Title Anpan
Well the pacing is slow and you might find it boring. But there are a few emotional scenes which are well written…
I'm Team Mio so I'll give it a chance. Just hope the growing up arc doesn't last long...

BTW what's with the opening titles? An image of a modern Imada Mio, looking gorgeous and all... Doesn't look like early Showa to me!

This premieres on NGN next week. I'm not a fan of wartime angst -- worth the time?

Noteworthy in that it has Meguro and Arimura having a way more passionate relationship than anything in UMI NO HAJIMARI.

The varying flashbacks were kinda all over the place and humbug to follow. I'm also not sure how we're supposed to feel about the Oizumi character at movie's end -- somebody put him on suicide watch, stat!

Title Where Does the Sea Begin Spoiler
Okay for real, it was a messed up plot, especially from the FL's side. Like the entire side of Mizuki blamed Natsu…
It was truly a wrap when Umi herself began to pile on Natsu, just like the rest of her family and friends. Natsu never got the salvation he earned by series end, just extended abuse and bile. This is like OSHIN-level of cruelty. That's not art, that's sadism.

What a slough this drama was. I'm glad it's all over with.

Title Where Does the Sea Begin Spoiler
So, I just watched Episode 03. Mizuki's Mother who gave birth at the Age of 42 is asking an unmarried young Woman,…
This has been how these people in Mizuki's world have been acting since Episode One, with a unreal belligerence that all the truly innocents (Yayoi, Natsu) just absorb without punching back. The asshole library dude needs to speak with a therapist instead of venting all his grief onto Natsu.

I just completed Episode 11 tonight on NGN TV and am just relieved that this drama will be over soon and well, UNMET premieres in its timeslot in a couple weeks...

NGN is scheduled to begin the series in mid-July. I haven’t watched an Asadora since MAI AGARE and still not sure if I’m in the mental shape for another one. I might give this one a shot based on all of the advance praise. Fingers crossed!

Episode One just aired on NGN on Monday. I am... cautiously optimistic: Maybe 60-40. Kawai Yumi just *shines* in every scene and I'm partial to Naka Riisa & Yoshida Yoh. But the izakaya song-and-dance routine should have been cut by at least 50 percent, preferably 75. (I must brace myself for future filler sequences in upcoming episodes.) And I fear Jigoku Papa blustering all about (but curiously fearless with a touchscreen) is taking us to a "good people on both sides" conclusion.

Looking forward to a good Chiyonofuji retrospective...
