From what the novel readers said, I like the deviation in his character from the novel. His character has layers. Like an interesting mix of good and bad. That might make you pity him, but at the same time make you wonder which of his shown feelings is real.

Me trying since the beginning, through sheer force of will, to prevent Ye Shijie from falling for XFF. I keep trying to turn his head and eyes towards Liu Xii instead.
I wonder if Liu Xu will be paired up with Jiang Rui. They have the makings for it.

Pity? Minus every other insane thing he did to her when he very well remembers all she sacrificed for him, the one that shows his cruelty the most is that he buried her alive. He could have poisoned her instead of giving her a sedative, but he didn't. He gave her a short acting sedative, so she woke up in the pit, then he just whacked her over the head and poured the sand over her. She could have woken up in the process and was clearly still alive, but that didn't matter. And you say this is by force?

How the heck did he even get entangled with the princess in the first place? What genuine reason led him to have secret rendezvous with the princess, of all people, in her personal quarters? Especially when he is known as a man of integrity? This means other people have tried to get close to him, but how did she succeed?

Also, in a flashback, when she went out, she wore a hat with a veil to cover her face

I would like to see what they wrote as the ending for her character. I hope its good.

Xiao Heng's obsession with red in his fit is something I hope lasts forever. The more red there is, the better. With the colouring of the show and the way Wang Xingyue looks in red, this is a treat.

That would be a good redemption for Grace for me. It'd give her brownie points

Exactly. The episode was really a reconciliation episode between father and daughter. Both coming to understand each other and finally start to bond. Because even Ina didn't know how her dad really felt

They started a background check on Dave which prompted her "mother" to visit the Bok family to try to derail them. DH's "mom" said so herself.
Other than that, the Bok mother never supported Gwiju marrying his late wife because she could not see her in his future. Don't you think she would have looked her up and everything to find out how to kick her out?
Plus, she usually checked the people marrying into the family. Gwiju's dad once said that she chose him specifically because he was alone, so nobody would come if something happened to him. She actually exercises some caution towards their spouses because of their powers.

But what I even meant when I said that was that since Baek Ilhong seems to have had a relationship with her daughter, whether she was divorced from the dad or not, then Gwiju would have known because his late wife would have told him. They loved and trusted each other enough to share their family secrets.

Why does this connection you have in mind have to happen? There is literally no such relationship. According to the story, even the con woman loved her daughter and had a relationship with her, of some sort. Then there is no way the Bok family would not know who the biological mother of their daughter-in-law/wife is. Plus she would have attacked the Bok family many years prior in an act of revenge. Why wait 7 years?
Baek Ilhong is using DH, with the other members of her group to scam men for money. That is literally what their game plan is. No revenge arc. Even the targets were agreed on by DH to rebel against her parents like Ina pointed out when she read her mind. And when they showed the parents of Gwiju's late wife, they both were equally devastated, acting in a way that showed it was their biological kid.
DH already knows who her biological mother was. And if she is really Baek Ilhong's daughter, then what DH said to her today makes no sense. She has been locking her up, oppressing her, making her use her body to get involved with men for money, which is her end goal. Is that how she would treat a biological daughter she supposedly misses? Threatening her, forcing her to sign what is basically a slave certificate.

This connection does not have to happen at all. The show does not point to any of this at all.

If DH's "uncle" didn't know all those things about Ina, then he has a memory worse than that of a goldfish and the intelligence of an ostrich. He stalked her for weeks for crying out loud. He's literally the only person on the planet that should have all that information. So all the comments on twitter saying that her dad did not know those things, but he did had me really confused.
Gwiju failed in fulfilling his duties as a father even though he loved his daughter, but this was stretching it.

I doubt that ex-wife was her daughter. They already showed her parents, so that is highly unlikely/impossible.
Why do Dong Hee and Grace deserve to be together for their sakes? They have shown that DH has always liked men. Her arc has nothing to do with her sexuality, but getting out of the state of mind that has her making self destructive decisions. And she has not shown any bit of interest in Grace and neither has Grace done so with her.

We'll have to wait and see. Hopefully next week as they address the issues with Ina.

He's doing a poor job, but I wouldn't say that. Especially as he is starting to step up, even though it is not as much as is needed yet.
