You've no idea how grateful I am that this drama chose to use the 'chubby' (for want of a better word) couple to be the third romantic lead in the series. Usually C-drama chooses the slimmest, best looking (by modern standards) actors to play romantic couple. But this couple is so real, it just shows that everyone can fall in love and find someone else attractive, regardless of their size and shape. They can fall in love and be the perfect partner for another person. Another reason why this drama appeals so much to me. I really love this couple!

Leads chemistry is on fire. Really, really hot and scorching, and it has been that way since the first time they met onscreen. My opinion of course. Chemistry is highly viewer subjective so other people's opinions may differ. But if you're looking for 'romantic scenes' where the lead couple does more than hug - then they certainly have that!

Kang Ha Neul is woefully miscast. He's a talented actor, but his attempt at playing Chaebol simply makes him look and seem like a greasy car salesman. Not a good fit for him at all.

You are right. I agree with your take on this. Yi Young and Sa bi are very different. And given Sa bu’s lack of empathy and very poorly developed EQ, I’m not surprised she has very little self awareness.

I ask that question myself. I’m kind of irritated cause he’s blowing hot and cold. Giving my girl mixed signals.

If he knows he doesn’t like her that way, then why bring it up? Even jokingly. But always shoots her down when she’s getting hopeful. It’s this passive aggressive thing that I find to be a bit annoying..,

Yeah. I personally found it less enjoyable. It had none of the charm of S1. Storyline seemed all over the place. I had to fast forward during some fight scenes in the latter episodes.

Wow! Don’t you guys like the symbolically disguised sad ending. Designed as a happy ending for the less discerning viewers like me. On my first watch, I didn’t realize that Yuchi was standing with the dead until I read an article pointing this out. As I wondered why they chose to end the drama with a firework scene of both the living and dead family members. I guess it’s their way of saying that the dead were honored while the living were out celebrating the new year? So sad but consistent. In keeping with this wonderfully unique drama!

Gosh ML is nasty, a piece of work. FL seems to be attracted to men who destroy her. One of them destroyed her heart and the other destroyed her life. I don’t think either is better and to be honest she needs to stay far away from both trash men. Karma is an equalizer, and life is a leveller. Without lifting a finger, FL was able to witness justice being served on her behalf:

2ML destroyed the marriage he betrayed her for with his own hands. He drove away his wife, because emotionally he was still in love with FL. And he married a woman who will never become a part of his family. She couldn’t even come to his father’s funeral. I bet she has no dealings with his mom or his brother. He will have to wear a mask for the rest of his marital life. And he has to pretend that he’s married after his marriage fizzled out after a year! Karma doesn’t get better than this.

2ML’s ex-wife unknowingly ‘stole’ a man who belonged to another woman. She doesn’t get to ride into the sunset happily. She experienced the pain of loving a man, and being married to a man who was in love with someone else. And their marriage ended a year later..

ML was the creator of a nefarious plot to isolate and ostracize an innocent woman by blacklisting her, just so he can avoid a lawsuit. Many years later he meets and falls in love with the victim of his plot. He gets to see life through her perspective and is completely broken and torn up about the pain he inflicted on a woman who now means the world to him.

Sometimes the best vengeance is moving on with our lives and live our lives as happily as we can. FL could not have picked a better revenge had she done it herself. I’m a firm believer that we reap what we sow and everyone will be held accountable for our actions one way or another. There’s only one person who seems to have gotten away Scot’s free, and that is the Chairman’s secretary who told ML to deal with FL.

Yeah, well, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

I hope she whips him. Literally. It might be the saving of him to marry a woman who can physically beat him up. If the genre were comedy, I can see the makings of another fun story!

I have the same reaction as you. I went to check to be sure that there was some ‘romance’ in this drama. So far I haven’t seen any. If anything the Girl Love in this drama is stronger than any opposite sex relationship. If I didn’t know better, I’d say the plot was written by a misanthrope. Most of the women are good, virtuous an even the villains have redeeming qualities; but there’s very little good things to say about the men in this drama. Even the ML. What a role reversal indeed!

I’ve watched up to episode 23 and my question is, will there ever be any affection between the couple, or will they always be antagonists?. The FL isn’t your average everyday FL who falls in love despite her quest for vengeance. Here she’s so blood thirsty and business minded. It makes me wonder if the couple will ever display affection for each other even though I know they care for each other a lot.

She has very strong chemistry with her female co-stars as well. The tension between her and her bestie swordswoman is palpable, if I didn't know better, I would have thought they were lovers. She has equally strong chemistry with the actress who plays her mom. I'm glad that Chen Duling has such a strong supporting cast as they really help her shine.

The way she smiled at him gets me every time I watch this scene. It’s like she knows she has power over him and his affections and she is REVELLING in it!

She’s playing a starved and abused character. It’s in line with the plot that she looks emancipated.

Yes, that’s so true. As a viewer, I feel that he has loved her since ep 1. He has been protecting her in his own way, since he met her. And not only is he interested in her and wants her to trust him, he’s also jealous at the possibility that another man would show an interest in her.

Love the gothic vibes of this drama!
