There is no where in the show that pointed to her saving his family because she wanted him. Not in the drama or in the novel. No one else has even said this thing you are saying, so this is a personal interpretation for whatever reason. I watched the show and I read the novel and can tell you vehemently that this is false.

This is not why she begged for him. She only did so because of the reputation and good deeds of his clan. She begged for them, but ended up being able to save only him. It was not because she was looking for a new lover. Does that even make sense?
The drama actually does not need to add fillers because a whole paragraph can be done in 5 seconds. The book is 169/171 chapters, if you add the two extras. And each chapter is quite long. Drama production is limited to about 42 minutes (because of the intro and outro) per episode and a max of 40 episodes. There is A LOT of content, even too much content. So the addition of SRQ scenes is purely by choice. A very intentional decision that is affecting the main story.
This is the 2nd time they are doing it, making it look like SRQ got the idea to persist with his fantasy about…
I know that. What I am saying is that they are making it look like the ideas were not from him, and instead he got them through others when that is not so in the book. It now makes him look more pitiable and a bit more acceptable.
And herein lies the problem. I honestly blame the production for this. At this point, since several episodes ago,…
The thing of consummation is not even an issue at all. How will he know if they have done so or not? He likely also thinks they have because of how close and affectionate they look.
Seee Why did they give it to SRQ??, the one he was supposed to do is different. The director is so weird
Yes. That's why I said it would have been better to show PWX's own first, allude to his own, and then show it after. But they should still show PWX. This plot is very important to making his character shine.
I don't see SRQ as irritating. The character is rather tragic. Just that the actor's acting is a bit lacking.…
And herein lies the problem. I honestly blame the production for this. At this point, since several episodes ago, LR was not wishy washy with that guy. It ended especially after she went to save PWX in his family home. Even that idea of going with SRQ was given to her by Shangguan Ya, although she still thought about it and acted on it. And it was also a test she was trying and she was doing it to help her with investigations. But even in the show, they have shown LR saying she now knows SRQ did not understand her at all and that it is PWX who does. There are incidences like that scattered around.
The most unnecessary scenes in this whole show are SRQ and Hua Le and SRQ with the street vendor. And they put…
This is the 2nd time they are doing it, making it look like SRQ got the idea to persist with his fantasy about LR because of the encouragement of others. First was SRH telling him to take the opportunity of PWX being dead to save her and get her. In the novel, he had that idea all by himself. Now it is this lantern vendor guy telling him to pursue her to leave no regrets. No one told him anything. This is a small spoiler but, even his father knows how he feels about LR and spoke to him about it. Told him to act right because she was married. SO JUST WHY????????
The most unnecessary scenes in this whole show are SRQ and Hua Le and SRQ with the street vendor. And they put them all in one episode, on a day we get only one episode. I want to bang my head on the table.
SRQ saying so LR remembered the time they spent together in their past life is just funny. Did he lose his memories on arrival to the second life? So how is she supposed to forget? Anything to gaslight himself.
Unless the palace banquet scene was for the part about LC, and even if it was, they should have committed the entire scene and given screen time to more important plot points. They did not translate the whole scene the way it was in the novel, to give it more meaning, so just WHY???? I'm sure it was because of SRQ
LR is not confused about SRQ at all. What is happening with her is fear of giving her heart to someone and getting…
Her experience with PWX in the first life reinforced what she was taught. So now you are seeing the accumulation of 38 years of pain and heartbreak reinforced. And then added to being selfish and arrogant. So the LR now has to unlearn all the bad caused by her experiences and her own bad choices. Also, the production is romanticising her feelings about SRQ in the second life. This is not how it was, especially at this point in the novel. Also, when her cup will be full with SRQ, she will explode, and that will be because of PWX lol.
Thank you so much for breaking down the novel for those of us who haven't read it. It was amazing reading this…
You are welcome. I really recommend reading the book. It is really good. I blame the 40 episode count and 45 minute limits for this problem. The drama can only do so much with those boundaries, so we miss out on a lot of things and that is so unfortunate. So you have to really pay attention to everything in the show to get a fuller picture.
I believe the confusion in LR's feelings for SRQ is a problem with the production. I think because the actor for SRQ is liked, they tried to give him more screen time and prominence.
