No absolutely not. Qi Min is the first person to understand that ML was in town, he is the only one who recognized him. The grains had been bought by from farmers way earlier, by the Sui people. Qi Min never said anything to his father or younger brother, because Qi Min has his secret identity and his own goals. He was even ready to give those grains to ML, if ML would support him. Alas, ML was far more clever and took away the grains without the deal with him.
But no, it was not for revenge. Prince Changxin and Suis had targeted Linan town and decided that the rebel and chaos against the royal regime, would start from there. ML protected the town. Qi Min was already at Linzhou by then, Prince Changxin was not there, ML thought Sui Yuanqing was dead after his arrow hit him and he fell from the cliff. ML never realized he would be alive and would come back to massacre the town.
ML always wanted to protect the town, that is why he told Li Huai An to kill Sui soldiers nearby. That is why ML's men captured the grains back from Qi Min's men.

Saying he is the reason of the massacre, I think is not entirely correct. Considering how he helped to control the rebels/protesters from entering the town, otherwise it would have been massacred way before. That was the initial plan, Sui soldiers mixed with protesters, they wanted to enter, and Constable wang was not able to control it. ML helped stabilize the situation, took away the grain from Qi Min's people and returned the grains to the farmers.
Also not to forget how FL kidnapped and slapped Sui Yuanqing making him angry. Sui Yuanqing was searching for FL killing people in Linan town. Though he doubted there was a connection between ML and FL, but he didn't know she was his wife before seeing their portrait in the house. It was FL whom he was searching because she hurt his ego.
So blaming the massacre alone to ML, I feel is not correct.

I agree this was easier and less time consuming. But that one was too cool, the sequence was written nice, these things would also have added how she is brilliant in leading a troop defeating enemies, even raiding. Adds to her upcoming general persona.
But ig they do not have enough time for this, like this couldn't have been done in half an episode, so.

In the novel, there was no punishment. Firstly FL did not use Sui Yuanqing as a bait there. She hunted a bear, went to enemy camps with soldiers, defeated few of them, looted salt, meat, etc like a bandit. It was really cool.
Because she was not officially part of the military, hence she was not bound to follow their rules. But she put in risk her and many other soldier's lives, who had to follow her and carry out her orders. This was unauthorized, so ML berated her personally. She understood her mistake, and Gongsun made ML realize that though the move was reckless and she could have been hurt, nothing bad actually happened. So both of them apologized to each other.

There are people who are saying that Wei Yan could know, enemies could know, she would be in danger. I mean everyone in the world knows, even mountains and rivers in Switzerland know by now that Changyu is Marquis's wife. If Wei Yan doesn't know then his spies are the dumbest people in the world. I just think its an excuse used by ML.
She has been more in danger due to the fact that she doesn't know the truth.

Same. I do like green flag coded guys in dramas. But these days we have enough of them. So Xie Zheng was never hated by me, he just had flaws. Its a character, he is not perfect, has flaws so what, doesn't mean he cannot truly love FL.

This trope is really weird, I mean thrash the ML to guilt trip FL? What, lol. I mean I don't know if Xie Zheng will get those 20 lashes or not, but soon there will be 108 lashes, poor ML he will be injured for more than 3/4th of the drama.
In the novel, after the 108 lashes, there were 50-55 episodes remaining, where he did not get injured so much, but in the drama, he is injured most of the times.

Lol right, man has barely any space in his back where there is no injury mark.

I did not see that drama, but I saw edits, is it that scene where ML gets lashed, in front of the Emperor and Queen, and FL runs to him and cries?

Yup, exactly. This is it.

Insecurity. He is afraid that he has lied her for so long, so now hearing the truth she might leave him. So he delays it as much as he can.
He also doubts that she might be in love with the poor sweet boy whom she saved in the snow, who was her matrilocal husband, Yan Zheng. He feared she will never love the real powerful scheming Marquis Xie Zheng.
This is my understanding of all the indications in the novel.
