They could date start businesses do anything they liked. It was their choice. Again on a serious note, I don't know how much feasible this option was, because historically a removed concubine had nowhere to go, she usually wouldn't be accepted in her matrimonial home, she for sure couldn't marry someone else. But because this was a fun novel, they wanted to showcase how FL had motivated them to not live a dull life wanting attention from one man, but do something fruitful. This was showacased a modern positive thing.
When that slave/criminal in the ending of the episode 24, went on and on about how great the fake deity was, it was so irritating! She made my blood boil! They actually show how superstitions make people stupid, these people actually lost their sanity!

Dan has been poisoned since childhood, even recently as well. Though the physician said the poisons are healing, since childhood he has terrible headaches. He looses control, has outbursts! Its like a split personality. I think he was fine with FL but when she is in danger, his split personality gets triggered. Just like we saw when he told to bury secret guards for failing to protect FL, and locking her in her chamber. Like he strangled his son at the end of the episode. He sometimes looses control and he was hiding this from FL. So because he looses control he was tied before so that he doesn't harm himself or others.
