The romance. Now I can finally say that - nope, I do not "ship it". For me personally the most important part…
It's not like I have to chance my own mindset just because "it's a drama". If I'm gonna waste 16+ hours on my life on it, I'd like to have something meaningful to watch, so I'll take it seriously and do my analysis of the plot and characterizations.
Finally caught up with this drama and judging by how we're already past halfway point, it's safe to say my opinions…
The romance. Now I can finally say that - nope, I do not "ship it". For me personally the most important part of any relationships (friendship or romantic one) is trust. And here it's been broken in a way that, let's face it, there's no repairing it. There was this great dialogue in ep 8 when Ji Won wondered if it would be better to hide the truth and pretend as nothing has happened and her colleague said: "If it were you, would you have been able to live without doubting those (good) memories? Can you confidently say... that you'll never question the sincerity of one's actions?". Because that's the thing. She's been gaslighted since the beginning of the relationship. Hyun Soo even said at the very beginning that he just shows her what she wants to see. Basically their whole "love" is fake. It's all based on manipulation and there's nothing romantic about that. And even if we find out that "oh he actually loves her, plus he didn't kill anyone" - does that even matter? How do you trust you'll never questing the motives of a person who fooled you for 14 years? Is that even possible? I don't know. Maybe for some people. But definitely not for me.
Finally caught up with this drama and judging by how we're already past halfway point, it's safe to say my opinions are already pretty much set. It would take a miracle to change them. On the plus side, we have amazing acting and the FL is one of the best I've seen in a while. After being burned by other recent dramas, her maturity is like a breath of fresh air. On the "I expected more" side, we have police investigations. I remember being excited on the begging as we had new stories each eps, but now it all shifted into one main mystery and, I have to say, I'm already bored with it. I don't see it going into the direction I hoped for - we're just gonna get some answers regarding Do and Baek families and how they're tied together as well as main leads will have to define their relationship. That's all I see. Not sure if I need 6 more eps for that, but hey, maybe it'll surprise me.
I wish I could say this drama is flawless, but the male detective is sooo annoying. Just seeing his face makes…
I'm sorry, but the guy is actually doing his job. Do Hyun Soo is a person wanted for murder, he's a prime suspect who's been in hiding from the law for 18 years. And Cha Ji Won knew about his fake identity (which is a crime of itself) and hid it from everyone, going as far as destroying evidence and putting an ounging investigating in jeopardy. So the detective is in the right by wanting her out of the investigation.
ML/LJG actually plays 2 roles and therefore as Bae HS, he is the loving husband and father, on the other hand…
So true! I'm still two eps behind, but I'm so impressed by her. Even though she was pretty annoying in the flashbacks, but in current time - damn, mad respect.
They will probably sorta restart their relationship. Ji Won fell in love with him long before any of the things…
That's what I think will happen as well. Since it's a kdrama and they need to "sell" romance. I just can't figure out how I feel about the whole thing. So far it just makes me uncomfortable and kinda terrified.
Am I the only one that gets Ted Bundy vibes?I’m on episode 2 and I can’t stop thinking about that....
Not Ted Bundy specifically, but if does pray of my fear of sociopaths. They're just SO GOOD and adapting and the fact that you can't know for sure what hides behind a person's smile truly terrifies me.
It's up to you aha.Honestly we are still unsure of the MLs true feelings and he is still mysterious in someways.…
I remember her saying something like "I'd swallow the pill to postpone the end" in the first eps and I kinda got the idea that this is what might happen. But I guess we'll have to wait and see. I'm enjoying the drama overall but the conflicting emotions I have toward "romance plot" kinda make it a difficult watch.

The amount of deception and manipulation just rubs me the wrong way. I just can't bring myself to root for a relationship based a lie. Even if we get some typical drama revelation like "oh, the love cured him" or whatever - how do you even forgive all the years of basically gaslighting?
I'm a bit late to the party, just finished ep 4. But I do have a question. Do we ship main leads? Do we want them to end up together? Because if so, I don't get it xD
One last point I wanna address before I go. How does the rating system here work? I remember seeing comments stating that 7.5-8 is a "bad rating" but I kinda don't get it? I'm more into school grading system, so if 10-9 is "the best", then 8-7 is "good", 6-5 is "okay", 4-3 "mediocre" and 2-1 "bad". Right?
This drama was full of "why did this happen" and "what was the point of this"I am halfway satisfied with the ending.…
I agree with most of the things you've said. However, I do have a problem when in media they portray the whole "love will cure you" idea. If you establish a character as a psychopath - they can't just "get emotions" or "learn empathy". The whole reason why they get diagnosed is that they physically CAN'T feel those emotions. That just how their brain works. But no, the media LOVES the idea of love curing EVERYTHING. We can argue that here JB wasn't actually a psychopath, but they made a mistake of showing him learning how to fake human emotions for that argument to work. So yeah... there's that. But then again, this drama did a terrible job at decent development - both with the plot and the characters. Things just "happened".
i said in my previous comments that her body will refuse her heart and someone said that it does not make sense…
It still doesn't make sense. Transplant rejection may occur any time from the first week up to 3 months afterward. Not years. What they tried to show us was the fact that her new heart got corrupted. But the whole "I'm gonna sacrifice mine" plot still doesn't make sense since she wasn't in an immediate need of a transplant. The doctor literally said "we're gonna observe if for now and IF it gets worse, then she'll need a transplant". People don't just get one that easily.
Now I can finally say that - nope, I do not "ship it".
