Long Secret

First of all I would like to warn everyone that this series is one of those “hold the secret until almost the very end” type bombshell shows. If you are one that do not like long drawn out secrets you may want to steer clear of this one because that is absolutely what you get. The writers did have a way of adding more unknown secrets onto the secrets that most viewers were already aware of.

This is one of the first times that I was a bit conflicted about writing a review. First, I would like to point out that the beginning of story itself is really good however the progress and/or development is not ideal. The beginning of this series focused on just that, the beginning. It follows our main characters from childhood and it really shines a light into who they are and how they met and how their bond and relationships developed over time. I find that the beginning of the series was absolutely adorable because it really show the innocence of the characters as youth. It showed their energy and ultimately their temperament as well. What stood out to me about the beginning of the series was that the reveal of community families to include the significance on a child’s life experiences, security and growth. It was very hard moving and fun to watch.

Once the cast transitioned from childhood to adulthood things somewhat took a turn. The pacing stayed relatively the same. The actors changed, naturally as expected, but the warm and fuzzy we got from the youth experience disappears/disintegrates/burns. The show takes a complete 360° turn it. It went from warm and fuzzy to crazy, shock and regrets. That’s right I said regret. After watching 60 episodes it becomes really apparent that the warm and fuzzy may not return until the very end. Sadly that very end is 60 episodes away. I have honestly watch so many episodes of this series and at this point I feel like I just wanna see how it ends. I am no longer invested in the middle pieces although I do plan to watch them. I’m only watching to see how it ends at this point. If you’re a lover of smooth sailing shows like me, be warned. Although there is the mystery series drags it out a bit longer than I’d like.

To make matters worst, I waited 80 episodes for someone to just tell the truth about 1 thing. 1 THING!. The script is far out there. I can’t think of anyone on earth or in drama land that would actually allow themselves to be bullied and manipulated while knowing that they have the power to take down the bully or at least suppress them. On another note I can’t think of any bully that will continue bullying knowing that the other people have the power to destroy them. Things just didn’t make sense. Throughout the series, I continued to ask myself “why are they letting the evil people get away it?” And “why don’t they just tell the truth?”

These people held a secret for no apparent reason. No exaggeration! and they suffered needlessly.

To top it all off we have a Guardian who has add the blue develop feelings for the very elementary person that he took in and raised from such a young age. Let’s ignore the fact that he has an aged at all but the very thought of it seems quite uncomfortable. There is really no way to foil this. This guy was already an adult running a restaurant. He was most certainly not a teenager but probably in his 20s and she was a kid that looked about 8 years old.

Am I still watching? More like skimming. Why? I would like to see the father and daughter connect. What I recommend it? Nope. Would I rewatch it? Absolutely not.

I have never, ever, ever watched a series that is as twisted as this. The power is twisted, the parental relationships are twisted, the friendships are twisted and if I have to be completely honest the adults are now appearing twisted as well. Reason has left this series.

This is by far one of the worst dramas that I have ever watched. And I have watched a lot. First of all within this very very unusual drama you have a criminal who commits crime repeatedly and never get punished even though everyone knows that they were criminal. Everyone just casually pretends that nothing ever happened. Secondly we have an overly passive female lead who is suppose to be smart and strong but everything about her character reeks obliviousness, weakness and stupidity. Thirdly we have this weird out of the blue romantic interest of a child and guardian after years have passed. Not only was this awkward but it was also random and unsupported. Fourth, what shall I say we had that magic ending where we just assume that everyone lives happily ever after. No charges were pressed. We’re friends with the murderer of our parents. We marry people that we don’t really like and the end. This was just the strangest bunch of mess I’ve ever seen.
Titanic vibes, #CPR COULN’T SAVE THIS!

My brief synopsis of this series is as follows:. A good guy with a secret that could destroy the bad guy. Good guy holds the secret while being trampled by the bad guy. Bad guy knows that the good guy holds the secret that is crucial but still behaves wickedly. So ultimately what you’ll get while watching the series is the good guy having the power and ability to destroy the bad guy but instead of doing so they allow themselves to be bullied, lied on, controlled and manipulated for over half the series. At least up to 80.
It was like watching someone hold a weapon but standing still to get beat up. WHY???????

