Yes, I definitely don't like his methods. It really stinks that most other agencies go out of their way to prevent unfair negativity aimed at their talent, while WXY's likes to encourage it.
I also don't like the way they market him. Although YZ has put him in some big hits, he doesn't lean into Xingyue's masculinity, strong physique, athleticism, and physicality. After "The Double," I really thought we'd see a lot more of a push to frame him in a heroic light. And while I always enjoy his acting, I don't always enjoy his characters.
Bravo π. Wonderful article rugged & Xiang83. I'm going to have to make this my first Jdrama. It looks amazing. Great to see more variety on the main page, too π.

Looking forward to this one. Hopefully, it does really well and a heap of positivity comes Tian Tian's way after the false accusations unfairly held her back.

That sounds like the "Watch Idol dramas only" crowd.
I get the softer feature preference for purely idol drama indulgence. Xingyue's look is much more versatile. I've said before he has a ruggedly handsome appearance that fits a much broader range of characters. It's easier to make his type softer, than it is to make a baby-face type look fierce and powerful. Ci Sha (featured on the main page recently in a Xiang83 wuxia article about the film "Blades of the Guardians"), who you mentioned, is a great example of a versatile look, and it's no surprise he gets a lot more film opportunities than most who get trapped in the idol space. I actually hope WXY follows a similar path and pushes for film roles. A good balance between enjoyable profit-making projects and those that garner acclaim is what I desire most for him.
You're right about YZ. His antagonistic marketing style creates unnecessary friction with other fanbases. Pushing their buttons and promoting them to attack the work of his actors. At this point, I think we all hope he makes a clean break and signs with someone who allows him to focus on his work. All actors get their share of negative attention. I've seen some nasty stuff regarding Lu Yuxiao, but sometimes it seems like Xingyue is picked on a little more than most and over the most trivial things.
Project Updates:Love in Red Dust - has passed review and will be issued a license to air, episodes were cut down…
Hmmm π€. Thank you. After Jadewind, there are only two dramas that hold top place on my most anticipated list. LIRD and KTTPH. They had a brief filming overlap in Hengdian, but LIRD started and wrapped up first. Both are IQIYI dramas and my preferred airing order would be LIRD followed by KTTPH. I'm hearing summer (June, July, August) as the potential spot for KTTPH. So, it will be interesting to see what happens.

It's annoying and feels artificially manufactured. They were attacking the appearance of Ancy, too. Those motorcycle reuters you posted, and the pictures posted by MarissaDanelle are peak visuals. Stunning. Yet, you actually have desperate people pushing blurry pictures that distort features as a real representation of the drama's doomed aesthetic. It seems like a small vocal, but very committed minority that likes to hound him and his projects. I think you've mentioned before there is actually a group of individuals that has a bee in their bonnet about him and his growing popularity. They need to give it up because he's talented and looks great. The First Love tactics won't work on him this time around.

Simply perfectπ. God, he looks good here and below π₯°. The "Top Gun" vibes are off the charts. He can exude confidence like no other, too.
