It pissed me off a bit when Rong Rong butted in and suggested playing Qin during the gathering. Maybe she is trying…
She's trying to prevent Consort Rou's plan from working. That is Hua Le marrying a powerful family, thereby providing backing for her brother.

The empress did what? That live cat thing is wrong on so many levels... I admit every thing is in line with her…
I was taken very aback when I read that part too lol. PWX is incredibly patient and devoted. The only type of person that can love someone like LR, so she is extremely fortunate. But just like they told him in the novel, he is really like his father. His father was devoted to his mother. Loved her and took care of everything for her. She was a spoiled woman. PWX is different in that although he is devoted to and spoils LR, he lets her think for herself and make her own decisions. She can stand on her own without his help. So he is doing better than his dad like he wanted.

I would have preferred that too. Knowing their past is so painful, especially from his own pov and comparing it to their present. Thankfully, she had the good sense to choose better this time around, for herself and for everyone else. Even without the romantic entanglement with PWX.
Do you mean chapter 170? Reading that chapter completely tore up my heart. I cried and cried. And I read it after reading chapter 49 because of a comment I Saw here lol. Big mistake because I already wanted to strangle LR lol. I have no idea why the writer put it in, especially since it is an extra chapter. I wish the writer didn't, but at the same time, I am happy the writer did. But having chapter 171 right after was the best move lol. It was too funny.

Being so far behind someone is also tiring and he always forgives her, he should ignore everything she does so…
You have not yet watched the episode, but you are jumping to conclusions and that's not fair. She went on stage to play with her sister to block her plans, and then he went to join her. Should she have, in the presence of all the people in the palace hall, stood up and left? Her sister was playing the flute and the younger brother, consort Rou's son, was performing with his sword.

I feel like I need to say this thing again. I started reading the book from ch 44 because I wanted to read the…
LR and PWX were married for less than a year before things went sour but that relationship really impacted her life. Her handwriting, the incense she liked and even intimacy were influenced by him. In the start of their marriage, they were both inexperienced in intimacy, but just like with learning to do her makeup and hair, PWX also learnt how to perform in the bedroom. And she liked it. So after years, since she did not want a casual relationship, and after SRQ was there, she made him get intimate with her. Past life LR was really selfish. Even with SRQ around, she still felt lonely and that her mansion was cold. That is not the same with PWX. She tried to replicate the things she had with him even after they separated. LR loved, even in her past life, but she handled all her relationships badly because she did not learn any differently and she did not want to put in the effort to do so. She liked being pleased, but not being the pleaser after PWX.
Current LR has to unlearn over 19 years of pain and bad decisions and choose to take a risk again for an end she does not know either. It really is difficult and you have to be patient with her.
Fortunately, even though PWX is head over heels and patient, he is not a pushover and will call her out when necessary. When she finally takes a stance, she will not waver. When their relationship fully bloomed, it was so beautiful. That is why ch 133 is my favourite chapter. It was the encapsulation of their character growth. Such a contrast to everything that was wrong before.

I feel like I need to say this thing again. I started reading the book from ch 44 because I wanted to read the spoiler for ep 11 after someone mentioned the chapter it was on and how it was highly anticipated. I got curious lol. After reading till ch 49, I wanted to strangle LR LOL. But you have to keep with the story. I was too impatient and did not calm down, but it soon became obvious what the problems were.

LR is the eldest princess of the nation, backed by having the emperor for a father and a very powerful family, for generations, from her mother's side. I have no idea why someone in this position would be anything short of arrogant. It is a rare miracle for someone in this position to come out humble and even when I wanted to strangle her, I absolutely loved the characterisation because it was too real.
Anyway, the emotional problem is that LR was actually well loved as a child and her parents loved each other. But then LC was born and then after a while, the emperor, after he took the throne, felt the immense pressure and obstruction from the aristocratic families. The empress did not stand on her husband's side, but on the side of her family, which was the leader of the aristocratic families and so LR's parents became estranged and she and LC lost favor with their father. Now her mother is focused on LC because he is the crown prince and will sacrifice her to promote him. Her father would rather she married in a distant land or execute her to prevent her from getting more powerful backing that would help LC. Do you know what that feels like? She learnt from a young age that love will not last forever and she only really has herself to rely on.