I’m not really sure what I just watched. I mean it was a series but I’m a bit confused. It was airy! There didn’t appear to be a plot. The synopsis is accurate but just no there is nothing more to it than that. Series is about young adults in the modeling industry, 2 models/actors, a photographer and a make up artist. It was okay but noting happened.

What you’ll get is a struggling actor trying to make it, a successful actor who is greatly supported. The series is unique in the sense that the 3 males all appear to be really good and loyal friends since childhood. Our female lead is new to the circle, kind of.

There was so cute moments but mostly tears from their struggles or peculiar family.

I can’t recommend this. I sort of feel like I just watch a long fashion ad without a chance to see full ad. This is not really romantic although the bond between the males is refreshing.

I loved it. Best series of year hands down!

The first thing I’m going to do is find out who the writer is and watch any other shows that he has written. This show is absolutely amazing. I have never watched anything like this that he has a vote such emotion. It literally had me crying and laughing at the same time. I don’t know who this person is that created it but they did it in such a way that the heartfelt moments are so touching and the cheerful moments are so natural and hilarious.

This show definitely encompasses healing, forgiveness, family, love, acceptance, friendship, trials, and finding your own path. just amazing. This is easily the best series of the year. For me this was not a hard thing to say at all. I watch so many dramas a day and during the week but I absolutely feel that this one is untouchable. It gives you an opportunity to learn from not only the older people but younger as well.

It absolutely embodies what loves really means.

Serious around two male siblings and a female. They have all been somewhat affected by an event in their past. This event ultimately has an impact on their life choices in the present as well as in the past. What you will get here is “the fight to move forward and overcome it all” and it’s beautiful.

There is no crazy ex-girlfriend. There’s no ridiculous love triangle. There is no stupid make up break up that last 40 eternity. There is no nonsense in this series. I absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a good Hartfield series to watch or a romantic series or a series I have some mystery and it may be a little bit of thrill. Either way this one will satisfy all those needs.

The story was great. The acting was perfect. The music was great. I’m even considering locating the song for my ringtone. The rewatch value is definitely a big plus because it has so many moments that I have already gone back to look at the part again, And this was while I was still watching the series. The ending was beautiful. It gave the feeling of a new beginning. Oh the possibilities. I was sad that it was over. Overall 10 for me.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started watching the series but the cover image seemed really good so I decided to give it a try. Well I can tell you that I don’t regret watching it but I was really expecting something more romantic or maybe a better place. The series starts off very up be and you really get a good vibe from me. I could tell that it was going to be good.
Long story short this is not and overly Sweet series. You will get lots of action and fight scenes here. You’ll get a little bit trail mix with that good or misunderstanding that leads to hatred and revenge. After around episode 15 I started to feel like I was watching a murder mystery “who done it.”
Although there were relations tied into, it just seemed more like a detective film with a hint o love, the action was good, the chemistry was so so, kiss scenes cringe worthy, plot unknown. The ending was okay.

If you’re looking for a upbeat historical film that involves solving mysteries with a hint of romance you may like this one but if you’re looking for a historical romance that is predominantly relational I would advise you to look someplace else.

Shame on me for not reading the synopsis before I started watching this series. No, no, no. I didn’t know we need to watch this. I am so not into sad shows of any kind. This was so cute and warm and so very sentimental but the last thing that I needed or wanted to watch was a show that will leave me bawling my eyes out. Call me a Cinderella girl if you will but I absolutely love my happily ever after‘s. I don’t care if there was a sweet message at the end or not. Hope was dashed ☹️?.

I honestly was not sure what to expect but I went ahead and decided to watch it. My initial reaction was that the series was very slow pace but you can honestly tell that the directors put a lot of thought into the composition of it as well as the storyline. I felt that the beginning of the series was somewhat confusing because they were showing clips of their past, then they were showing events that happened earlier or events that were going to happen before they happen. So for me that was a bit confusing. It mostly happened in the beginning of the series but by the middle to end of the series you’ll notice that the confusion somewhere kind of dies down a little bit. I think overall the series was very very heartfelt. It showed the effects of different things that happened in these individuals lives as they were growing up and how these things that happen in their past affected their present whether that’s relationships with their family or relationships in general. I think that for some people this is a mega tear jerker.

