I’ve read 4 chapters so far and really enjoy the novel.

My understanding is that XY’s mother tortured him & chopped his tail and gave it to XY as a rare present when she was little. XY in turn gave it to CY before she left to the mountain.

I understand from people who read the novel that he was drugged by the fiancée to make him believe that he impregnated her so XY also misunderstood the situation and cut her ties with him. The reality is that she had an affair with his brother and the baby is with his brother and not Jing. Please feel free to correct me.

I hope he regrets for manhandling XY LOL.

They got back together after 10 years of separation in ep 25. They had a short argument in ep35 and got back together again afterwards.

Right, there were some smiles at the dinner’s table and mother’s acceptance of XQ’s wedding LOL. This mother is a piece of work and it was nice to see MYC, the friend having a meal with XQ & SY.

Fully agreed, I couldn’t have said it better myself. He does have kinder heart towards both children but it is a bit too late for their children’s mental health. What I find it weird is how could a woman be so cold and so controlling of her own children and every family’s meal is like torture for both XQ & MYC. Could the mother not realise that was not family’s meal and question herself that there are many issues in her family? I fault the father for not stepping in and tell her to back off. She is lucky that both children did not resort to extreme decisions to end their lives due to social, family pressures. We all know ourselves that the more the parents are suppressing their children, the more the children will revolt and go the other way.

I do think the father is too weak and has allowed his wife to make so many wicked and damaging decisions on their children and businesses. Her coldnesses, lack of empathy towards human beings are unbearable. She views her own children as toys and uses them as pawn.

I have not watched the TV version, is it the same as the movie?

Off topic, for Chinese fans in this drama, has anyone watched "Creation of Gods" 封神第一部 ? The movie is based on the classic fantasy novel "Investiture of the Gods" about the overthrow of the 1st Imperial Dynasty of China: Shang Dynasty, in 1046 BCE. The movie looks good, hopefully it will be on Tecent, YOUKU or something.

Hopefully, they will release the last 8 episodes together. Fingers crossed.
