That first clip was from them filming on June 27th. They did several takes of that carrying scene...Xingyue definitely…
Oh, it did briefly cross my mind when I saw it (have I seen that before?). But I couldn't place it. I did a quick check through the clips posted recently, but I likely didn't go far enough back 😅. I'm bringing Weibo reposting to MDL.

He looks very dapper. There's some great styling on both sides.

His lift and carry skills are truly superb. His FL is always safe in his arms. The clip where Ruohan has her hair…
That's the one. Impressive, you know exactly the clip I'm referring to even after posting so many 😁.

Yeah, I have three actors that I follow daily on Weibo, Douyin, and MDL. WXY, Ai Mi, and ZJM. Then, a large wider list of actors that I really like, but don't check in on as frequently. With regard to the wider list, it really depends on the project they're doing at the time. It can be daily if something fascinating is happening, or if not much is going on, it might be once a fortnight or a month. I'm always adding to the larger list, so I will probably add XRH to it after LIRD airs. I usually add an actor after I've seen and enjoyed at least two of their dramas. I absolutely loved her in TBT. So, I'm excited to see her opposite WXY. If you have any good Ruohan recommendations, I'd be happy to check them out.

To answer the question, I wouldn't hold back on this one. The Double stands out, but that's likely due to total chemistry including the aired drama. So, if we stick to just the bts, this is probably number one. Others may disagree, but the amount of content produced from this set is really impressive. It's just moment after moment. I can think of good moments with Zhou Ye. Their interviews / LS were cute. But, the bts didn't match LIRD. There are some standout clips with Yuxiao from the PM set. However, once again, not nearly as many as LIRD. Interviews and Hi6 added to that, but that doesn't count. I saw some good stuff with Lulu on the set of Jadewind, but still, it didn't produce this volume of content. So, I'm going to say that, imo, LIRD is his best bts chemistry. And, that's saying something because, like Ruohan, he is good at creating it. He's really maturing and getting better as a ML. He's looking confident, comfortable, and relaxed backstage. He really creates a fun atmosphere with his FLs, and that can be seen here with Ruohan. They seem to be having a blast together.

CW shares a lot of overlapping themes with CD. Both are on my WL, so it will be interesting to compare them.  Although…
Oh, I agree. That's a good point. A bad performance can certainly ruin the appetite for similar-themed stories.

Yes, an actor needs to pay the bills and hone their craft. There is a bit of give and take between industry professionals on the creative / production side and those on the performing side. WXY has to put himself out there, and make the most of the opportunities he's given. But, at the same time, industry people need to understand what they have in him, and create / put him in positions where he is likely to succeed. I'd actually like to see more original scripts (not novel adaptations) in Cdrama where they build stories with specific actors in mind. In many ways, that's the charm of following young talent; you get to go along on the journey with them. Really hope to see him in a variety of modern dramas, and hopefully branch into movies 🎬 😁.

100% agree. I'm curious, what did you love the most about that character or how WXY plays the ML?
Cough! Cough! KMLM 🤣. Some scenes are so silly / ridiculous that they become the most memorable.

Yes, it's one of the things that often irks me the most about Cdrama, and I hope the screenwriters remedy it. Too many unnecessary and overdone scenes where the writers take it upon themselves to sell things that should be left to the actors. Death and love are often where it all goes astray. A good director should tear some pages out of the script and let the writers know that it's not a book (even if it is an adaptation), and we don't need all of that.

It's not always the ML who has to do the unnecessary / overdone scenes. But more often than not it is. I know Cdrama can write brilliant MLs, and let the visuals tell the story. We all do, we've seen it. But, from time to time, they ruin stories with great potential, and kill your enthusiasm for certain characters (usually male. Lol). I'm secretly hoping they understand what they have with WXY, and steer him clear of these types of roles.

So, Ai Mi has flown in. But I still need to bite my tongue until it's official. Perhaps they are waiting for her birthday in two days to announce. This is torture.

