad experiences…
But I also believe he also fell into temptation after a taste of his newfound status. The drama had someone mentioned how badly he was treated when he was first promotedâno one attended his party. He is now regarded highly because SOMEONE decreed it so. SYR, as he gained status, liked what he be came. That was also partly why again and again, he denied JL was XFF in publicâif he did, the loss of reputation would have been massive. Much later, as he stood contemplating his woes, he noticed the spider and he mused, âEven a spider knows to climb higher. Why is it wrong that I did the same?â He admitted his greed for status here. The next scene of his had him painting a spider made it clearer: he was the spider and was spinning this web of (self) deceit.
Iâve cut and pasted part of my SYR essay here lol. Sorry, couldnât resist!

Do you do contemporary dramas? Or just historicals?
