I know this is a rom com so generally no such plot twists. But I thought it was too easy. They did not try to…
Don't mind me, my plot has 100 loopholes. Its just that after watching thrillers, anything that straight way serves me in a plate, makes me doubt it. Especially after that cute guy being villain in Vincenzo, that traumatized me. But about the ML's brother's killing. I highly doubt the fire lit by the Queen lead to the death of him, it was just a small paper, there was someone else who actually lit the whole residence. I think they just showed us that to doubt the queen. Its possible she told her father about King leaving the throne, and her father doing that though or Min family.
I know this is a rom com so generally no such plot twists. But I thought it was too easy. They did not try to hide it at all. We all despise Jin Mu's character, hence conveniently placing him as a villain from the very first is something we would easily buy. I mean isn't it really strange they did not try to hide anything. Jin Mu and Queen discussing what to do, Jin Mu saying if something happens it would be hardly a surprise, and then the car fiasco. But what if its not him. Yes the family might be power hungry, but they really need the Regent. Is ML so dumb that he wouldn't trace back anything to them if something happens to FL. The king is too young, I don't think Queen can really do all works and take all responsibility as well.
But who actually benefits? In a constitutional monarchy, who fears power in the monarchy the most? Its the elected leaders. Steve Noh's character's family has been involved in generational politics. He has been trained to do this. What if it was them who killed ML's mother maybe because she was getting too much power/love and fear a monarchial takedown. Same for ML's brother's death. We all know ML's brother wanted to give away the throne, if that happened, the throne would go to ML, who is not at all timid but powerful and talented. That is why SML's family killed ML's brother before he could pass the throne to his brother, because if a king dies his son would be the next king not brother, and its easier to control a 8 year old child.
Steve Noh I really didn't want to doubt your character. But during a rewatch you saying to the Nanny only if there was an age limit for the king, and she looking at you weirdly, made me doubt you. Plus your character being too smart adds to everything.
Now this far stretched. A rom com might be be straight forward especially because in the trailer we saw ML choking Jin Mu. But its making me wonder what if everything is a ruse. Ahh maybe I am overthinking.
Umm, you are right with your perspective. Just one thing, SML is not only the Prime Minister of the country who…
No no absolutely not, you have complete right to make a constructive criticism towards something you are spending time to watch, its completely valid. But my hope is also for another reason, that's because SML being Steve Noh. He is really famous, I don't think he would have taken a role where he is just a simp. I think the character has something to offer, for Steve Noh to take it. Now it can be evil/positive, but I think all of us don't want to spend time on a stupid love triangle. So hopefully this angle ends by ep 5-6, as per teasers, and later we see the character focusing on his goal be it positive or negative, but leave the love angle out of it.
But you made a valid point as I said before, in fact this drama is my return to kdramas after few months, and I really hope its not the one where they make SML have nothing to do except being a simp for FL. Ahh, keeping our hopes alive. Because trust me even without this angle SML can do a lot more.
Umm, you are right with your perspective. Just one thing, SML is not only the Prime Minister of the country who…
I agree. But its like I expect such stuff. This is cliche, rom com kdramas always are cliches. But its nice for a relaxing watch, so I don't mind, unless they actually overuse the SML plot being a simp. Likewise, I guess all viewers want to move on from this- a 10-20 year old love with no confession but sudden motivation due to an external factor (ML), but kdrama writers still want to use it. Its okay, I am willing to believe they won't do it bad, keeping my hopes high.
I can understand the king being young given the situation but isn’t the prime minister a bit too young as well?
Hahaha, umm depends. In my country, anyone above 25 years of age can be the Prime Minister if elected democratically. But most of the times this doesn't happen, or we tend to see at least a middle aged man/woman as PM if not old. This is because this is not a family affair, anyone can be that, and people generally age before reaching such a high position.
But in this case, its different. In this fictional town. SML is born into a noble dynasty who have been into politics of the country since generations. SML must have been taught to take this position since childhood, just like Queen Mother. Like they are brought up in such ways.
On a side note, because this is a constitutional monarchial drama, giving SML a powerful position is ought to be correct. They have to show a perfect SML powerful, rich, handsome to compete with the ML, to create a kind of "second lead syndrome" if any.
imagine if donkeys could make 1 drama no matter if it's purely romance, comedy or romantic drama, but just imagine…
Umm, you are right with your perspective. Just one thing, SML is not only the Prime Minister of the country who took the King to Grand Prince's house, hence followed the order, because King told him to do that. Secondly, he and the ML are friends, so I guess no guards of Grand Prince would refuse him especially when he is entering with the King.
Lastly I agree such a overused plot. This one had the scope to show that the SML is not in love with FL, he is friends with both, even without him falling for FL, he could be an important character, helping them, managing the country etc. Platonic friendships between opposite genders is such an underrated concept in dramas, I wish they use it often. I just hope he doesn't turn evil, and quickly understands everything cause I really like the actor.
Did you miss the scene where the King threw a tantrum asking for that. Did you miss everyone trying to convince…
I realized later, its not a criticism directed towards the drama. The person has actually rated this drama 1 star after seeing 4 episodes, so its a hater actually.
The woman who is friends with FL's sister in law, who kind of mocked her about marrying for love, that girl is Dayoung? The same girl Queen Mother tried to introduce to ML, but got rejected. This is interconnected. I think we would get to see more of this. https://x.com/miraliyana/status/2045803092596465898?s=20
Did he lose the chess match intentionally (out of habit), or is the minister really that good?
That's a nice take on it. Makes me wonder too. But I think they weren't pretending at that time, considering they are friends, so the Minister ought to be really good in the game.
