That makes sense and explains it. Ch 171 was a hoot. I was so confused reading it after 170, but I laughed so much too lol. It was a great balance and calmed me
I think it's also worth considering that he does know LR cares for him but she's too stubborn and proud to admit…
I was dumb enough to even read anything before the show ended. I need to finally exercise wisdom and not do that. I'll take what I see on screen instead please.

Exactly. Read the novel AFTER watching the show. I usually do the opposite, or finish the novel at the beginning of the show's airtime, but I advise waiting until it ends before you read it for this one.

He said she was having an affair. Him blaming himself was out of guilt and love for her. He did wrong in the beginning, but she took it way too far. She humiliated him in every way, did not care about him one bit and shattered his heart. I was so furious and heartbroken reading his pov.
Solid piece of advice, current non-novel readers should not read the book until the show is over, especially chapter 170. I have personal beef with myself right now for doing something so ill advised.
Novel readers how did you cope? Because I started from Chapter 44 because of tomorrow and I'm now on chapter 49 and I know exactly who between the two leads I want to strangle.
I think you need to read it for yourself. I don't know how I'm going to summarise it
