Yesterday I wrote that this drama is well made and I understand why people like it, but I think it's worth specifying…
My rule for myself, is to wait until the end of the 3rd episode for any drama before commenting or deciding whether to drop it or continue watching it.
Honestly, I wasn't sold on this drama until after episode 2.
Yes, the youngest female character in the trio annoyed me lol. Not the actress, but the character. Which is the reason why I didn't even bother to mention her in my review lol.
Also the female lead ex-fiancé went about things the wrong way. He should have been truthful about not wanting her to be in danger, like the male lead did, instead of making her feel worthless and like their love was meaningless.
I'm finding Zhao Pan'er to be really refreshing. I like how they don't detract her from her femininity in trying…
I actually wrote the same thing in my review of this drama. I hope that the rest of the drama will continue with this same flow (e.g. pace, character development, independent but vulnerable, etc.).
I dropped this drama during episode 22. I had high expectations, but the drama was disappointing. Check out my page to read my unbiased review for this drama.
This was your 1st article? It was so well-written and very informative! :) I love historical and period dramas…
Hello! Yes, this is my first article! Thank you for the compliment; I am glad that you enjoyed the article.
I have totally watched The Rise of Phoenixes and like you, I believe that the ending was perfect. I wrote a review about that drama, in which I wrote why I thought the end was perfect. I believe that it had to end that way, in order for the whole drama to make sense and to be realistic. It's unfortunate, that in most of these type of historical dramas, the female leads, always get the short end of the stick due to the patriarchal societies and misogyny.
I actually like it! I think she carries it off well. Spent most of the time thinking how gorgeous she looked with…
I like it too. I live in Korea and overall Koreans don't like short hair on women, they think it's masculine. I'm American, a woman and my hair is short.
Nevertheless, I can't provide a male's perspective.
Honestly, I wasn't sold on this drama until after episode 2.
I can't watch badly written, and produced dramas that hold no significant meaning.
Also the female lead ex-fiancé went about things the wrong way. He should have been truthful about not wanting her to be in danger, like the male lead did, instead of making her feel worthless and like their love was meaningless.