Happy to see that countdown 😁. Two good and very different dramas airing in July 🫶. It doesn't get much better than that. BRB, let me cancel all my appointments.

Yes, I should make the time for it. I'm currently on weibo every day, obsessively hunting for FL confirmation on another drama set to start filming this month. I'll make sure I remember to have a quick peek at the OG news for a release date each time I go on.

100% agree. I'm curious, what did you love the most about that character or how WXY plays the ML?
Very good read. For me, it was that the role in The Double was the perfect fit for WXY'S talents. It was one of those less is more roles that only actors of a certain calibre can pull off. Without a commanding presence, it doesn't work. Without his charm, it doesn't work. It's unique in the sense that it's a slow-burn romance, but one that you feel growing in each and every interaction. The relationship growth is just as rewarding as the next plot twist in the story. Somehow, it manages to feel deeper and more impactful than the romances depicted in dramas where the leads are all over each other. The Duke Su character was also so well written it was one of those great characters that can be enjoyed by both female and male fans alike. Essentially, you achieve this when the attributes of the character are attractive and appealing to both sets of fans.

I'd love to see a lot more of these types of male characters in Cdrama. Less is more works so well in a visual medium. I often find it's the way that a ML is written in Cdrama that lets many shows down. They take a perfectly good character and make them do something ridiculous or just plain weird to sell their supposed love for the FL. This may be things like chasing apparitions of the FL around a marketplace full of people (sometimes physically reaching out to grasp her). Doing weird things with the dead body (going on a ride down the canal with it, for example). Crying harder than any other characters to prove he loves her more (even if the context doesn't fit). Engaging in a time-wasting game of make up, break up, repeat (pure filler). Excessively long death speeches are another bothersome thing. By the time we arrive at a death scene, the audience should already know and feel how much the ML loves the FL. There is no need for a long speech. If we are not convinced by then, a speech won't change that. Save the speech writing for political dramas. The death scenes that haunt me the most are the ones that understand the power of the visual medium. Let the visuals tell the story and convey the emotions. If something must be said, keep it short and impactful. Although the ending of The Double was somewhat open to interpretation, it was nonetheless poetic in nature, deeply moving, and beautiful.

Yes, I often have to remind myself he's technically still up and coming (early in his career). So, he's not just going to be handed the biggest budget dramas. However, he's the type of talent that is difficult to deny. He tends to make the most of any role he's given. The ability to do that is star quality. If the writing is good, he will excel. The only real drag of smaller productions is limited promotion. I've said before, I could easily watch dramas with WXY on a horse where he rides from town to town, kicking butt, and discovering things about himself and the world around. He's one of a small handful of MLs I'd say that about, and he's the top one.

It will be interesting to see what they do. Sometimes it's a good strategy to run similar themed shows b2b (particularly  if the first drama does well) to capitalise on the current audience enthusiasm for such things. Sometimes it doesn't work, and it ends up being too similar too soon. Where it's relegated to the shadows of the first drama. It's a tough call to make. There were rumours of LAC being aired directly after LOZH on Youku. A double dose of historical dramas. But, the rumours proved false. The Cdrama rumour mill has been super annoying this year (a lot of rotten melons). It's actually driving me a little insane 😵‍💫. Lol.

JULY 6th: Not that many reuter clips today, unless it gets posted later. However, we do get a couple of clips…
His lift and carry skills are truly superb. His FL is always safe in his arms. The clip where Ruohan has her hair down while sitting tandem with WXY on horseback. She looks so amazing in that clip. The LIRD bts has been one of the best I've seen in terms of chemistry content.

it could be from TAIWAN... BUT for CHINA i doubt it..
Usually, MDL gets it right. It even separates HK productions. Maybe there are workarounds. But, it seems it won't air in China. Only internationally.

I'm sure it won't impact OG since desire is an international release. I'm pretty sure bl is banned in china sadly.
I understand now. Thank you for explaining 😊. Yes, it is great that there are still avenues to produce these stories and distribute them to a wider audience. Fingers crossed 🤞 for Immortality.
