If the brother-in-law is guilty of embezzlement, wouldn't the FL's family also be executed because of the family…
So, with Qing He, was it her father who was the offender? If so, I can see the father’s wife, kids, their spouses, children and servants getting punished. With A’Juan’s father’s brother-in-law, wouldn’t it be the brother-in-law’s family that gets punished? Meaning his wife, children, servants, etc? I see it as the family head and his dependents getting punished together especially if they live under one roof.
‘The joy of life’ great acting and storyline. It’s more comedy but intelligent comedy.
Really? I was majorly misled. It must be those posts were mixing the novel and the show. They even said that the girl who could not marry (the ruler or something) ended up with another girl who became pregnant by the male lead and the two women raised the child together. It was clear that this part wasn’t in the drama because they spoke of it as the future but they were basically saying there is more to the relationship between the male lead and the two women.

It isn’t? I read in the forum discussion on Soompi by those who saw it that after he leaves his fiancée and travels outside he meets two or three other girls whom he likes. Little romance is fine with me but harem is something I find unrealistic except in palace drama shows since kings did in fact had harems.
After first 6 episodes this drama not only got so weird but starts to mess with your brain, definitely not in…
I completely agree. The writer should have kept the time travel aspect simple. In my opinion the show lost its way around the same time that you pointed out. It’s sad really because I really enjoyed the first couple episodes.
Let's discuss after you watch all 50 eps. Unless you want spoilers, I can't tell you why the characters you find…
I’m currently on episode 15 and now I’m getting into it beginning with the scene where Jiang Chen’s mother fight back against the the arrogant lady from the Wen clan who barged into Lotus Pier. The mother and her attendants plus that guy she fought from the Wen clan really galvanized my interest and it looks like things will pick up now. So thanks again for the insight.
Erm, no again. I am looking at traits of a villain rather than the villains themselves in my original post. For comparison I stated Nirvana in Fire because it’s also a Chinese drama. I can also say Stranger, Korean drama, had a compelling major villain in a different way that left me feeling ambivalent. I didn’t hate him like I did the other compelling villains in Nirvana in Fire.
In any case, I already chatted with others above in this thread and I fully intend to give this show a fair chance. I was very excited when I began it two days ago and reading the “reasonable” comments above from others has encouraged me to continue on.

Thanks for the explanation. I do admit I don’t like the zombie parts but I don’t mind it as long as the story is good or, as you rightly pointed out, if it’s to my taste. I watch all kinds of shows except I hate comedy and silliness so this show definitely suits my taste. :D
I feel that you are kind of expecting in the wrong direction. In the Untamed, villain is never just about one…
Erm, no. I don’t expect the villain to be one guy. It’s hardly ever the case in most well written shows I have watched. I expect even some of the pseudo good guys to betray the good guys with their own agenda. I’m just saying that up to where I reach so far I’m not impressed with the good and bad guys. I’m just assuming it gets better because the rating is so high so I expect something equally compelling with other shows that are rated this high.
Up to now I have never seen a Chinese show with more compelling villains. I remember watching the two major culprits behind the slaughter of the army and I was exceptionally impressed by their characters and acting. The emperor is also a well acted character. The cunning prince is another well done character. And of course, Mei Chang Su is the man. The cast, acting and story is, in my opinion, is the best of its genre. I will rewatch this again soon. It’s been a few years already since I first watched it.
I’m not ashamed to say I cried in my sleep for a few days after watching this.
I’m on episode 12 and I’m still waiting to be wowed because it has such a high score. The villains are so lame and comical. I expected meaty villains like in a show like Nirvana in Fire where I did indeed find the villains cunning and scary. The good guys in this seem lame too. I will assume that I just have to keep going and the characters and story gets better. I still can’t believe how lame the arrogant prince of the Nightless city is. Laughable and comical.
I'm just on episode 1 and loving it. I think I've lost it (or my IQ has dipped) because this is the 3rd or 4th…
I think this drama is more light-hearted than silly. Su Yu is definite silly. I dropped it. This drama, IMO, fits more with the light-hearted spirit of ancient school drama like “In a Class of Her Own” and maybe “Dance of the Sky Empire” with some serious sides to it politically. However, for me this drama is better than all of those drama shows I mentioned.
Absolutely in love with the OST. Kris Fan has an amazing voice~
He does. I was shocked to see that it’s him that sang the opening theme. I never saw him act before and I have never heard him sing before. His voice sounds kind of similar to Taiwanese singer Bii.
