Yeah, i never understood that either. Maybe she felt like being abused by YL was the consequences of her own actions…
If you watch the drama, at one point in the prison she explains to Yan Lin that she can never be more than buddies with him because of what he did to her ‘in a dream’. So she was traumatized, but she also understood she had a part to play in how things turned out. So she can never love him sexually, although she still cares for him deeply. Hope this answers your questions.
bro You've to watch ep 1 than you'll understand Whatever she gets was the result of her own mistakes..

In the beginning credits, there’s a line from Xie Wei that breaks my heart, which I finally understood. My Eureka moment.
‘ You’ve taken your revenge and paid your debts. At the end of the day, who are you?’ Then the camera pans to Ning’Er. I always thought he made that comment to Ning’Er. But I finally realized that XW made that comment to himself.
In the past life, he killed himself after he had taken revenge, and after the Empress suicide because he had nothing to live for. In this life, his salvation and hope is based on Ning’Er. SHE more than anyone else can give him a reason to continue his life after all his machinations are concluded and his revenge is complete. Maybe that is why the camera pans to her face, after his question. And maybe that was why she was sent back - to not only make amends for her past life, but to give a deeply wronged and troubled young man some closure, consolation in life, and a future. My two cents.
Say what you want about XS but girl is decisive! What she did is no different from what Ninger did in the past…
To be fair, I don’t mind her jumping into the Emperor’s bed as it was her only means of survival. What I seriously dislike is her using her position as the latest concubine to get involved in political matters. Even the Emperor’s favorite concubine refrained from getting involved in political affairs.
There’s a reason why the harem is forbidden from influencing political decisions. And the stupid emperor is listening to her. For a smart man, he seems incredibly stupid. Why should he suddenly start listening to a girl who has been serving his mother and uncle just because she claims to have cut them off? Why should he even believe her? How does he know that it isn’t a plot by his mom and uncle to manipulate him into following their agenda?
My guess is that XS is going to manipulate the Emperor to prove she is still useful to her father and aunt, and go back to them to accept her back to the Xue family fold and carry out their agenda. Blood is thicker than water after all.
So... am I actually the only one who love how the romance is extremely slow and there's more strategy going on?…
The Chinese censorship bureau said 40 episodes, so I don’t know why they insist that some dramas be pared down to less than 40 episodes, causing them to seriously compromise the plot. This is a drama that could easily benefit from another two episodes. Heck! It can even benefit from another 10 episodes. They would have been able to cover more arcs if it were a 50 episode series!
Okay, now I understand why the Emperor stared at Jiang Xue Ning for so long in the earlier episodes. The Emperor has a weakness for beautiful women. He most likely coveted Xue Ning and was mesmerized by her beauty and the only reason he backed off was because he noticed Xie Wie also had an interest in her. He’s a proverbial fox in the hen house.
Am I the only one who sometimes feels that the princess’ feelings towards Ning Ning aren’t just a big sismance…
In her first life, Princess was in love with her before finding out that JXN is female and then hated her. So it’s not too much of a stress that the Princess holds her close to her heart in this life.
Also remember that Ning’Er’s age was pushed down by 1 year in order to explain why her parents banished her to the village. She’s actually older by 1 year. She’s the same age as her sister.
Am midway through the drama but I'm sad to learn that ML and FL end up together. They truly don't have much chemistry. I was hoping for more original writing and have the FL end up with SML as it is obvious she cares for him. With ML she seemed dazzled by his adoration, but it's not apparent she felt anything for him if he didn't confess to her first - like she's going with the flow kind of thing. On a positive note, the cases dealt with in this drama were heartwarming and I like the solidarity among the staff. They dealt with real world issues that I could relate to all too well. Loads of tears in my eyes watching the mother working herself to the bone and losing her memory while scrambling around to work and care for her daughter. That's just a mirror of my reality.
I don’t. I have a strong feeling that the reason why she refused is because it’s NOT her real birthday. But…
Why should she accept a birthday gift if it isn’t her birthday? There’s a difference between how you treat a real friend and how you treat a stranger. With real friends you don’t bother being polite and can tell them to p*ss off when you’re in a bad mood. With an acquaintance you paste a smile on your face pretending you’re alright when you’re truly not fine. So tell me who is she treating like a real friend, and who she s she treating like a casual acquaintance by her actions? Her refusal of XW’s gifts indicates that she feels comfortable enough to do so without it jeopardizing their relationship. With ZZ she feels obligated to pander to him else he would be offended.
I hate the fact that she refused to accept XW's birthday gift or attend the birthday party, but after hearing…
I don’t. I have a strong feeling that the reason why she refused is because it’s NOT her real birthday. But a lie made up by her parents to explain why she was sent to the village. I also strongly believe she shows XW her real self so she would not want to pretend with him, and given the right opportunity, she will explain to XW exactly why she hates her birthday. With ZZ, she often compromises her true self to please him, so she will go along with his plans even when it is not what she wants.
This is another reason why ZZ is not good for her, and XW is the end game. They are their truest selves with each other. There’s no pretense between them or guilt staining their relationship.
Xie Wei getting mad anytime his feelings for Ning bubble up to the surface is hilarious to me. It's not her fault…
It’s not that her feelings have changed. It’s because she finally realized that history may repeat itself. If she keeps associating with him she may again force him to compromise his beliefs or do something dangerous again. Until that moment, she truly believed she could change the past, now she’s not so sure. So to be on the safe side, better to keep a distance.
Plus she promised Xie Wei to behave and better not to aggravate him as she’s being returned to her parents. In addition, Duke Xue is around. I’m sure she didn’t want to create more drama which will smear her name.
Am I the only who doesn’t pity YL as much as everybody does and who can’t help but remember how he eventually…
I’m in 100 percent agreement. It amazes me that folks are giving a potential rapist a pass because he was heartbroken. There really is no excuse for rape. A person who isn’t willing to rape will not do so under any circumstance. I don’t feel sorry for Yan Lin at all. No one is obligated to return one’s feeling of love. Just because a person doesn’t return one’s feelings does NOT make it a betrayal. Unless said person lied to you or cheated you. We can’t control who we like, but we CAN control what we do with our feelings. In this respect, I truly cannot give him a pass.

But what did he mean by saying ‘I am now free’. Was he expressing his intent to court Ning’Er?
