They do look closer to 15. We have been having discussions about ages (look up in Other Discussion threads). We sort of concluded that the younger sis is 15 (the rite of passage banquet). Mrs Liu said JL wasn't quite 20 in that episode (so she's at most 19). XFF is married and we know she's older because JL called her jeje. She supported her husband for years, long enough not to know about the discovery of a gold mine in her father's district, so give or take, she was between 20-23. I know those who read the novel said the author was all over the place with the ages, so the above is just readers like me having a bit of odd fun.

It's high directorial art (tongue-in-cheek). Seriously, I get what the director was trying to convey her talent(s). Being a Cai Nue, she had to be better than any other woman, especially her rival at that moment, who was already given the ability to convey scenery through her music (HAHA). So, when it was JL/XFF's turn, it had to be beyond that! Throughout the drama, being a cai nue, her writing/calligraphy, her eloquence, ability to run things (math/science), her embroidery, music, her understanding of literature, everything except for kungfu (LOL but even then, you will see she dodges exceptionally well and her stone throwing is beyond compare, LOLOLOL) has to be above all women, except perhaps, another cai nue, which alas, one doesn't see many of.

Right? Seeing all the callbacks was fun. I am a dialogue and callback fiend, so when I adore a drama, I rewatch constantly and I'm never bored because I always see how what the director did here or there or where the dialogue had been added for significance. Fourth time (and also repeated watches of favorite episodes) and I'm still writing stupid articles about the drama LOL. Just waiting for another drama to come to take me away....

I don't know whether XH is a virgin, but definitely he wasn't as experienced. So, in the previous scene, on the bed, he asked XFF what she was doing and she said she was preparing to teach for tomorrow's class. He said, What about me? What are you going to teach me? He gave her a meaningful look and when she just looked at him, he flopped onto the bed, his back turned. Such a horny boy. XFF blew out that damn candle. THEN, the next scene, we hear a conversation. From my memory, so not verbatim:
"Teach me this move," he said.
"You know this move," she replied.
"But when you do it, it's different."
Then the camera showed them playing chess. HAHA
After that, the presents were a wink to the viewers. XH asked, what are the gifts? XFF said, This one is for lining your eyes (we have been obsessed with his eyeliner). This one is some makeup to make me younger/keep me young (the age difference yak yak). This one is for jealousy. AND this one...(she gazed meaningfully at it and the bottle looked like the second episode when she got the aphrodisiac from her maid)." XH gave out hummph and said, "We don't need that at all!" And huffed out.

There you go--all the sexual innuendo you need!

I never know what is true or not these days, video-wise, whether that's really a real shoot or an AI-generated one. I will only take what is given me in the drama presented as a whole, unless they reedit the episode as their version.
