I super regretted starting this drama fully knowing about the infidelity which is one of my 2 triggers. This ML is weak, spoilt and extremely dim-witted (even dumber than the ML in Mia Tuean, who is already as dumb as a rock but I gave Mia Tuean an 8 rating at least the ML didn't sleep with another woman) and completely lets himself be led around by the nose by the mistress, who is actually scheming against him. Not only is the ML sleeping with the mistress in every single episode (it is constant, you will see all the disgusting touchy-feely scenes in full view of the FL), he brings the evil mistress back home and lets her have free range of the house, join mealtimes with the family. He even let her invade the FL's room and they slept there IN HER BED to let the FL witness. What a disgusting, selfish asshole. I would have dropped this but the acting and rest of the storyline/characters are actually decent. So be warned - only watch this if you can stomach watching the above antics for every single episode. I am halfway through and want to punch the ML's face constantly.
Ladies, if this is happening in your marriage, divorce the POS and seize half his assets. Your children will thank you for it. Believe me - I had two friends who went through this while they were young (father brought home the mistress parading her in front of their mums) and both friends were bitter and scarred when they spoke about what they saw as kids/teens.
Update: Forced myself to finish. Shouldn't have bothered, ML never made serious reparations for what he put the FL through, in fact he did more for the evil bitch mistress. What a waste of a solid cast. Would have been a 7.5/10 but I am so disgusted I voted 5/10.
Talk about fake kisses, this drama tops any I've ever watched. It's so bad that he rolled his lips into his mouth…
Because there is another way of kissing in Thailand, so subtle that I had completely missed it considering my decent amount of exposure to Thailand and its culture. I had thought the same too. Now that I know, the subtlety (just because its different) is quite sexy:
Hilarious story and script, great chemistry between the main leads. Good acting generally by most actors in the drama. Both ML & FL are adorable together ^-^ I had great fun watching!
If you like Nune in power roles (she does them SO WELL, she is able to wield power aura like a 2nd skin), you will love this show!!!! Lots of push & pull with ML. I adore a powerful FL.
ML isn't despicable (at least not in my books - infidelity and hitting the FL are my personal triggers) and the ML struggled with his strong attraction to the FL vs his family loyalty. Emotional entanglement between the leads happened very early and persisted throughout the show. All these factors combined = 10/10 rating for me.
Depending which FL you are rooting for - if its Khun Ja, be warned that the bulk of the emotional development between the ML and Ja happens after three quarters of the way through. Too little. If you find this frustrating (I do, I like emotional interactions to begin by 1/3 of the way through), recommend to skip this drama.
I think I would have stayed with Sahat instead, he loved the FL and was willing to sacrifice his own happiness for hers. Btw Louis Scott was so young and good looking here! With beautiful hair lol
Mek is adorable and he will steal your heart <3 Unfortunately viewers, he is not really the ML (half a ML I guess) and his presence decreases as the drama progresses T.T
Ubathteehet was not great imo. You can look at my lakorn list to see it's not high on my ratings. Only lakorns…
Yes, ah so Ubathteehet was the drama. Yeah for me, my main triggers are infidelity and hitting the FL. I found out a third trigger, which I didn't realise I had - ML kidnapping their child. It was from a popular lakorn so I guess this trigger was not a major one for many viewers. I had a friend who was potentially facing this threat where she may lose custody of her child (not likely but a possibility only) and this coloured my reaction.
Btw do not watch Pitsawat then. Pong is one of my favourite actors and yet I still CANNOT forgive what his character did. Its been weeks and thinking about it still cause anger and grief.
Not tome. I'm loving it. I don't find it draggy at all. I guess it just not for everyone.
Yes everyone has different preferences and sees it differently. For me, before Ep 11, the emotional development of the 1st ML was more on his internal struggle as his life hits rock bottom, and he grapples with the challenges and multi-faceted moral dilemmas of his situation. This never let up and reached climax at the end (nice).
Before Ep 11, the 1st ML's emotions towards Jinny was heavily suppressed, understandably since she was not even his GF. So we don't get to see any kind of intense pull push between him and Jinny (what is there is subtle and gradual). At this point, out of the 4 MLs and FLs only Jinny was the most unrestraint and emotionally available to the audience because she fell in love with the ML along the way.
Before Ep 11, the 2nd ML committed too many misdeeds and have not started on his redemption. So it was a little hard for the audience to sympathise and engage with him.
The biggest miss imo was the 2nd FL character - she was not even relatable until the last 2-3 episodes. The flashbacks showing her relationship (with her Dad) which made her more human was only revealed at this late stage, which was a puzzling and regrettable decision on the director/scriptwriter's part. ** A separate gripe here, why are scientists/researchers always portrayed in such an unpalatable/anal/cold way eg. 2nd ML in Pitsawat.
Above was my reading of how the various emotional developments unfolded. But like you said, we all have our different styles and different tastes :))
Not tome. I'm loving it. I don't find it draggy at all. I guess it just not for everyone.
I always want to see strong emotional (push pull) engagement between the main leads by at least 1/3 of the way thru the drama eg. Jark Sadtroo Soo Hua Jai, Kleun Cheewit, Suparburoot Jorm Jon: Maturot Lohgan. Anything slow burn emotionally is not my cup of tea. For this drama, what I am looking for only takes off around Ep 11 and in full swing from Ep 13. Too late for me.
