why does she always say he killed him? He obviously didn't and that's why she's alive.
Because there was no Xue Fang Fei any more. The old her is gone. He let her get raped and tarnished and in society, she was shamed as a woman without virtue. Hence her coming back as Jiang Li--the revenge was to clear her family and her name.
People, don't look for love in everything, it's just a publicity trick for them, that's what he was supposed to…
It’s OK. We are all very reasonable here 🤣. We just like to watch their “show” like Duke Su enjoyed his XFF. We are really not as bad as that guy that came in and called us “old Frustrated grandma virgins, “ ha ha ha
XFF: After watching one of my shows, you'd always ask me to come over....and with your sophisticated words, you always put me in your debt while you sit (all high and mighty) in the teahouse, not showing your cards. And now (XFF offers her tea mockingly), are you really here to watch the show (she is obviously referring to catching him at the brothel and that he was doing MORE than watching a show. XFF is jealous, heh heh)?
XH (now no longer teasing): Are you now angry with me?
XFF: Can't I?
XF: Then your scolding is so sweet (or is music) to my ears. (going with the whole play thing)
XFF: You-- (speechless at his saying he approved of her jealousy)
XF: Conducting an investigation is always better from an elevated place.
XFF: What kind of elevated place is a brothel?
MIKE DROP! Bwahahaha. The real topic of the argument is out in the open.
XF: (looking uncomfortable) Can't you let me win once?
XFF smiled. She knew how to handle Duke Su all right. (I chuckled so hard when I first saw this scene. I bet Su Guo Gong had never met a woman who kept getting the last word)
Then, when she was about to leave, our puppy boy gave an explanation about Wu Lan and XFF accepted it with a "OK, noted." And left him all puzzled, still unsure whether he was back in her good graces, bwahaha.
The romance here was subtle and minimal and for a political revenge themed drama it was appropriate and not overdone…
It's not as subtle as everyone thinks. Their dialogue was boldly full of innuendoes and wordplay. If you scroll up and look at the Other Discussion topics, check out the Couple Scenes topic where we have been keeping track of all the sexy and romantic puns/innuendoes in their conversations.
The battle scenes are underwhelming (same problem with most kdrama sagueks) and actually detracts from the overall…
I sometimes think they ran out of money and thus the battle scenes in latter stages are not as grand and the editing is subpar. Case in point: Who Rules The World. The battle scenes were tremendous and then, at the end, they were a mere shadow of themselves. I read there were budget problems and also the director had a quarrel with her co-director and the latter took his team/crew/money and walked off the set. The quarrel was salacious too, haha.
I felt the same about Fl... I'm starting to watch the story of yanxi palace, but 70 episodes scare me😂 I dropped…
It is a big commitment. It doesn't truly get interesting for me until the first Empress' death, though, but of course, if you skip all that, you're going to miss her first love, Fu Heng's and her short romance. Maybe you can watch it at a faster speed, heh.
