Hmmm 🤔, these are actually good points. I agree with much of it. The young prodigy trope often goes too far these days. She's out pacing Alexander the Great. So, she's definitely a little overpowered.

7 episodes down. All level. It might be an unpopular opinion here, but I'm loving the restrained affection between the leads. They are doing a fantastic job. It hasn't diluted their chemistry one bit. This drama has a real cinematic quality.

I'd typically agree if romance is the core theme. If it's not the central theme and merely a lesser component, then I don't believe it to be necessary. Following through and executing a creative vision is more important, and romantic / love aspects can be portrayed in a much softer / poetic way. To date, I don't believe Ai Mi has taken on a role where romance / falling in love is the main story driver.

Agreed. Roles on the big-screen are vital to being recognised as a top-flight actor. I'll definitely support her no matter what. She is one of a small handful of actors who I watch religiously, and support their projects through to the end, even if I'm particularly enjoying it. I'm just highlighting a potential pitfall of taking these types of roles. I hope people take a step back and appreciate her performance as a standalone portrayal.

Thanks. Hmmm, that makes me a little anxious about this project. Popular IP remakes always come with a great deal of pressure / expectation. More so than book adaptations. If people loved a drama / film, they will always compare your performance to the one in the original. I recently watched "Loving Strangers", which is the Chinese remake of the popular Kdrama "My Mister". I personally enjoyed it, and thought both Mark Chao and Zhang Zifeng were outstanding. But it's not surprising there were many who held the opinion that it just didn't match the atmosphere of the original work. There are some roles that are so well played you just can't see anyone else in them. Which in many ways is unintentionally unfair to any actor tasked with playing the role in the future. I am guilty of this myself.

Hmmm 🤔. I don't necessarily hate this idea. I actually support it. They aren't saying hire ugly actors, they are saying cast accordingly and focus your aesthetics on realism, not beauty. They do this in movies. There are glamorous roles where actors need to look stunningly gorgeous, and unglamorous roles where actors need to wear life's hardships upon their face. This may also assist talented young actors looking to make the transition into film in breaking through the idol typecast barrier.