I somewhat prefer the ending of the series versus the beginning. In truth I was going to start watching it but I’m glad I kept going because it really showed how everything is not as it seemed but it also show true honest and raw emotions. There was no make-believe band is that made everything OK and we’re friends again things that took place in this. The people we have real feelings and they were genuine about it which is more closely related to how normal people will deal with rejection or betrayal. So I really enjoyed that about this I feel that it closely reflected human nature and feelings. No magic ones took place here. So if you’re into a slow pace, bit of a tearjerker and heartfelt drama with a little romance you may like this. Again this is really not an overly romantic series although you will get a little romance in here but this is more about past pain and healing.

I feel set up. My hopes were so high. I watched the story of Yanxi palace and absolutely loved it. So when I started watching this I was shocked. The quality was the same. Some of the cast were the same but the story itself was a big flop for me. This was 6 episodes and I was almost confused by the last two episodes. They did try to maintain the wits of the cast members. They were cunning and you had the opportunity to see Wei Lou’s teaching to her daughter, Although the writers didn’t give the viewers the opportunity to see her full wits. She used her wits but it wasn’t very evident. She literally had to tell the viewers what and how she did it, unlike the original story where you saw it and understood what was going on. I can only assume it was due to the short series.

I was honestly annoyed by episode one because of the princess behavior. It was supremely spoiled. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it either.

On another note, it was good to see Wei Lou and the emperor.

The first thing I want to tell anyone that is considering watching the movie this is not your typical and Liz love that you may have heard of or seen before. I must say I find it quite the opposite which is why I was somewhat disheartened while watching this. The series revolves around three main individuals who getting tangled in a web of politics and revenge without even knowing it. It does start off with a few individuals trying to uncover something but the theme stays consistent with revealing past events and making people pay for the crimes they committed. There was absolutely zero romance in this in this love and very little if any warm and fuzzy moments. I could not rate this higher than what I did because I hated how the events played out and ended. The writers or directors have this thing where they play soft love music when two characters come together to show some sort of feeling your budding romance however 80% of the series focused on the relationships of one individual and how she and the other individuals felt. Needless to say after watching 27 of 37 episodes I was somewhat done with the series altogether. There’s this thing that I’ve noticed more and more recently where someone is good to the person that they love and train support them and the person pushes them away. I watched countless episodes of someone being pushed away.

I will simply say I am disappointed because I had expected something different when watching it. I am also extremely disappointed because for so many episodes they showed the life, love and relationships of the female lead in the ending that they gave her although it was it awful it was just a gratifying for me. So if you were into mellow drama and romance or simply just a really good romance series I would really not recommend this. This series was 90% hardship and grief. I found myself watching this and thinking like the writers really overdid it with the obstacles that one character was facing. What really killed this for me was that they did an amazing job of showing the love, commitment and dreams of one of the male leads and even when it’s far as showing how much he cares Only to say nah, you be with this person. Complete let down.

I won’t lie. I watched up to episode 18 and then skipped a few, then watche to episode 42 and then went right to the ending. It was just too long and boring. There was action but it wasn’t good action, well at least I wasn’t impressed with the fight scenes. There was no big conflict, just plotting. SMH. Everything about this series screams outdated, the wardrobe, the way the cast speaks, the scenery, video quality. If I didn’t know the air date, I would have assumed this was filmed in the 80’s. At first, I honestly thought this was an old Kong fu movie. The actors are a little older and they speak in that sharp manly tone, the wardrobes seemed fine for some but others it’s weird. I saw a scenery that had a garden but it wasn’t grass. It was turf grass clearly overlapping. Most of the cast are 30+ so don’t expect some youthful romance. The intro music is an indication of the type of series you’re getting yourself into. If you like long slow burners you may like this. Be warned, this is not on the level of yanxi palace or legend of Dugu, this one here is not as entertaining. There was no chemistry between anyone, no romance, no major plot except for getting the throne or keeping it. No big surprises or surprise ending. Just your good old fashion c-drama that most have grown to hate.

