He should absolutely be given some grace because as you said this is his first role and it's far from the cookie cutter fluff characters many tend to start out with. But I think it's also important to distinguish the difference between comments saying he could benefit from improvement vs those straight up calling him a bad actor. I'm sure there are a handful that make up the latter camp however I think most who fall in the former would likely agree that he's not a bad actor but rather feel he isn't as strong of an actor as his peers or as he could be. To straight up reduce him to a bad actor his first time out is no different to me than those proclaiming him to be the best actor to ever act or whatever. Both remarks while contextually at odds are equally exaggerative so I don't take them seriously, but at the same time those who feel either way are equally entitled to their opinions so I respect their stances.

Who is treating it like a fact? As you said, this opinion that he can't act is quite noticeably the minority opinion here so how could that even be construed as fact? It's the minority position lol. But also, neither position is fact, they are both opinions.

My goodness... y'all keep trying to spin this about the character. It's the acting. Period. No one is saying he is so bad of an actor that we can't even get a read on who his character is or what he's about. No, that's not it at all. He is just noticeably weaker in his skill set than the cast around him and needs work emoting. Before you chime back to say it's all part of his character - no need, I've already seen that script.

Interesting. I personally thought they had the most chemistry in the last episode - more so than the NC scene, which I found awkward. But I get what you're saying because in the beginning I thought the seriousness of the story could possibly be weighing them down romance-wise. And I had been told the original source material wasn't romance focused until the end so I was considerate of that too. And because of that I had always maintained that I would look forward to seeing them together in a future project where their characters didn't have so much baggage and whatnot to get a better sense of their chemistry, but I'm becoming less and less interested in doing so for no other reason than the super fans policing innocent opinions.

As for the belittling of intelligence - replying to a comment about his acting being not so good with 'anyone who thinks that about his acting must not understand the character' is what if not blatantly demeaning that person's intelligence?
Yeah, I've noticed that too. I can understand more with social media but yeah, in either case it's overdone and more than anything just unnecessary because they really don't need it! I don't know if you've watched TNP but Zee's face and only Zee's face would be heavily filtered which was ridiculously distracting and again unnecessary. Then there'd be random scenes with heavily blurred backgrounds, almost like a radial blur... like what?! Why?! So perplexing. Whoever is personally responsible for these distracting filters should be replaced!
