I can say without a doubt that Shine is the Thai series I identify with most so far. I hope it doesn't disappoint me, because I'll definitely be DISAPPOINTED this time if it doesn't live up to its promise.

When I watched the first episode, I thought that GMMTV started learning from past mistakes. The episodes 4 and 5 proved me wrong. It's just a succession of faulty details that make the whole thing indigestible. You guys at GMMTV should stop milking the audience with recycled leads and dime store scripts, it's getting absurd. As for me, the next time I'll just skip your shows, I've got no time for mediocrity. It would take a lot more than a below average flop to impress me. 1/10, DROPPED! 👎🏻
I've got three good reasons to watch this and they've nothing to do with the trailer. And this better deliver on all its promises. Period dramas and biopics are my specialty, and the gay-themed ones even more so, I'll be pitiless in case of disappointment.
The 4th episode was irrelevant, there wasn't much happening whether in the the contents or in the form. I hope there's gonna be genuine story development in the next episodes and more convincing writing; the sloppiness irked me off. The target audience is feminine, I know, but it's no reason to butcher the standards. Gay men are also watching. Keep us invested!
The general rating is slowly dropping but for me it remains the best gay-themed Asian series I've watched so far. The only show I rated 9/10. Shows with morals are so rare nowadays.
I completed it this weekend. It wasn't bad at all but I felt that the storyline was rushed towards the end which weakened its realism at times. The positive things that stood out with this series were the well-suited cast and the acting that was definitely above average. I appreciated Smart's acting and general presence in particular. [If any producer reads this] I'd love to see more tall actors and actors with long hair in these shows, I know it's wishing for too much, but I'd really enjoy watching a new show with these characteristics in the leads.. I feel underrepresented all the time lol..

For a series with such an engaging and lively theme song, the story itself is draggy and uneventful, the chemistry nonexistent between the leads, the dialogues are boring and empty.. I've got no time, and definitely no patience, for such a sloppy flop. And even the Thailand rural landscapes that I usually enjoy seeing can't keep me interested. Maybe the series is really bad or maybe it's just not for me, either way, I drop it and don't recommend it.
Thought I'd give it a shot, considering the high rating. I watched 5 episodes so far. Not bad at all. I usually complain about the scripts, casts and acting, but this time all three are acceptable. The annoying tropes and buzzing fujoshis are only marginally present as well which is good. And the first sex scene was... above average, a good 6/10, and it got into my top 10 list of favorite sex scenes in BL series in the 9th position. Six more episodes to go. Still got time to find out if the actors and writers outdid themselves in the remaining episodes... 👍🏻
I can say that this series is making it up to me. I was among those (or the rare) who didn't enjoy watching SOTUS and SOTUS S. I didn't fancy the plot back then and wanted to see the lead actors in something very different. Wish granted and rightly so. The two episodes I've watched so far of this new series have reinforced my expectations for future episodes. GMMTV is learning from its past mistakes, it's worth mentioning as well! 👍🏻
Just watched the second episode and my feelings are kinda mixed. If I were rather enthusiastic with the first episode, my appreciation went downhill with the second. I noticed a significant decrease in the writing quality, a clear lack of chemistry between the actors and... a general annoying atmosphere, which brings me to consider putting it on-hold until it's fully aired and see how watchable it gets then, I'll drop it altogether after one or two new episodes, otherwise.
This series is totally cringe. I watched half of the first episode, it was enough. I see too many victims of sexual assault, rape and molestation at work, I don't need that when I try to relax. Maybe it's "normal" in Thailand for men to act in a certain way and accept a certain violation of personal space and intimacy, but not in my dictionary. Love starts and ends with the respect of the other partner. Debauchery shouldn't be normalized, romanticized even less. The storyline is so-so and the acting below par... anyway.
I was looking forward to watching this series and the first episode is on point. The acting is 180° from "The Next Prince" and the cast is much better. The storyline isn't very innovative in this series, definitely not the first chap to hide in a village away from trouble, and it's not for those seeking maturity and wisdom, but the script seems to be well-written with a lot of humor and wit, nonetheless. For me, what stole the show was the sceneries; Thailand's countryside is always a pleasure to see on screen and in real life.
Idk if you're better or worse than me cuz I can't watch something I am not enjoying. If you feel it will plummet…