Thought I would feel great but this was depressing.

Initially when I started watching it I found it entertaining and exciting with many aspects of sweetness to it. Our two main leads were very hard-working, loyal and sweet. Unfortunately that changed. Let me be clear my rating rating is not meant to say that the series is not good. My rating is based off of a personal preference and my own opinion of what I felt while watching the series. To sum it up, this series is a real world thing that happens every day.

Good relationships in the beginning. About halfway through the series all the relationships crashed and burned and deemed unredeemable. NOT an exaggeration!!!!
Our leading females went from happy to sad & struggling and they stayed that remaining 20 episodes. Not an Exaggeration!!!! Although one of them appeared to come out her slump, you still couldn’t feel any real happiness.

For me I don’t normally watch this type of series but I absolutely love shows that have a strong female lead. This series has one however it’s one of those shows where the domino effect happens. One thing happens and then another thing happens and none of it is good, but you keep watching because you’re hoping for some sort of gratification, revenge or ANYTHING that gives your character justice. It sort of happened, kinda, I think near the LAST episode!!!

It’s definitely a real world series however many may not like it because it has a somewhat melancholy vibe and gets really depressing. It is not upbeat and there is really not a good source of romance here. I personally didn’t like it so much because the series is more like a harsh reality of the struggles people trying to establish themselves in the business world and manage their marriage and relationships experience. Again it is just a harsh reality! Many may not like it because they already deal with this stuff every day; who wants to watch somebody else struggle and not overcome it. And that’s absolutely what you get here watching people struggle and fail. I personally watching things that leave me feeling empowered, hopeful, encouraged or gives enlightenment.

There is lots of backstabbing and plotting. The good people suffer, dig themselves up and then suffer again. Sadly this goes on for a very long time. The betrayals are relationship based and unredeemable, so attachment to any relationships is not good.

Would I watch this again? Absolutely not. Why? It was slow, somewhat depressing and not very gratifying.
Would I recommend the series to anyone? Not to my hopeless romantic’s but I would recommend it to people that like melancholy or melodramatic series.
What did I like most about this series? The female lead was hard-working and loyal.
What I dislike about this series? It was slow and our villains seem to win 99% of the time. Very anticlimactic. Somewhat open ended. Not a happy ending just and ending.

Wow!

You do not want to miss this. This series was absolute gem. The truth is I actually binge watched it. Unfortunately that mean I was up all night because I was totally pulled in. I have to admit that this was one of the best lakorns that I have watched. On one point I feel very good about this. On another point I feel bad that I enjoyed it so much because it was one I had to do it revenge. I really do not enjoy revenge movies or series of any crime but this one had me like screaming yes. The action kept you engaged. From beginning to end and I honestly could not tell how it would play out but there was definitely a consistent plot. It was somewhat similar to time travel series that I’ve seen in the past but the plot itself was very unique in the sense that there was a lesson to be learned from it. There was absolute character growth throughout this series and I really mean that. There was a hint of romance but the series itself is not solely focused on the romance. I highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed.

I really want to begin this review on a positive note because I enjoyed the overall concept or plot of this series. I especially loved the last episodes. It’s somewhat hard to review this series without telling you too much or revealing the plot but I will be honest. I did not enjoy many of the episodes and felt that the behavior of the cast members was either exaggerated or unrealistic. I know it may be unfair to say so but I’ve watched many series that have female leads as a snob or difficult person but in in reality they’re really nice but this one was different, it seemed forced and it just not great.

Our leads consistently did things that normal adults would not do and that’s why I didn’t rate it higher than seven. For example someone is engaged and now has a fiancé. The old flame who is supposed to be a good person and mature consistently lingers around the person that has already committed to be with someone else but is also giving them attention. It gives the sense that she is either dull or has no common sense. I will say about the same about the male lead being in a relationship with someone but hanging around someone else. Although innocent, normal people just don’t do things like this at this age. I did not like the overall series not because of the plot but the acting/script but I don’t like to quit things once I started.

to avoid the torture that I went through I would recommend anyone watching to watch episode one through five and then skip to episode 12 or 15, the fakeness, superiority complex and forced snubness and weird naivety somewhat diminishes. It makes it a lot more bearable. I will admit that after episode 12 or 15 the series someone takes a different turn and it gets a little more interesting although our characters still portrayed those unrealistic behaviors.

