Honestly it doesn't surprise me. Ian never wanted the throne for himself. The throne made his childhood terrible, it snatched away his family, it costed him his freedom. Not even once I felt Ian was genuinely interested for the throne. So him giving it away and finally getting to live his life is a good thing. Now his children, his nephew, their families will not have to suffer anymore for this stupid throne, which has no real power but is just a status symbol. This was also one of my theories, so I am glad something worked according to me finally. But what was poor was the execution. The drama had to show Ian's planning about the abolishment at least two episodes before. No maybe not a dialogue, but things he does, indirect hints. This feels very sudden, out of the blue, as if a certain subplot was introduced in the second last episode. Also I kind of get the entire thing, that now the entire struggle feels kind of vain. But maybe this is what Ian truly seek for himself and his family. My point though is, we should have a conversation between Huiju and Ian, where Huiju actually supports Ian's abolishing the crown, considering she married him initially only for status. Yes they are in love now, abolishing crown would mean abolishing status for everyone, so there wouldn't be any class difference to begin with (except monetarily). Maybe they had a conversation and they would show it today in flashback or something. I have no problem with the abolishing the crown, but the execution was poor. In my vision, Ian should have been the king for 1-2 years doing necessary changes, wait for the next elections for the downfall of PM, or let people know what PM actually did, get him suspended, then slowly steadily use PR to make people understand that Crown, status are all unnecessary and then abolish it. The people's verdict should be important. Also I would have been glad if we could see Ian and Huiju acting as King and Queen for a little time after facing so much trouble. Because this is the second last episode, they needed to start wrapping up, instead starting a subplot, kind of feels messy. Maybe a 16 episode or 14 episode duration could have been better during this time.
Also I don't know who thinks the acting is bad. Because it is pretty much the actors who are pulling the show. The plot went downhill from episode 7-8. The actors, the four of them are carrying the show. This actually made me realize how nonsensical these awards shows are, no way this trash script was an award winning one.
It had a great premise. But the writing later, went downhill. The direction too. We are not given pov for the PM and there are many unanswered questions after episode 11.
But I will still love it forever. The budget, the visuals, the actors, the fashion, the chemistry of the leads and even the villains, everything was great. The initial 5 episodes were lovely. The waltz scene, the yacht scene would be so memorable to me. I watched the show for BWS, IU and Steve Noh, but I think Seung Yeon was the best of all. This is her first work I have seen, and she deserves so much more. The cast was really precious to me. IU BWS I love you so much, Huiju and Ian were such a power couple. Steve Noh, I have qualms regarding your character, but I love you so much.
Now only 1 episode left. This was my comeback to kdramas after long and I loved all the memories here. Finale and IU day together! Yup let's do it.
I am such a sucker for reincarnation plots. I just thought it was a time travel show when I saw the teaser, but the entire "we separated 300 years back, and reunite now because we are fated together" trope, is so good. For sure I have seen dramas with this trope, but I will see 1000s more if the execution is as good as this one. The past mystery, their memories coming back, real Seori's soul all intrigue me so much.
I hoped him being a good person, the entire thing being a plot twist till episode 10. I am not very sure now.…
But wouldn't he get to surpass his father if he is able to rule the country without interference from the crown. I think no one benefits more than him if the abolishmnet goes through. You may be right but hopefully we can get his perspective too shown.
I had the distinct impression that, unlike Seo-ri and Se-gye, Mun-do remembers his past - and he remembers how…
Honestly I forgot her name was Dam-sin, I just remember Seori now. But yes that's a mystery. I think there is a reason they did not let us here her name, first scene it was interrupted, second scene they muted it. There is something to it definitely. But yes I agree to that. SML will probably accept his past life before ML does, considering their personalities.
Same. This was my biggest concern. But there is no twist. Everything is really simple.
I want to know who actually killed ML's mother and brother. A backstory of PM and his actual intention, his current thoughts. Does he really think if Ian dies, he would get Huiju? Also why is he against the dissolvement of the monarchy, considering he will gain the most power if that happens. I also wish to see a happy ending of the leads. Despite the criticisms I have about the drama, I look forward to these things in the last episode.
its still doesnt make sense that min will betray his friends like that... only cuz of unrequired luv.. did he…
I hoped him being a good person, the entire thing being a plot twist till episode 10. I am not very sure now. You make absolute sense though. Also what would he loose if monarchy gets dissolved? I thought he will gain more power considering he is the prime minister. We need the back story of PM and his thoughts currently for a better understanding of his character in the last episode.
There are people who do not drop a drama easily, especially after watching 9-10 episodes. They started it with…
Exactly. The same happened with Dynamite Kiss as well, started off very fine, but did not end well. I still love this drama for all its good things, memories I have. I don't even consider it a time waste, I enjoyed those moments. I still love the acting, the visuals, the actors, the fashion. But the plot seems to have crumbled down since episode 7-8. It became repetitive and a little boring. But I want to see it to the end. That's why I have continued. I still had hope it would get better in the end. I won't lie I still have a little hope for the last episode. But valid criticisms without hate should always be made, I believe.
Lee Ung Jae. Yeah he was in Study Group, Genie Make a wish, Dear X.
He was in guest roles there, no prominent role. Even I felt I saw him somewhere. I saw Genie, so maybe I saw him in a passing role there, that's why I seem to remember his face. The physique is changing rapidly, as he is a teenager.
1. When he carried her and left her in the bench.2. When he said she was really bossy when they were having food…
True. I am sure she might reject him true when she is in love, possible for once or twice. A typical cliche. But I love the momentum here, where she is broke, and she has no issues in using him for her benefit. I am like finally a clever FL.
Reading people complain that they’re still watching a drama they don’t even like is hilarious. The exit button…
There are people who do not drop a drama easily, especially after watching 9-10 episodes. They started it with enthusiasm and they seek to see its end. When a person gives their time to watch it, they have right to make valid criticisms to it. Not everyone drops a drama when only 1 episode is left. I am also speaking for myself. I don't drop dramas this easily. I have given my time, defended it and loved it. Hence people like me have the right to make valid criticisms to it. The forum is not only for making praises.
I had the distinct impression that, unlike Seo-ri and Se-gye, Mun-do remembers his past - and he remembers how…
I don't think he remembers. I think when he hears his brother speak to the therapist about his dreams involving FL 300 years back, then Mun do will realize. This is because he placed a recorder in the indoor plant he gifted to the therapist. We were shown he is listening to ML's conversations with the therapist. So I think he will remember them as ML remembers them.
It's his mask which can't make her remember him yet.
Don't make me miss POJ. June has a lot of dramas, so I will not get any time to rewatch the old ones lol, maybe I should rewatch my fav dramas this month.