It is true typically dramas peaks have strong starts or peaks halfway and goes downhill as the series progresses, which sucks too. If the scriptwriting and directing were tweaked for this drama, it would have stronger. The MLs development, esp the 2nd ML, were good.
I watched till Ep 10-11 when I realised why this show didn't score higher than 7.5. Felt like giving the ML a few good tight slaps up and down, made me so mad. Even Kitkong's dimples couldn't save the ML character.
I almost dropped the show at the SECOND LAST EPISODE because of what the ML character did. I had thought I only had 2 major triggers for ML characters - infidelity and beating up the FL but gosh, I discovered a third trigger, which is what this ML did in Ep 15. I had a friend who was potentially facing the same situation (in her case, her husband cheated for real) and I could feel her anxiety regarding her child.
Forcing myself to finish to show. Omg this ML pissed me off me big time, what a jerk. After 35 lakorns with majority of them slap kiss dramas, this ML character is on my top 3 list of most disappointing MLs.
To be fair there are probably only a couple of actors (Ken Theeradej, Pong Nawat, Mik thongraya) who can carry off the ML character without me wanting to punch his lights out.
Giving this 6.5/10 for the progressively disappointing ML character development, what a let down this show had been.
One of the last Lakorns I completed was "Ubathteehet" back in 2012 (I completed another vampire romance so quite…
Ubathteehet was not great imo. You can look at my lakorn list to see it's not high on my ratings. Only lakorns that I have rated higher than 8/8.5 are worth watching for one reason or another and Ubathteehet is definitely not one of them. I definitely enjoyed Jark Sadtroo Soo Hua Jai, its high on my list. In fact, I have two favourite lakorn ML characters and the ML in Jark Sadtroo Soo Hua Jai is one of the two :)
Having watched quite a number of lakorns to date, I declare this to be the most adorable and charming ML & FL couple in lakornland I have came across - this couple is screen gold!
I watched the show solely for the adorable interaction and SIZZLING chemistry between the ML & FL. I am not a huge fan of mafia/police/rural based dramas so I may not have continued if not for the ML & FL. But the main leads lit up the screen every time they are together, whoooaaaaaa they are ON FIRE!!!!!!! They totally carried the show from start to end! The skinship was temperature-raising with real kisses, the dialogue between the ML & FL well-written, the actors felt so natural together and acted their roles soooo well that I even began to suspect if they had a real life relationship during the filming lol - a pleasure to have a lakorn where the screenplay and main leads did justice to one another!! The stars aligned for this one! <3 <3
(A quick aside - the last time I had wondered about a screen couple was Hyun Bin's reaction in a particular love scene in CLOY. This was before I know of the rumours of their relationship. Later, I discovered many other viewers spotted what I had spotted :)
Btw I have never watched either main lead actors before this drama, so I was unbiased and now I am a fan. I came to this series recently from Jark Sadtroo Soo Hua Jai. Both Suparburoot Jorm Jon: Maturot Lohgan and Jark Sadtroo Soo Hua Jai have wonderful MLs that would do anything for their FLs; both male leads are extremely intelligent, drop-dead gorgeous, capable and would lay down their lives for the FLs. Both MLs came from the wrong side of the law yet are not morally dubious (at least in my books). Frankly it is a relief to have respite from stupid MLs in lakornland.
Believe the reviewer who said first half of this show is draggy. I must be one of the few handfuls who felt badly let down after the number of enthusiastic reviews. A real pity because the storyline was interesting while the acting from the two male leads was good.
My main issue is that none of the main characters were emotionally engaged enough with each partner, or the audience until very late in the series (after Ep13 for me). I blame the scriptwriters for this unbalanced emotional development and depth. So bad that I FF'ed at high speed until Ep 11 (seriously wanted to drop it). As many reviewers have mentioned, the FL Jinny is indeed the character who was the most emotionally available AND STILL I found her to be loud and annoying until after Ep 7 when she cried ( after this episode she gradually stopped yelling like an auntie vegetable seller from the market).
The 2nd FL by actress Bua was an unengaging character for the bulk of the show - she wasn't hateful but she wasn't particularly relatable/appealing either, even after the emotional events in Ep13 (Ep13 did more for the flawed 2nd ML than for her tbh). I can sympathise with her situation rationally but not emotionally. You have to wait until the final couple of episodes to feel something for the 2nd FL. Again this was how her character was written.
Only 7.5/10 for me. A pity because this show could have easily done better to reach a 8.5 or 9. Watch if you are a fan of the main leads or don't mind a VERY slow "start". P.S/ If there is any consolation, the last few episodes are great and the ending, for once in a lakorn, is not rushed and properly fleshed out.
I am impressed. I was completely unprepared for how good this was. With one of the smartest ML ever written in lakorn land. FL has character development, we may not agree with her methods regarding her younger sister but placed in her shoes, we can see why she took those actions.
In this lakorn, many characters are well-written and multi-faceted. Typically for many lakorns I will FF when its not featuring the ML & FL especially as the drama unfolds but loses steam. In this I found myself slowing down to 1x speed after Ep11 because the events were griping enough that I didn't want to speed through it. Almost never happen unless its a small handful of the top lakorns for me.