Other than that, she learnt very painfully, that she must not indulge in things she likes and she must hide her real emotions and feelings from others. Don't give love and don't show love under any circumstances. When LR and LC were kids, LC took a liking to a stray cat and secretly fed it, but his mother found out and made him bury it alive as punishment for liking it. He and LR were beaten when they tried to protect it. They were punished for things like these. How do we expect someone like this to act any differently from how she is right now?

I'll drop a few other spoilers about her relationship with PWX below

It feels weird that LiRong is doing the exact thing she complained about PWX in the first life 👇The main thing…
LR is not confused about SRQ at all. What is happening with her is fear of giving her heart to someone and getting it broken. Just a few eps ago, she thanked PWX for understanding her, that she thought SRQ was the one who did, but she sees that he did not at all. In yesterday's episodes, they showed a flashback of her mother telling her not to give her heart to anyone because she will be hurt.

Now im hesitating even more to continue this drama even tho im only on ep 6.
Please do not hesitate. It is actually obvious that she loves and respects him, but her state of mind is too complicated with what she experienced growing up in the palace.

Obviously he is wrong. His conclusion about the whole thing is wrong and he has a nasty personality. You know initially, he was not going to do much. He was going to wait for things to happen organically like in their last lives, then take action. He was waiting for LC to be imprisoned by the emperor, then all he had to do was to prevent the aristocratic families from allying to rescue him. But then LR and PWX prevented LC from marrying Shangguan Ya and so protected him and now LR is gaining more power from the Inspectorate office that he was trying to prevent from being established. So he just resorts to more insidious moves.

He makes things more difficult for himself. His family desired to remain impartial in matters of politics and…
Yes. They are a sickness in that regard. They hold too much power and will do anything to preserve it.

From his point of view, he was doing the right thing and his argument is not baseless. It is just that from what he knows and from what he's seen, he has come to the wrong conclusion, even in the second life. Add his personality to that, and he is bound to be who he is right now and that is unfortunate.

He never loved SRQ and was with her cuz she was supporting nobel families and his brother son to ascend the throne.
That is why I said he loved her the way he thought was right and put power above her. From his point of view, she was causing harm to the people and for someone like him, that was wrong and she did not stop with repeated warnings and advice. What else should he have done. When they said to tie her up and prop her on the palace gates, he resisted it. Even then, he tried to protect her the way he thought was good. He did not want that.
It's like if my relative whom I love or someone I married is continuously committing crimes against other people like kidnapping or murder, what would be the right thing for me to do as a good person?

He actually did love her. It's there in everything he said and did till the end in the novel. His love was doing what he thought was best for her. And in their previous life, their goals aligned, so it wasn't an issue.

His problem is his family is linked to the noble families. The safest route for him to save his family and LR…
But that is not him at all and that is not his purpose. He actually has the ability to convince his father to make their family go back to where they are from since the change in emperors or dynasties does not affect them, and since they usually maintain a neutral stance. But armed with what his personality is like and the information he has from living this life before, he chooses what to him is the best and easiest path. To him, he is saving the world.

He makes things more difficult for himself. His family desired to remain impartial in matters of politics and…
With what him and his family went through in the past, it is actually quite normal that he tries to prevent it. But it is not only because of what his family went through that he is acting like this. He is trying to preserve the aristocratic families that are the foundation of the nation. To him, and even from his own arguments, you will see that he is actually trying to protect the people. Even though the aristocratic families seek to protect themselves and gain more benefits for themselves, wiping them out will destroy the nation and leave it a mess for other nations to collect the pieces of.
But his conclusion is wrong and so it affects his way of doing things, added to his self-righteousness.
PWX wants power to be able to stand on equal footing with LR and to bring necessary change to the world. He also greatly values his love and will not want to sacrifice it in order to obtain greater power. But he is still ambitious and will still find another way to achieve his goals without his love suffering.

Why did they put a display of martial arts by SRQ? He just seems like a weak Scholar who can’t fight, that sword…
That is because martial arts is one of the six arts and children of aristocratic families, especially the male children are all compelled to learn them. That is what they mean when they say PWX had the top scores for three years in all the six arts. It means he's great at music, martial arts, painting, calligraphy, literature and I don't know the 6th one. These privileged children or aristocratic family children may specialise in some over the others, and may not be professionals in them, but they have to learn it.

Every time I watch SRQ speak to LR, I come up with a new adjective to describe him. I really need him to stop speaking to her and looking at her. I really really want to poke his eyes and sew his mouth shut. He should communicate through writing only.
