I must say I was very confused by this scene. Also, it's still not clear to me if he actually likes her or is just using her to find out who he is and to get up the social ladder (as you say). We know from his childhood that he was a very intelligent child and that he used his wit to get to where he had gotten to before his accident. I wonder if his persona will change.

Of course, but sometimes some people are just too shy or can't express themselves properly. On occasion the SML was getting on my nerve acting like this terracotta army man (as you say). The more into the story the more gets clearer

Oh that's an interesting observation.
In a way the screenwriters indeed did a good job making his character so dubious that there are quite a few different explanations or maybe they are just trying to test the emotional intelligence of the viewership 🤣. Personally I found him struggling internally with himself not knowing how to act or whom to support in certain situations, either supporting the one he likes but simultaneously resenting her rich background or believing in the story's and accusations from his long term childhood sweetheart. As much as I pity him , the episodes when we find out more about the parents and their tragic love lifes, the more it becomes clear that marrying beyond ones status brings some challenges?

Aye I agree. He is just so pathetic on occasion and doesn't respond nor explain his actions. But on the other hand we can clearly see that he likes her and tries to help or defend her. I think the screenwriters did either a very good job in confusing the audience or a very bad job with his character presentation 😊

Yes, that was the disturbing part indeed. All he needed to do was to go and talk to her or at least responded or apologised. He definitely is not free of guilt. Yes, you can see that he is longing for her, but then, he also always thought he is not good enough for her. So why would he fight for something that he thought would be doomed from the beginning. I never read the book to be honest, such I don't know all the details, but I'm sure that at one point we will find out more.

It's a very nice drama and will be happy if ML and FL finally get together, but I also feel sorry for the SML. His deep longing and devotion to her could never clearly bloom nor develop, just because of outside influences caused by other jealous people 😢

Aye. You totally hit the point. This is what disturbed me on his character. He just never said anything to clear up anything. I'm now further advanced in the drama and know now the lies that Ring told. 😡. Still, he could have at least replied to her ore talked to her. On occasion she was overthinking things too. Both are not free of their actions. They never talked to each other properly, but also think this Ring girl played a big part in the whole misunderstanding. I actually feel very sorry for the SML.

I think she has a guest role.

Yeah Jiang is so refreshing. He is very easy going, cares about someone deeply and just gives someone the best positive vibes possible.

Maybe ignoring is the wrong word, but if you are invited to have food with someone, you wouldn't just go off and read a book outside, whilst the person inside is waiting for the food to come? She could have just gently denied the invite? Pushover or not, what would you have done?

I'm only on episode 3, but on occasion I find FL attitude quite annoying. Just ignoring someone who tries to be nice, it's not really the right attitude. She also tends to overthink quite a bit. But maybe, I'm missing a huge junk of the story (besides when she confessed her love).