I enjoyed this series. If you’re looking for something fun, cute and upbeat to watch. I recommend this. I enjoyed the plot and the ending. The only thing that I didn’t like was that the female leads character had a childlike personality that seemed a bit off but it was still entertaining. Feel like staying in a getting some laughs, this is a good one to watch. The male lead was cool, calm and really made it interesting. The supporting cast offered a refreshing spin on the series. You can only love them.

When I say this was unentertaining I honestly mean it was unentertaining. Maybe it’s just me but I was expecting so much more than what I got from the series. Initially I got a positive vibe from this series based on episode one. The first episode was very upbeat. Our female lead was outgoing , somewhat adventurous and most certainly smart. Our male lead of course was a younger individual as well and had not yet come into his full character yet. I decided to give it a go and I somewhat wish I had not. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t awful, it just wasn’t fun or fun to watch.
I will admit that the scenery, wardrobe as well as the music was perfect. I did pick up on some of the harmonic sounds from the story of Ming lan and I got a little bit excited however this is not the type to series. There was nothing witty about this series. No genius moves made. No outwitting anyone intellectually took place. There is nothing heartfelt about this series. There was nothing remotely romantic. That being said our two leads had zero chemistry. I can only assume that this has something to do with the writers attempting to depict real life events.
Well anyway there was zero chemistry. That had about as much chemistry as oil in water. There was no bickering but there was a sense of camaraderie. And what I mean by that is they each maintain their independent role. The female lead was honestly seen and treated as a colleague for the majority of the series. Truthfully speaking the emperor made an attempt to connect with our female lead in the beginning however for whatever reasons she did not appear inviting. So he merely gave up after a few tries and just honestly treated her like a coworker the entire series. I honestly am not exaggerating.
I waited so long for the Episode that somewhat reflected the synopsis of the series however I am currently at episode 45 in the series and I have yet to see our young princess meet her supposed future husband. At this point I’m not even sure if that’s going to show in the series. With all that said I think that they totally need to redo the synopsis of this series because it is absolutely misleading.

My honest synopsis about this series: it is about a man who became emperor and the empress that was chosen for him.
It most certainly reflects how they function as individuals because there was nothing remotely reflecting a power couple or team effort from them at all. What I saw was the empress making wise choices and the emperor making what he believe we’re wise choices. I no there were many comments about how he disregarded the empress and how she really cared for him but after watching 45 episodes and I honestly can’t see any of it. It’s more like two people accepted their fate and just chose to continue on how they were going. And that’s exactly what they did. I do believe that the series can actually cast without one of the leads and it will still be exactly the same.

If you’re looking for historical drama to watch you may like this one. However if you’re looking for something stimulating you won’t find it here. If you’re looking for something slightly romantic, you won’t find it here if you’re looking for something that is upbeat you will not find it here. If you’re looking for something heartfelt look someplace else you will not find it here. With that being said I understand it is so easy to get sucked in by the image that is portrayed with the series and also the cast members but be warned there is no chemistry between our leads, no warmth, heartfelt moments, no witty things, no genius plotting. FYI, there is one crazy concubine who is generally allowed to act the way she likes but that too is not cute. Not in the least. Also I am convinced that empress will live her life as a virgin empress, no kiss, no real hug. Nothing. Just so sad.

Completed the series, something happened but it was still sad. The last 10 episodes are more entertaining but sad too.

It was an okay series. Maybe a good filler while waiting on your favorite show to aire. It has some good elements to it such as the supporting cast but I just couldn’t get into it. I finished the series but that was because I forced myself too. The FL just gave me negative vibes by her actions from episode 1. From episode 1 to 18, I watched this catch chases mouse game. She was somewhat resistant to the end which maid the progression of the relationship nonexistent.the acting wasn’t bad, the story itself wasn’t terrible but the FL was too much for me. I kept wishing he’d move on.
