I feel both of them are too hurt to notice each others feelings, haein seems to be unaware of his thoughts(screaming…
The cracks in their marriage was exacerbated by the loss of their child. Him running around screaming like crazy was the realization that the could not get away from Hae-in's crazy family if she survives her brain cancer. He doesn't want her dead, he just wants to be free, and not really of her, he wants to be free of her family. I respect people's cultures a lot, but I would never recommend that a married couple lives with their extended family members especially if they are newly weds and have not yet solidified their communication and their bond. Hae-in is not confident enough to challenge her father/grand-father and even her mother's attitudes to her husband openly. She can only do damage control from the sidelines.

Majority of these problems wouldn't exist if they lived apart from her family. She is wealthy enough, I don't understand why she doesn't just get an apartment outside, she can certainly afford it. Unless she likes the perks of living with her family and the fact that she can keep an eye on them and not be left out of the loop.

I even feel bad for Hae-In's sister in law. That woman is wearing a lot of masks to accommodate her stupid husband and her demanding in-laws. I bet, she too, would prefer to live somewhere else. I wonder when she will grow tired of pretending and let her true nature show.

I get why he wanted a divorce he doesn’t deserve how his wife and her family treat him smsh
I notice they have begun to treat him a little better since he saved their little girl. The father giving him the pheasant leg and patting his shoulder was hilarious!

The death of a baby or a miscarriage can be traumatic on a marriage if communications after the event isn’t handled properly. I say this from witnessing real life events. I’ve seen a married couple literally at each other’s throats after a planned abortion (for medical reasons) because they played the blame game after it happened, and grieved separately. It’s most likely Hae In has a lot of self hatred and loathing after she lost the baby, which she might have directed internally within herself; leading to an emotional shutdown and burying herself in her work, instead of grieving with her husband. It looks like they stopped communicating and sleeping together and he moved into the room originally meant for his child. Sad. I’m also suspecting it’s added to the grief and guilt she retains from losing her brother, and that’s why she mostly hesitates to tell her family she’s dying so as not to alarm them.

Welll.... i hope I'm not the only one who feels back for Yi Zhi Hua🫣....His story is kinda sad👇https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMMM4yJsV/
His story is very sad. Although he did criminal acts, he actually helped the team many times by spoon feeding them clues from the case.

So is this going down the route of the ML falling back in love with her after finding out she’s sick? Not sure…
It's pretty obvious to me that he is totally crazy about his wife, but put off by her cold attitude and her family's stressful behavior. The amount of stress he was going through was insane, so much that he would even risk his future by getting divorced from her and her family. Only to find out that he doesn't need to, there's an out by way of his wife's illness. So I don't blame him for his first reaction being relief that he doesn't have to deal with his crazy father in law stabbing him in the back. He hasn't yet processed what it means to live without the woman he loves. Then he starts being nice to her again, and suddenly the lines between pretense and reality become blurrier.

He cared enough about her to defend her from her mother when she was trembling in front of her family, cared enough to win his case swiftly just so he could show up by his wife's side when she asked for him to be present, cared enough to feel jealousy when his wife's ex was flirting with her and getting territorial. Cared enough to warn his rival not to try anything with his wife, and cared enough to step in front of his wife to shoot the boar head on when his wife was in danger. These are not actions of a man who wants his wife to die an doesn't care about her. Human beings are layered and complex creatures. I am so glad that they are showing the nuances and complexity in this drama. A person's motivations can be neither black nor white, just shades and layers of gray. He can be deeply in love with his wife, and still be relieved at the thought that he doesn't have to deal with her and her family's crap anymore. Human beings are not evil or good, just shades of both.

What impressed me is that she didn't even care he was a cat.
This is probably true. It's suspicious that she keeps looking younger but the drama didn't dwell on that. It's also suspicious how they NEVER showed her face. Not even once. They filmed her up to her neck but never her face. Makes me wonder if they are planning a second season that would dwell on the secrets of the empress.

RANDOM THOUGHTS

I finally understood why Li Bing's coloring was so different from YZH. It's because his hair turned white from grief before he was converted to a cat - so as a cat, he's a white cat with golden eyes.

YZH is a red cat with green eyes because his hair is reddish.

Also, YZH's obsession with plucking out teeth stemmed from his encounters with Qiu Qing Zhi - when QQZ bound him and plucked out his teeth.

I also understood why QQZ was the only person YZH feared, because QQZ seemed to be the only person who didn't fear him and had already captured him. The last few episodes explained so much.

I'm so devastated that QQZ died but I understand why he chose to die and not become dependent on YZH's blood. He's an honest man who didn't want to become a monster like the people he was trying to take down, but it breaks my heart regardless.

What really hurts me is that Li Bing mostly misunderstood him for most of the drama and that they only reconciled as QQZ was dying. QQZ cherished him, looked out for him and wanted the best for him. And Li Bing could only appreciate that after he got the full story as QQZ lay dying. I wish the drama was written differently and that QQZ survived at the end - that's my one regret for the whole drama.

I must say the body count for this drama was so high - people I didn't expect to die that did were Shanguan Qin's father, Hu Si (her beloved guard), QQZ and Chen Shi's brother (I think I would have preferred life imprisonment for Chen Shi's ge than his death but I understood why he had to die).

While I think this would be adorable...probably closer to HW not wanting to kill animals for no reason lol.
I think it’s both, particularly the latter. HW was warning him to stay away from his wife. Pure and simple. They both understood the message. HW is territorial about his wife and deeply in love with her regardless of what he thinks, and what anybody says. And she loves him. Trust might’ve been low because of their communication issues and her family; but love is still there.

However, love is not enough to keep a marriage going that’s why they’re falling apart.

I love the chaos in this drama. That memorial scene had me laughing out loud haha. I've read comments about how…
Hmmm agree with you. It’s clear to me that the wife loves her husband. The scene where she ‘beats’ her brother up warning him to be polite to her husband was the clincher for me. It shows me that while she will not flout her parents rules or openly disrespect her family, she will go out of her way to make life comfortable for him when she can.

Thing is, she has always been a diva, and her personality is cold. That was what attracted him to her. Do it’s funny that the very thing that attracted him to her is what repulses him now that he’s on the receiving end of her lashing tongue and open disrespect.

Must be hard to work with family. I couldn’t. Few people can. Privately, they need to work on communication and she needs to respect his ego a little more. But this couple is totally salvageable.

The way the ratings algorithm works is that it takes into account each episode’s rating. So if you like the drama, please review and rate each episode. It’s too good of a drama to be rated so poorly.

Spot on! This is my complaint about the princess as well. She's too damn childish. And it seems she merely exists for the purposes of hovering around the ML. What about her own interests? So boring!
